some guy here town killed himself yesterday by dowsing himself in gasoline and lightning himself in fire in front of the courthouse. was fairly calm about it and I guess walked around a bit before keeling over. I can't imagine a worse way to go. well, I can, but it's still pretty awful.

Yea, just this past winter we had somebody do that in our town. They walked into one of those manual car wash places, went into one of the stalls, and did the same.

Insane.

err, Atlanta airport is huge and has a large underground tunnel system connecting the gates. You must be at some weird satalite gate or something

So apparently we're using enough bandwidth as a household that my ISP has been sending me nasty letters threatening to move us to a commercial tier...but god forbid I should interrupt my wife while she streams season 1 of "Voltron" to the PS3.

Ooh, apparently, she's also decided our household needed to air "She-Ra", "Princess Protection Program", and "Howard the Duck." At least now I know why it was so deathly important I pause downloading The Witcher 2 last month.

As I type this, she's flipped the stream to the Jeff Dunham Show. I guess this means there's a 50% chance I won't have to save money to send any future kids to college...

Ya, I read about that. It was weird - sure he upset that he owed his wife child support but it wasn't THAT much - he owed $2k after 10 years or something, which indicates that he had paid a lot more than he failed to pay. Maybe he had some money problems and didn't want to live any more, fine, but.....I wasn't picking up a lot of rage towards to the court in particular in the part of the suicide note they released.

And then on my way home I get ticketed for running a red light on a right turn.

It's a 1 way. No car can access what I was turning into but me. There is no traffic to look for when I stop, since any other car that's going to access that road is behind me.

Lamest ticket I've ever gotten in a very ticket heavy life.

irrelevant. you broke the law and no matter how lame, the cop has to do his job. don't whine about it, follow the law next time.

of course, in your "very ticket heavy life" I doubt that's going to happen anyways...

Or if said pedestrian had thrown a rock through your window after you tried to steamroll him. No, I've never been tempted to do that to people who just roll right through an intersection without stopping when the 'walk' light is lit. Of course not.

Went to an estate auction today. Picked some cool items...a Pennsylvania railroad lantern, a old tin toy car with working wipers, a old lead soldier, and a 4 foot air hockey table. Spent $100 total. What got me was the amount the KKK stuff went for.$450 for a ceremonial sword, $80 for a porcelain figure, $50 for a wallet. Either this stuff is more collectible than I thought or its a sad comment on southern Indiana.

No I'll whine about this one. It was stupid. Looked and acted like a rookie cop, doubt any other cop would have bothered.

I didn't whine about the others.

And no, I won't be following the law.

the cop was probably stationed there because stupid people run that red light all the time and it is:

a) a safety issue
b) an easy money maker from tickets.

Enjoy the rest of your ticket heavy life.

No, it's not a safety issue.

Yes it may be an easy money maker.

No I don't have a problem paying tickets, never contested and thank the damn cop for making it quick when he gets me the ticket. Generally it's deserved.

You sound like a bitch.

I have known people who collect Nazi stuff. Not because they are Nazis themselves, but because they like to collect historical items, regardless of what side the stuff comes from. I have also known people who are uneasy about collecting certain things. More than 1 person I've talked to have said they'd be worried about what people would think of them if they died and people went through their stuff.

Same reason I clear my browser history every night.

I think the widow had the same feelings. First time I'd been to an estate auction where one member of the family was still alive. She may have just been anxious to get the stuff out of the house!!! I'm guessing he was more sympathizer than collector since one of the items for sale was his membership plaque!

Well, today I make the 3 hour drive down to Cleveland to work probably what will be my last week with the company.

They did give me back the 4 days, but if they don't RIF me, I do have a 2 1/2 month vacation (Oh no vaca pay). I will be honing my .NET skills and looking for a position locally to see if I can get out of the travel.

This.

I have a few Nazi items in my collection (A few are from my uncle who was in WWII), not because I'm a Nazi, but just for the historical value.

So, in Heathers, at one point Veronica is very tired and accidentally pushes the car cigarette lighter onto the palm of her hand, giving herself a blistering burn. JD quickly grabs her hand, and lights a cig from it.

Does this scene add anything?

36 hours & counting w/out internet service at home. Suckage beyond all manner of description. At least AT&T finally stopped lying to me with random "estimated repair times" and started going with "we don't know".

Since we don't really have an NFL off-season thread (at least not that I've noticed) I thought I'd post this here. Pulled this from the Footballguys and it gave me a chuckle. Apologies to the Panthers fans out there:

Quote:
NFL - Owners Kraft and Mara key to a labor deal - timetable late June / early July
Source: Mike Freeman - CBSSports.com
CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman writes, "The best information still points to a new deal being reached toward the end of the month and beginning of July. I've seen or heard nothing that contradicts this."
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Freeman also writes that it looks like Patriots owner Bob Kraft and Giants owner John Mara have emerged as the keys to getting a deal done. They have the respect of the owners and the player necessary to make it happen.
Carolina's Jerry Richardson continues to be seen as the guy most likely to screw things up on the owners side so hopefully they can keep a muzzle on him. The only thing worse than losing a season would be losing a season because of the Panthers. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I don't hate bicycle riders, I really don't. However, if you choose to ride your bike on a very twisty, turny road that has no bike lane and several blind curves, don't be shocked or pissed if you get hit or cut off by a car. Yes, I know the view is beautiful (I drive it every day) and yes, I know it's probably a great route for exercise, but, since you can't do the speed limit going up the hill, you are obstructing traffic, which is a legitimate reason to get a ticket. I highly recommend that you people find a different road that has a bike lane.

Well I do hate bicycle riders. I live in an area that has a bike path all along the river, for hundreds of miles. Do they use it? No they don't. Instead they fill up roads that are barely big enough for a single car each way with many winds and turns and pretty much force the cars to go as slow as them. They also look like pretentious douche guzzlers playing Tour De New Jersey.
