Actually those stats kinda help Russell's case. He's WAY better than Leaf, and actually had a fairly decent 2nd season. I agree that he's looked abysmal so far this year, but the numbers he put up last year justify a continued look at him, especially with the kind of money invested in him.

I haven't watched them play but I wonder...does Russell have any real WR to throw to? I know they have Bey and I'm sure there's an argument to be had if he's a real WR. Don't you at least have to give a QB some talent around him to expect something to happen? Like I said, I haven't seen him play so perhaps he really is just that bad.

I think, really other than the interceptions, he's not much better than Leaf and the only thing saving Russell in that department is, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat, so his passes aren't close to anyone. He's got a BAD case of fumblitis on top of that.

I guess the rest of the season will tell the tale of Russell, but, I'm not expecting much better than Ryan Leafish performances (minus the picks) out of him for the rest of the season. At least he doesn't freak out and yell and scream at the press guys in the locker room.

To a point, you do have to have some people who can catch, but, if your QB can't get the ball to them, Steven Hawkings has just as good of a chance to catch a pass than anyone else on the roster.

If you've seen Russell play this year, you wouldn't have a second thought of putting him in the "worst QB's to ever start regularly" conversation. The guy is just absolutely terrible. Granted a lot of the Raiders games here have been blacked out (laugh track), I've still seen him play in away games. He is just...absolutely...GOD AWFUL. It really is laughable at how little control Cable actually has over this team. Uncle Al is losing it.

Russell couldn't hit a screen pass to an Olympic sized pool full of glue. He'd miss it by 15 yards. He's that bad. Which I enjoy.

You know, I'm starting to get a little annoyed at how this season the NFL has been about whatever the tpic du jour is. Hispanic Awareness - a good cause, to be fair. Breast Cancer Awareness - toitally worthy. 40th year anniversary of the AFL and all of the throwbacks and refs in colored unis - totally respectable.

But if they start mandating Girl Scout cookies in the concession stands, I think we will have gone too far.
