Since I'm the only person who can draft this player, I think it'd be OK to name him... in a little while. I want to see Lathum's reaction first.

This suspense is absolutely devouring me. I haven't been this unproductive since the Phalid incident.

Well, I figured it out just through deductive reasoning. Your team could draft him, but your team doesn't have a spot for him. Nobody else but me could draft him because of the teams they've used. Now, things have changed because Lathum burned St. Louis and Washington without realizing it.

If you put all those things together, it really points to just one guy.

Edit to add: Also, I've already used St. Louis, so it's obviously Washington that has changed the situation for Lathum.

No idea. If I have any idea who this guy is, I don't remember him having played for the Caps.

Ohhhhh!

For some reason I thought he was already picked. I hate his guts and would never pick him anyways, plus you guys are right, by the time I took over this team he no longer had a position.

But ya, he is pretty good value this late. For a douche.

I'd like to tie this back to my Modano comments though... Modano over he-who-must-not-be-named? Wha? As much of a douche as the guy is... come on.

I don't think Jagr was much of a big hitter, and I certainly don't want him in net...

Well, if I miss out on him because I was silly enough to name him, so be it. As it appears right now, the only person who hasn't used Jagr's teams doesn't even have a roster spot for him.

Clearly, I'm missing something, but I picked Rob Ray at the beginning of round 4, so what do I know?

Maybe he can be my enforcer. He will be a new breed of enforcer, somewhat different than what we are used to. Rather than enforcing fair play on the ice he will enforce off-ice things like mandatory gay haircuts and poor tax filings.

Taz's time has expired. At this point Lathum can pick, and the draft would continue as normal.

I'm assuming Taz could make his pick at any time (not have to wait until it comes back to him) but bsak can clarify.

5.10 Red Kelly (Offensive Defensemen) (Detroit/Toronto)

Red Kelly was a unique player - versatile and talented enough to be one of the National Hockey League's best-ever defensemen early in his career and a high-scoring center at the end. Kelly was an All-Star for eight consecutive seasons with the Red Wings, six times on the First Team, and won the Lady Byng Trophy three times. In 1954 he was chosen as the first recipient of the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the outstanding defenseman in the league.
He was considered the #23 best player in the Hockey News Top 100 NHLers of all time.

5.11 - Denis Savard (Playmaker) - Chicago, Montreal, Tampa Bay

One of the first names I thought of when I heard the category. 473 goals, 865 assists for 1338 points in under 1200 games. Amazing technique on the ice...

Going with a couple of one-team guys here, even though we're into the second half of the draft now. I have a couple of other guys who can only be picked by me, and I want to make sure I save their teams for later.

5.12 - Patrik Elias (Playmaker) - New Jersey

6.1 - Dave Taylor (Power Forward) - Los Angeles

Not a great loss, but in the tricky "enforcer" category, Dave "Tiger" Williams is now off the board.

ok, I know this has been answered but I just can't wrap my brain around it.

If a coach was never a player can you select him regardless of team constraints?

No. The team restrictions are still in place. If someone had picked Scotty Bowman, for instance, they couldn't pick any players from Detroit (or any other team Bowman coached).

6.3 Chris Pronger (Lockdown Defenseman) (Hartford, St. Louis, Edmonton, Anaheim)

He's big, he's strong, and he's an asshole. A perfect fit.

He won the Norris Trophy and the Hart Trophy in 2000. He led Edmonton to the Cup Finals in 2006 and won it with Anaheim in 2007. He can shutdown almost any forward and also adds great offensive skill and rugged edge.

I hate him.

I'm trying to stretch, twist or otherwise manipulate the meaning of "power forward" so that it fits with Dany Heatley.

Can't do it. This guy is squishy soft and hasn't hit anything since {insert tasteless joke that will get me suspended by our Atlanta-based mod}
