INSIDE THE FIGHT

Cuts Like a Razor “Blade” (11-6-0 10/4) 6’0” 190 lbs. vs. Undaground King (23-18-0 22/12) 5’11” 190 lbs.

Matchups:

Overview: Blade is a well-balanced fighter who has usually worn down opponents and then knocked them out while they were sucking wind. Undaground King is a lumbering big bruiser who pounds away at the body until his opponents are weak, then opens up and unloads on them.

Hand Speed: Blade’s hand speed is about average, which means about twice as quick as the slow King. Edge to Blade

Foot Movement Blade has above average ability to avoid punches and movement in the ring, while King is average to below average. Edge to Blade

Conditioning: Both fighters are well-conditioned and have excelled in tiring out their opponents.. Eevn

Strength: Blade is a very strong fighter who has worn down many opponents successfully. Undaground King is a very powerful fighter who burries his head in an opponent’s chest and pounds away without regard to his own pain. His opponents have tended to feel more pain than he has. Edge to Undaground King

Chin: Both fighters have average ability to withstand power punches. Undaground King has been KO’ed 12 times, so give Blade the advantage here. Slight edge to Blade

Knock Out Ability: Blade and King have a large percentage of wins coming through knock outs. Blade has more pure KO ability than Undaground King though, who mainly has knocked out tired opponents through his sheer strength. Edge to Blade

Intangibles: Another week, another opponent who has no regard for anything but delivering punishment to Blade. This week, however, his opponent won’t fall over on his own, so Blade will have to emerge from his usual early round shell. Still, his overly simplistic style should pose no problem to Blade, provided he keeps his defense up to fend off King’s body blows. Huge edge to Blade

Outcome: Blade will go the distance in this one and will stay as far away as possible from Undaground King while jabbing enough to win rounds from him. His opponent won’t adapt to Blade’s style and Blade will cruise to his 5th victory in his last 6 matches. Blade by unanimous decision

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Charlies Stiener, "Why did you move Blade down to Cruiserweight?"

Joe, "We felt it was unfair for him to matchup with fighters that were 100 lbs heavier than he."

Stiener, "Will this move require you to do any special triaining?"

Joe, "Well yes, we'll have to train agility a good bit to make sure he doesn't get too heavy."

Sugar Ray, "Enough about the move down...let's talk about this fight."

Joe, "Let's"

Sugar Ray, "A different tactic from Blade tonight."

Joe, "Yeah, we just decided it was in our best interest to stay away from King. He can pound with the best of them, but unlike the fat slobs Blade beat in the Heavys...this guy wasn't going to tire. It was basically self preservation to fight the fight this way. We may have been able to beat him in a slug fest, but the injuries we would have sustained wouldn't have been worth it."

Atlas, "Blade still took some good shots tonight."

Joe, "He did, and I'm a little disappointed in the fact he walked away with quite a few injuries and he tired pretty fast too. I was extremely worried we would make it through the 12th, but we got the win, so I'll take it."

Atlas, "Any word on were Blade will be ranked?"

Joe, "Mac yelled at me before I came in here. He said Blade is ranked 23rd."

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Larry Merchant, "Interesting Fight. Did you expect it to go the way it did?"

Joe, "Not at all. I was suprised Applecore came out so slow. I figured he might protect himself early in the fight, but that was an extremely slow start."

Burt Sugar, "Were you comfortable going into the decision."

Joe, "I felt we won the fight, but it was close enough that I had some worries."

Sugar, "What were your thoughts as the fight progressed."

Joe, "Well...as I mentioned my initial thought was 'Man Applecore sure is being cautious for being so strong, that really helps our chances' then I went 'great we've got a big lead so we can rest a couple' 'then coming down the stretch it was 'I hope we have enough in the take to hold on.'"

"In some ways this fight wasn't as close as the score, but in others it was even closer. We won by 1 round on 2 of the 3 cards and we took a couple of rounds off, and at the end went with a defensive counter punching technique to prevent a KO loss. However, on the otherside of the coin, we tired during the 11th round and could have been a sitting duck in the 12th, but for some reason Applecore didn't try to just pound us...he upped the AGG too so he through more jabs and less power punches."

"I have to say this is one of the most gratifying wins for me, and I hope we don't fight this guy again anytime soon. By the way...This win places Butcher in the top 10 of cruiserweights

Stiener, "Joe, what happened in that ring?"

Joe, "Fisher cheated, was caught, and disqualified."

Stiener, "Do you think the DQ was justified?"

Joe, "I would have been livid if we hadn't gotten it. That was just dirty pool, and in the first round."

Atlas, "What does this do for Hurricane in the rankings?"

Joe, "We're up to 5...maybe we'll get a title shot soon. We're keeping our fingers crossed."

Hilarious for Hurricane. Fine wins all around, even if Blade and Butcher got a bit beat up.

Jace Hunter and Les "their" Cherries have a couple of big fights coming up tonight. Wins here will rocket them up the standing to some of the top heavyweight fighters in the SE Conference. Both of their opponents give them good opportunities for KO's, but Jace goes up against a fighter managed by a top gym and Cherries faces a very well-conditioned fighter who has only been knocked out twice in his career.

More to come later.

Blade,

I think Breeze and I are a bit surprised that you tired quickly. We may have underestimated King's strength and possibly could've had you avoid a bit of damage by using ring instead of outside, but all in all it wasn't too bad. BTW, if Blade can string together a couple more wins in the next couple of weeks, these guys Butcher is facing now could be the Blade challenger of the week.

BREAKING NEWS ON TONIGHT'S FIGHTS

Both of FOFC Gym's opponents have made extremely deragotory comments about Hunter and Cherries' mothers. Spook of Ashland City McDonalds talked about Cherries' mother obviously did a poor job raising her boy and is more fit to raise crawfish with that ugly mug. Hunter's opp, The Good Bit, said his mother must be some kinda idiot to give her son a sissy name like Jace.

Both FOFC fighters were noticably fuming, but refused comment initially. Behind closed doors, they vowed retalliation in the ring. Cherries is believed to have said, and this is unconfirmed, "I don't know which of Spook's heads is more pitiful, but when I'm finished with him, you'll know."

This could be a very ugly affair in the ring with two sets of boxers who clearly don't like each other.

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Les “their” Cherries (13-4-0 12/2) 6’2” 218 lbs. vs. Spook of Ashland City McDonald’s (11-3-2 6/2) 6’6” 202 lbs.

Matchups:

Overview: Les is a very strong fighter who is developing a nice touch for delivering a big punch. His opponent tonight is a skinny sissy-boy who’s better fit for putting on ballerina slippers than boxing gloves.

Hand Speed: Cherries has decent hand speed, but has difficulty winning rounds against most taller opponents. Spook has four inches on Cherries, but otherwise isn’t noticeably faster. Slight edge to Spook

Foot Movement Les has fairly average ability to move around the ring and avoid punches. His opponent moves with all the grace and ease you’d expect from someone with McDonald’s in their name. Well, maybe a bit better. Edge to Spook

Conditioning: Spook is well-conditioned which he claims is due to the amount of Big Macs he eats. Cherries impressive conditioning has led him to great success with the groupies of the boxing world. Alas for Cherries, there are more Big Macs than boxing groupies. Slight edge to Spook

Strength: Les is a powerfully built boxer who causes opponents to quickly tire with his powerful blows to the body. Spook’s punches seem as insubstantial as you’d expect from his name. Large edge to Les

Chin: Spook usually has to keep his defense up to protect himself against stronger opponents and doesn’t have so outstanding a chin. Les has above average ability to take a big slug to the head.Slight edge to Les

Knock Out Ability: Les has really decided to emphasize the big punch aspect of his game. After his opponents are weakened from his body blows, he likes to give them a final ‘love tap’ to have them kiss the mat. His opponent has one KO in his career. Looking back at that match, it’s a miracle he even got that one. Large edge to Les

Intangibles:Spook apparently has caused trouble with his big mouth even prior to this fight, as his original manager kicked him out of his gym four fights ago. Since he has come under new tutelage, he has become even more timid than he was before. He had better change his ways because he’ll tire far too fast against the bruising Cherries to be successful with only jabs. His new manager is relatively untested and this is a bad matchup for him. Edge to Les

Outcome: Spook’s mouth may really lead to trouble for him. Why he would choose to taunt a fighter so much stronger than him is just an incredible tactical blunder. Cherries already had motivation to win this battle as a win will likely propel him to the top 30 of the SE Heavyweight division, a height no FOFC heavyweight has reached. Cherries’ overpowering blows eventually get to the skinny giant and he comes tumbling down. Also watch for Cherries to get revenge early on for his opponents' comments, as he has made it clear numerous times that his mother is off-limits for remarks. Les by KO in round 6

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Jace Hunter (12-5-0 12/4) 6’2” 252 lbs. vs. The Good Bit (8-1-0 5/0) 6’5” 235 lbs.

Matchups:

Overview: Jace Hunter has evolved into the strongest of the FOFC fighters, with all of his wins coming by knock out. It was erroneously reported that Hunter hadn’t yet realized that fights could last all 12 rounds, however he has had one loss on the cards in his 17 fight career and managed a 12th round KO in his last fight. Except for a stumble three fights ago, Hunter has been dominating lately, with 6 wins by KO in his last 7 fights. The Good Bit has been a tough matchup for boxers and has held up especially well against fat heavyweights who tire easily. He hasn’t had the caliber of opponent that Hunter has in his career so this will be a good test for him.

Hand Speed: Hunter has pretty average hand speed, but he uses it well. His opponent has about average hand speed as well, but his longer reach may give him the edge by the barest of margins here. Razor-thin edge to Bit

Foot Movement The weakest part of Hunter’s game, he prefers to take root in the ring and gather strength using his Zen-like concentration. The Good Bit likes to wander around the ring, taunting his opponent to hit him, as he is adept at escaping from their blows. Large edge to Bit

Conditioning: This is a battle of poorly conditioned fighters. Both Hunter and The Good Bit have worn down quickly in many of their fights, but Hunter is probably a little worse off here.Slight edge to Bit

Strength: As stated above, Hunter is a brute. Mess with him at your own peril. The Good Bit has a decent ‘bit’ of strength, but he’s no Hunter. Edge to Hunter

Chin: Hunter is a pretty tough boxer to knock out. He is supposedly working on improving the amount of punishment he can withstand so he can be even more reckless in the ring with his power. The Good Bit has yet to be knocked out, but hasn’t been tested by a fighter with Hunter’s great power. Edge to Hunter

Knock Out Ability: Hunter has a big edge here. His former opponents, those who haven’t sustained brain damage from his heavy hitting, claim they have never felt pain like Hunter can inflict. The Good Bit has managed a large number of knockouts, but many have been from his opponents collapsing in the ring to exhaustion. He does have a little power, so Hunter will not be able to drop his guard completely. Large edge to Hunter

Intangibles: The Good Bt is managed by *The Attic*, a world-renowned gym whose fighters have garnered over 40 regional titles and 6 world titles. The Good Bit has shown flexibility in going after weaker opponents while keeping heavy hitters honest. This will be one of the more cleverly prepared fighters Hunter has had to face, and this will make it a difficult fight for him. Edge to Bit

Outcome: It will be interested to see The Good Bit’s approach against Hunter, but odds are he will try and dance around the ring hoping to tire the big man out. Hunter may have to take an early swing at bringing the fly down, but failing that shot, he may have a tough time keeping his endurance up to last the entire fight. The longer term advantage is The Good Bit’s, but will he make it that long? Watch for Hunter too to get his revenge for The Good Bit's comments, in part because Hunter believes he can fluster The Good Bit. Hunter’s had a good run recently, and we’ll give him this nod despite the tough matchup. Hunter by KO in round 2

Incidently, a Hunter victory will increase his career earnings to over $100,000.

He said WHAT about my mother? Oh man, he's gonna pay, and he's gonna pay good. No way I let him hit the canvas in two rounds, I'll pick the punk back up so I can knock him around some more.

If he hits the canvas in the second round, say thank you, smile and get the heck out of dodge. Your only shot it to drop him before the 4th, because if the bell rings for the 5th round...you'll already be exhausted.

Out of curiosity, how plausible would it be to cover up like nobodies business and try to conserve as much energy as possible until the 6th or 7th round, then open up and try to tag him?

The above statement probably reflects just how little knowledge I have of this game and the abilities of Jace

Hey Travis, at least you're asking so you can learn.

The main problem for Jace is his agility and conditioning. His agility is quite low, which leaves him open to take more punches. His conditioning is below average, so he also will tire faster than most boxers. Because of these two elements, someone like this guy, who has pretty decent strength, agility, and conditioning, can wear Jace down with body blows fairly quickly because he can't evade the blows. Even if Jace completely covered up, he'd still take more damage than The Good Bit would, so he'd still be more tired and at a disadvantage (how tired he'd be, I don't know). So it's better odds for Jace to act early while he still has energy about equal with his opponent. The Good Bit's manager likely knows this too, so it becomes a bit of a guessing game.

Hope that explained things.

Well then, in that case, why go two? Let's drop him in 1, I really didn't like having to go 12 last time

Thanks for the explanation, always nice to see what's going on, and I appreciate the work you guys are putting in.

Actually, we do have a reason for going for round 2. He may be guarding against an immediate KO attempt in round 1 or he may be slugging to wear Jace down. Breeze tailored the attack in round 2 to coincide with what The Good Bit does in the first round. So hopefully his approach won't change much from round 1 to 2 or else Hunter could have some severe problems. Also, Hunter has gone all out in the first round of a fight a few weeks ago, but hasn't gone for a KO in round 2 of any of his fights...so hopefully The Good Bit is caught by surprise. We'll see!

In any case, you're welcome for the explanation. I'm always happy to see interest in the fighters. Breeze, condors, and I are working hard, but having fun coming up with plans to keep FOFC on top (at least I believe I can speak for them on that).

Well, if it has to be round 2, I can live with that. It's the later rounds that are of much bigger concern, by then, we should be hitting the snack stands, not still fighting.

Oh, hey, that point Travis brought up reminded me of something. Breeze, not that I want to tinker with Hurricane's fight plan when you're doing so well but I have a suggestion based on some of what I've seen- I keep ending up in close fights when I have tons of stamina in the end and it tends to be because the round winning detection of the fighter tends to suck sometimes. So instead of "do this when winning" when you have Hurricane sit back and avoid damage but risk losing if he's miscounting rounds, set him up to "do this when winning by 2 or more rounds" so it gives a little of a buffer to avoid these types of losses.

SI,

I am working on some new conditionals that will hopefully address that. I'll probably start using if roundswon = X late in the fight and if roundswon < round - 1 early (meaning ties will in our code basically count as a lost round.

Teddy Atlas, "Pretty aggressive fight plan from Hunter, was that intential or did he improvise?"

Joe, "That was the plan, and he executed it perfectly. This is about exactly the way our sparring went."

Atlas, "He got the KO in the second with out going allout on Bit. Did that suprise you."

Joe, "Nope, he was doing it in sparring against fighters who were probably slightly better than Bit."

Merchant, "The hook that ended the fight, was one of the most impressive I've ever seen."

Joe, "Oh my God, to see punch that literally lifts sends a 235 lb fighter through the air before hitting the mat, that was awesome. I think Bit will think twice before talking about an opponents mother and making fun of an opponents name. Besides how does someone named The Good Bit make fun of anyone elses name? Hunter has really come into his own as a KO artist. Now, If we could just get him to work on some of the agility drills."

Burt Sugar, "Les came out early and too the fight to Spook. He seemed to be a bit anxious on this one. Did it have anything to do with Spooks comments before the fight."

Joe, "The plan was to come out in the first round and pound away. If Les felt like he wasn't taking any hard punches in the first round, he was free to really open up and attack. I'm sure the comments motivated Les, but even before Spook opened his mouth, the plan was in place to attack. Spook had shown that he prefered to jab from the outside, and if he wasn't going to throw any hard punches, we were going to pound him."

A great week of boxing is ahead, after the impressive victories by the heavies.

What do you like?

Rematches? There's a couple of dandies, including Jimmy "Hurricane" Saunders going against the only fighter to ever KO him.

A fighter who's going up against his third different FOFC gym fighter? Yup.

A match against a 400 lb behemoth? Indeed.

How about a match where the FOFC boxer is gonna have to drop his guard from round 1 and possibly continue that way the entire fight? Could be one of the most entertaining fights seen here.

All that and more. And it all starts tonight, with Bobby "Baked" Beans looking to break his three game skid against an opponent who will really go after you. In a couple of hours, Inside the Fight will bring you the breakdown of tonight's fight.

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Bobby “Baked” Beans (9-9-0 9/3) 5’ 5” 135 lbs. vs. Sambo Rishworth (18-25-0 12/19) 5’ 6” 133 lbs.

Matchups

Overview: “Baked” Beans has gone cold recently, but should come back strong this week, as his opponent this week is a predictable reactionary fighter.

Hand Speed: Beans loses out to his opponent here. Rishworth is adamant about using his speed and size to counter punch against all opponents. Edge to Rishworth

Foot Movement: Both fighters have fairly average ability to move around the ring, but Rishworth has a slight advantage from his counter punching ways. Slight edge to Rishworth

Conditioning: Both fighters are well-conditioned. Wearing down will probably not be an issue to either fighter in this match.Even

Strength: Bean’s strength is above average and he will deliver punishment to opponents. Rishworth’s strength is a little more suspect, but he has been able to inflict some damage to opponent. Edge to Beans

Chin: As has been well-chronicled, Beans is amazing at taking a big blow to the head. He’ll get his chance to take a big one from his opponent, who is more average in taking a punch. Edge to Beans

Knock-Out Ability: Beans is working towards becoming more of a KO artist, which fits in well with his big chin. Rishworth has knocked out opponents who are more content to try and beat him on the cards. Even

Intangibles: Rishworth has been under the tutelage of 5 gyms, which has no doubt caused him to get confused in the ring. He has resorted to just counter punching, while trying to take down opponents trying to outbox him with ignoring his opponents’ punches in going for a KO. Of course, this is a serious weakness when an opponent knows what is coming. Large edge to Beans

Outcome: Beans should be back on track after this week’s match. He will outbox him in the first two rounds, then be ready when Rishworth charges at him. His outstanding chin will really help him here, and Rishworth will be KO’ed with a big thud. Beans by KO in round 3

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Charlie Stiener, "Beans just distroyed Sambo in the 3rd. In fact, I have never seen a boxer's face look worse, have you?"

Joe, "I didn't see him, but I know Cherries has made a few fighters real ugly."

Stiener, "Here if the report from the doctor:Rishworth is slowing down. He has swelling around his left eye. He has swelling around his right eye. He has a cut below his left eye. He has bleeding below his right eye. He has bleeding over his left eye. He has a gash over his right eye. He has a bloody lip.."

Joe, "Wow if that is the report...I'll have to not only stop in to see him, but I'll need to take a picture."

If you like fights where unbelievable amounts of punishment are administered to opponents, you will not want to miss this the results from tonight's fight. Pancho is going to change his style and really get after his opponent until he's good and bloody. More to come in a few hours.

INSIDE THE FIGHT

Pancho O’Kelly (12-5-2 7/3) 5’ 10” 153 lbs. vs. Dizzy Willy (22-16-0 0/14) 6’ 0” 153 lbs.

Matchups

Overview: Pancho has become an astute dancer, winning his last three matches by unanimous decision and dazzling opponents with his jabbing and ring movement. Dizzy Willy is an eccentric fighter who starts off active but if he takes damage, is manic about trying to protect himself.

Hand Speed: Both Willy and Pancho have incredible hand speed, allowing them to win rounds against most opponents. Even

Foot Movement: Willy has good foot movement, but Pancho is very light on his feet and uses this ability to wear down opponents.Slight edge to Pancho

Conditioning: Pancho’s conditioning is probably a little superior to his opponent. If nothing else, Willy has been worn down many times by stronger opponents. Slight edge to Pancho

Strength: Pancho’s strength is average to perhaps just below average, but either of those would put him ahead of the feeble Willy. Willy has gotten some severe beatings in his career because his low strength allows opponents to really get after him. Edge to Pancho

Chin: Pancho has a fairly average chin and has been fortunate not to be tested against powerful knock out artists. Willy’s chin is also average. Even

Knock-Out Ability: Pancho has some ability to knock out opponents, as evidenced by his 7 KO’s, but does not have the raw power to consistently get knock outs. Willy has not KO’ed an opponent in his 38 fight career and has only used power punches in desperate situations at the end of fights. Edge to Pancho

Intangibles: Willy was superbly managed early in his career by the gym called So Solid Gym from Europe. After a poor European economy forced the closed of his gym, he has signed on with a far less successful gym and has become brutalized in some fights since. He attacks very similarly against opponents in trying to be very active early, but covers up like a turtle if he takes a damaging blow from his opponent. He especially becomes ineffective when he wears down, as he completely drops boxing his opponent to clinch them as tightly as possible, earning him frequent censures from referees. Finally, he is very weak and never even tries to inflict damage on his opponent, so he really leaves himself open to taking some big shots. Large edge to Pancho

Outcome: Pancho will likely depart from his usual careful style to work on wearing out Willy as fast as possible. If you enjoy watching a boxer take an unreal beating for an entire fight, this would be the one to watch. Pancho by KO (TKO) in round 8

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Teddy Atlas, "Wow, what a train wreak of a fight. Have you ever been involved in something so one sided?"

Joe, "I don't believe so. Pancho went out and dropped his guard from the opening bell, and just pounded away. It was like he was working against the heavy bag not a real opponent."

Burt Sugar, "If you were Willy's manager, what would you tell him to do?"

Joe, "Retire."

Sugar, "Retire?"

Joe, "Yeah, I think Pancho exposed him, and future opponents are going to adopt Pancho's fight plan. If that is the case, he better retire before he gets brain damage."

Sugar, "Anything else he can do?"

Joe, "I don't know...at the very least he better work on his strength and KO punch. Maybe I'll have Butcher give him a call if he is serious about continuing his career."
