Berkley is the hotbed of FOFC? Damn...it wasn't when I lived in Royal Oak, less then half a mile away from Berkley.

It seems to be now...there are three posters from here, myself, DeTox, and gi, plus H_B is less than a mile or so away. Not bad for a city of just over 15,000.

There is still a part of me that hopes max football, will actually be patched to a point where it is playable.

I have mixed feelings about that. I would absolutely love to have a game that combines the best features of Madden and FOF. So in that way I wish the game success. But the way Daivd shat on the text-sim community and the poor way the release was handled by Matrix tempers those feelings to say the least.

I honestly don't think it's possible to mix Madden with FOF and keep the realism of FOF.

I do think it's possible to make the realism worse than Madden and Maximum Football proved that much.

It should be possible to have something close to what MF (minus the CFL and customizability) pretended to offer. Single season, realistic coaching/playbook etc.

Maybe if someone had a plan, and didn't try and make an ass-backwards frame-rate driven cut rate physics engine, but created the display from the engine (sort of like FM and EHM) then it shouldn't be impossible.

I doubt anyone may try it for years, because as we all know, this thread destroyed any chance MF had of being good, and thus would instantly prevent other developers from even attempting as gargantuan a task as recreating something along the lines of the FBPro series from a decade ago.

Here is another message in the public MaxFB forums. Kinda scary....

dave,

thx for the reply. i only noticed the duplicate numbers before training game; i haven't looked beyond that.
i'm not deleting any players, all i did was add players, for example, i added players 21-40 (with a 20 pre-training camp roster); after i added those to the database i changed say, a wr to a db; ... didn't delete just added and changed.
i'm not one to delete anything without knowing exactly what it impacts anyway; i've programmed enough other stuff to be cautious.
great game. can we talk you into Maximum Basketball?
thx :o)

Imagine another thread on Maximum Basketball. It would most likely be geared towards the CBA without any consideration to the NBA. You would be able to customize it from Boy's Club to the pros while the 3D models remain the same height for all leagues.

Uhhh.... yes. Well, the last 10 pages or so aren't up to snuff, but buried in the middle is creamy, golden comedy goodness. The kind Grandma used to bake.

Exactly! How can someone get the full significance of Chuck Norris, star of the Seattle Tucans, Teleporting to the Beer Tent, if they just read the 84th page!! Not to mention the merits of seeing Daivd’s work so eloquently bantered about in Limerick?

Sheesh – some people!

I don't see how Blade can be a moderator if he hasn't read the Maximum Football thread.

LOL....You can't really be a moderator. There are references in other threads about this topic. It has already become part of the FOFC lexicon. But if you refuse to read this thread, try Toddzilla's Maximum Football - Media Index Thread:

Could Flere use Maximum Football to re-enact events or stories? Perhaps some sort of importation from Maximum Football into Microsoft Paintshop, then animatrize the results, reimport back into Maximum Football, customize the surroundings:

you need a bar to drink in, click this
you need a car to drive, click this

then do a waypoint scenario having the new models moving, perhaps even with voice overlays, in a whole new Maximum world?

Am I being to outlandish?

Well back to Maximum Football again...

Now I knew they had a sorry excuse for career mode, but I didn't know it did this:

I notice the historical stats remain unchanged but somehow there is got to be a better way to save the players from leaving or re-starting the season with different players.

Sure it keeps their career stats, but they get drafted all over again each year. Makes it pretty hard to develop a player, I would think. It's funny how when FOFC argued over career mode that it wasn't really a big deal. Wow!
