2k is a bit of an asshole recently. They got Steam to pull from their store two solid, playable, but minor casual strategy games called Pre-Civilization Egypt and Pre-Civilization Marble Age. take Egypt, for example, which is a fun game I played through in a few hours, and runs from 5000 bc to 3000 bc, and doesn't have any mechanics in the "Civ" or "Civ-clone" genre. The same is true of Pre-Civ Marble Age as well.
And yet, 2k made this claim, that they infringe on their core "Civilization" brand, despite the fact that they have not copyrighted Pre-Civilization, and there are many other games on Steam, like Galactic Civilizations, which 2k has not gone after and are still there. So why go after the small-time indie company? And of course, how do you resolve it? You have to resolve it, independently, with the company who made the claim. Then they have to both agree to a settlement, and contact Valve in order to get it taken care of. So unless 2k Games decides to back off somehow, this is not going away. And its like a little two person indie studio can threaten legal ramifications for going after a larger company like 2k. You can check out the Cease and Desist stuff online. Looks like 2k went after them on Google Apps, but they were restored there. I get the need to protect your IP. But I feel like this was a bit too far.

I have so many games on my wishlist for like nothing right now. I could get FTl, Hero Generations, Rogue State, new release 100% Orange Juice (you know me and y predilections towards electronic and Japanese card games). This War of Mine,Massive Chalice, and do it all for like 17 bucks. The vast majority of my remaining wishlist games re at 50%, 66% or 75% off.

This is the most I've spent on a Steam sale in a long, long while. My backlog is huge, but I picked up several games I've been intrigued by for a long while:
The Witcher 3 (GotY Edition) Doom Fallout 4 Motorsport Manager (not actually on sale) South Park: The Stick of Truth Crypt of the NecroDancer |

Given that two of the games on that list easily have 100+ hour playthrough potential I don't think you did anything for your backlog. Last edited by Ironhead : 11-25-2016 at 04:13 PM. |

I got Motorsports Manager, just because the reviews wouldn't let me wait for it to go on sale and the entire Endless Legend collection finally.
May still pick up Tabletop Simulator and Lords of Xulima, as they both intrigue me. Anyone have anything to share on Lords? I am still playing POE as well as Tyranny, so in no hurry to start another RPG. |

I bought Lords long time ago it seems and only log in 5 hours but I really enjoyed it. If you buy make sure you get the hate food mod because having to eat is a real pain in this game. I'm also playing POE & Tyranny and now I've got the urge to load up Lords. I'm so in deep with rpgs.

Asked this in one of the FOF8 threads and didn't get a response. Do Steam games work on Chromebooks? Specifically something graphics-lite, like maybe FOF8?

I believe it depends on the model of the Chromebook. If you have an ARM CPU, then I don't think it will work.

Loved Lords of Xulima - can't wait for a sequel.
Picked up a game called Ember - mixture between a ARPG and RPG. Not going to win game of the year awards but not bad for $5. |

so I wasn't feel This War of Mine, and I didn;t grab it this go around, but i did grab Turmoil instead, it's a Oil Mining casual game set in the late 1800s. I played Turmoil yesterday and Rogue state this afternoon. I left positive feedback for both, I thought both were fun casual titles that I can go back to. I can see myself coming back to Rogue State first, but I played through the entire campaign of Turmoil which was longer.

I know there are some RPG guys out there, which did you guys prefer, Divinity: Original Sin or Grim Dawn?

They are very different games. Grim Dawn is a great Diablo clone, lots of action, quick leveling, lots of loot, etc. Divinity is also great, but a much slower, Neverwinter Nights kind of RPG.
Both are great, and you should be happy with either, but the gaming experience is very different.

I would agree with this. Both serve different purposes and both are very well done in their genre. I like Grim Dawn for quick, mindless gaming sessions, where I just want constant action. DOS is very old school and I like playing that when I have some time set aside and don't mind thinking as it is much more deliberate. The turn based combat in DOS is very well done as well. |

Quite a lot of words: I've been doing ok taking half my guys and equipping them with a militia spear and shield, forming them into a line and choosing "spearwall" whenever an enemy comes close enough for them (the enemy) to charge next turn. The other half hide behind and to the flanks of the line and rush forward with sword or axe when the spearwall has worn the enemy down, or when the line dont have enough energy to spearwall anymore. I also have a couple of bowmen to ping arrows over the line from high ground. Having said that, I've just had 8 of 12 guys die in a single battle just when i thought I was past the rough start. I've been having some fun with Epic Manager. It's like a cross between a sports manager and RPG. It's pretty light, but it's also pretty difficult.

I know it's old for a lot of you probably, but I've really liked This War of Mine a lot thus far. I lost my first run on gday 27, and everyday feels like you are working overtime just to make ends meet.

Yeah I think I gave This War of Mine about an hour before I decided it just wasn't my thing. Why do I want to spend my small amounts of free time living in some horrible desolate land just scratching to get by?

I've actually yet to use it, so if someone else comes along feel free to pass it on. My game time is super limited at the moment anyway, so it's no biggie and I'd actually rather see someone who is going to use it get the key.
