Agreed, it's been used that way in this draft but I honestly disagree with it. There is a world of difference between video games and computer games IMHO and two separate drafts would have been more appropriate. The games generally appeal to different audiences, have different design decisions and play differently. The line is blurring now with the more powerful consoles but overall the two are apples and oranges. This is of course, just IMHO.

I did think it was an overreaction for SkyDog to ban him permanently.
But hey, this is serious business. |

I hear he didn't accept his banning though so he'll be o.k.

The Paperboy was a great pick. I had completely forgotten about him, but as soon as I saw his name, it rang a bell.
I always sucked at that game. |

Note to participants: Would anyone object if we shortened the pick deadline after round five? Maybe two or three hours? I don't see any reason why we can't finish up pretty quickly once the first half is done.

What? No love for "Spyro the Dragon?"
And why hasn't anybody picked that "All of your base are belong to us" guy? If I were drafting, I'd take Oda Nobunaga. |

No problem. I agree with Calis that this has become less fun now that people are just coming in here to poke us with sticks and laugh at us (now I know how that panda at the zoo feels). It's a shame, too, because I actually really enjoyed this over the last couple of days. The draft brought back fun memories and the like--and it was interesting to see the relative importance that people placed on characters once we got out of the first round. People mentioning picks early was annoying and pointless, but it was nothing with which I could not live. Considering that most message boards are so filled with annoying people that I can't spend more than 5 minutes there, I will accept the occasional and infrequent immaturity from this board as the price of communicating on the internet and still consider myself lucky to be here. |

Dang. Sorry guys, I thought this was a draft.
It seems it's more of a "who can remember the most cool video game characters" You should change the title if that's the true intention. |

Wow, except for that never seem to want to mate thing I've always thought it would be pretty cool to be a panda at the zoo. You just kick it, eat and scratch yourself for others amusement. Zoo's would suck if you weren't an intrinsically lazy species but pandas? Forget about it. I didn't know that they poked them with sticks though. Depending on where they stuck them, that may explain the reluctance to mate. I'm not making fun of your main point, though I think it has been an interesting draft. Still, you must admit that some drafters kinda brought the abuse on themselves. You can't object so strongly around here and not get teased for it; especially in what is essentially a lighthearted thread.

You know, that's a pretty valid point. In a draft, generally all the teams get a list of who's available to draft. They don't have to try to remember who's eligible.

If you assume I'm they type of dork who participates in a video game character draft, then my comments don't really seem at all disrespectful or inflammatory. Besides, Nobunaga's Ambition was a kick-ass game, and probably the best turn-based strategy game of its era. |

You honestly think so? I think romance of the three kingdoms ( the original ) was way cooler and the only one I could actually get my friends to play on a regular basis. I think the two Genghis Khan's were better single player than Nobunaga as well. The fact that the computer would punish you for being too ambitious or too cautious was cool.

FWIW, I would like to finish the draft--Just pretend that the MSG crowd got a few more beers in 'em for the second half of the draft and consider the peanut gallery part of the atmosphere.
Also--I've been here for the whole thing, and I have my own views on who is mature and who is not, who has overreacted, who has not, etc (based on more than just this thread, certainly). Everyone has their own view on that. I certainly won't name names because no good comes from that. |

I've been having this discussion with a woman I work with. Just for statistical purposes mind you I am searching for a japanese albino midget whore. Yeah, she's a weird chick, just like I like them. If I find one, she's even offered to join in the fun. I'll keep you updated. BTW, googling "japanese albino midget whore" gives you 318 hits which totally blows her mind. I didn't have the heart to tell her none of them describe the person we're looking for.

Actually the poll was a result of watching people already being jerks to each other in this thread. It was intended to lighten the mood a bit since people were taking themselves waaay to seriously. In any case, I'm tired of the finger pointing, the anger mongering, the chest pounding, the self-importance, the downright mean spiritedness (of which I was one; guilty to AE); so this will be the last non-pick specific post I respond to in this thread. |

I wasn't blaming you for what happened but your thread likely caused folks who hadn't read the thread to read it. These people would seem to be people who had no real interest in the subject of the drafy anyway as anyone with interest in the draft likely had already read it. Since you were making an attempt to lighten the mood, this made the whole thing seem more like a joke and things only got worse for those who took themselves too seriously. I think it was inevitable but I don't think anything was "your fault" by any means. I hope you didn't get that impression.

I guess it's my pick huh? Sorry guys...long night last night. Here goes...
Sub-Zero Mortal Kombat The coolest (literally) character from Mortal Kombat, and I needed a fighting game representative...and then, we go with... Billy Lee Double Dragon His search for Marion was great, and spawned something like 3 sequels. What can I say...I gotta go with what I know, and old school NES games are what I know.

The Amazon From Nintendo's Pro-Wrestling, I select the most brutal bastard ever.

The second I saw the Amazon I said "oh right on" out loud. Great pick man. I use to play that game all the time. Him, starman, and the one white fella who did the backbreaker were all awesome. I actualy still own that game, and have it stashed away somewhere.
