It does have a quasi-coach mode if you don't touch the controller and let the CPU run the play, and per some reports on utopiafootball, there have been a few good games with Chris Leake in coach mode, but if you have a mediocre or just average QB it can get ugly.

I went by my local Toys R Us the other day, and they said they'd sell them today or tomorrow. So I go by today, and a different guy said they had them in the back, but can't break street date, and can't sell them until the 21st. So since neither of the guys (especially today's) know what they are talking about, I might go back for the night shift.

Website says July 6th.

Also, Bill Abner has the game and has been quite happy with the way the game is playing so far. He's on AA defaults and says some slider tweaks are in order, but all in all he's liking the game.

They were received at the CompUSA I work at near Detroit today. However, an internal memo was circulated on the 3rd telling stores that had already received them to pull them off the floor and wait for further announcements. My guess is that they will be out to the floor tomorrow.

I don't know if it gets this crazy, but I have seen games come in a week earlier and "fans" finding out and calling every 5 minutes to see if it's available yet.

I would imagine the threat of a fine might be a little more than they want. You also have to understand that EA has been spending money advertising that the game will be released on July 12th, and if they release it early, then retailers might be mad that the money that was spent on the ads could have gone to something else. For instance, what if Best Buy has a big ad on the front of their next Sunday insert saying that NCAA will be in stores on july 12th, and advertises a midnight opening in certain stores on the 12th. If the game releases early, then Best Buy might get upset with EA because they could have sold that prime ad space to someone else.

Called my local Toys R Us twice today (got two different people, however, both had the same answer) and was told that they are selling it on August 11th!!!! Somehow I think it's a bit unlikely they will start selling it after Madden hits the shelves.
