It sounds like he is trying to say that he is doing a "save as" every single year. If that is the case, just stop doing the save as and you will be fine. It will keep boxscores and everything. The only thing you would lose would be the ability to see the team summary every year.

Ah yeah - that would certainly take up much more space.

Is there a way to change the defensive scheme from a 3-4 to a 4-3?

In the depth charts/game plans screen, click on "game plan-miscellaneous settings" and you should see it.

This. I can never figure out how old people are.

Wish players would get Championship rings even if they are on the inactive roster or injured reserve. If my RB plays 16 regular season games, then gets hurt in the playoffs, he still deserves that honor.

This has always been the way and it's annoying. I had hoped my question about this would be asked in the development chat but it never happened. I can't imagine this is too difficult to add but I don't know the code.

just wanted to say that I know less than nothing about mac file structures or anything, but I was able to download wine bottler and get this game running in like 5 minutes. No need for parallels or any of that stuff, at least immediately. 100% free. Just make sure you bottle the file to open as the game exe instead of the player file creator.

Well I had always thought it was best to only have players that participated because it would not seem to make sense to have inactive players to show their Championships on the player card. I know this is not how it is in "real life" but I thought this was a good design decision because I would hate to see a career backup player who never played a down in any of the Bowls to show multiple Championships as he got lucky enough to bounce around to championship teams.

Has anyone had a player with severe depression out for a really long time? I'm pretty sure I've had players with this in the past and eventually they recover, but now I have a stud WR who missed an entire season (!) and it is now the next preseason and he's still out. Am I screwed?

Just won my third super bowl in 23 years! I am 3 for 3 in Super Bowls. *knocks on wood* The previous 3 years I had underachieved because of my insistence on using a 46 defense. Took that off the table. Mixed up 2 deep with bump n run and man. Had studs at most positions on defense which helps. A beast at rb. And got away with an average to below avg qb.

Capped out a couple of guys to keep the guys together. Probably will have to break up the team now, but I am glad I got one with this core.

My starting qb had an overall rating of a 29. He was undrafted, but I coaxed a 64 percent completion percentage out of him . Of course I only threw it 274 times lol

Only won one SB in 22 years and only made the playoffs 8 times. Very hard to put together a super team in this version. I've tried to build through the draft but drafting is also more of a crapshoot it seems. Building through free agency seems near impossible because teams almost always seem to lock up their good-great players.

But a star or solid player doesn't get his?? I could care less what a scrub has on his card, but looking at archives has always been fun. So for a stud not to get a ring due to injury seems way off.

Agreed. It would be like Navarro Bowman not getting a SuperBowl ring if the Niners would go on to win.

I kind of like the way it is. I want to know whether a guy has played in a championship game. If rings displayed when they didn't play in the game, I wouldn't know whether they did or not without looking.

After some googling, it seems unlike getting your name on the Stanley Cup, there are no official NFL rules for who gets a SuperBowl ring, with total discretion left to the owner.

Learn something new every day... and can be used to explain this design decision.

In case this hasn't been posted recently, this is what Jim said way back in 2004 regarding Super Bowl rings in FOF.

No half-rings, no three-quarter rings, no voting, no sympathy rings for gimpy quarterbacks. You play the game, you get one. You watch, you don't.....

Couldn't possibly disagree with this more. Its his game, so be it. But gimme a break, a QB that has 35 TDs to 5 ints that happens to get hurt in the playoffs doesn't deserve a ring but the back up kick returner who had 1 play in the Superbowl does?

I haven't seen any major problems with it. Teams seem to fill themselves reasonably well. The AI probably doesn't value QB as highly as most humans would, but nothing egregious that I've seen.

Yes it is. And I have to say - the FTP features are absolutely amazing as a Commish. Of course it's great as a league member as well, but the timesavings for the Commish is incredible. This feature alone is worth the cost if you ask me

Finally won a super bowl in my 40th season. I played in 5, but this was my first victory. Pretty sure my QB will go down top 10 maybe top 5 of all time if can put together a couple more seasons before having his skills decline.

This is something that I would like to see added to the game, the ability to sort stats by position.

That is the setting, it handles active/inactive as part of the depth chart.

Are you sure? I have my coach setting depth charts, but if I don't have enough RBs (or any other position group) active it won't let me sim. If my coach handled inactives, shouldn't that be taken care of? I have to manually activate another RB and deactivate someone else.

yeah, for some reason the active/inactive thing is only handled when choosing the option to let the cpu handle minor signings.

I´d also like to be able to distinguish between offensive/defensive gameplan when putting it to cpu controll.

2 more random questions not worthy of their own thread:

-does anger over playing time effect anything other willingness to re-sign with you?
-Is there an attribute that aims to predicts fumbling frequency or do I have to rely on stats for that?

1) I don't believe so.

2) There is a hidden fumbling rating, at least for RBs. Not sure if everybody has one. I think people had kind of backed out the algorithm for FOF2k7, but this version is a mystery for now.

Upto a point, once a player reaches upset (?) or demanding a trade they won't resign with you until they get more playing time and their happiness comes up.

I'm sure if there's a place to bring up bugs at this point with that thread now locked, but all of my cornerbacks who show up as LCB on the roster screen show up as RCB when you open their player card, and vice versa. On the player depth chart, they show up as what their player card says they are. This is post-patch, and I know I didn't have that issue before. Every team's roster screen has this issue.

The upload was on 1/24 at about 5:00 a.m. So if you downloaded the update in the first 48 hours it was out, the only difference between that and what's here is the bitmap change. I assume it's no different from MizzouRah's version.

And, yes, I know I'm bad at keeping fix lists. That's a good practice with software. When only one person is in the code, you have the luxury of simply fixing something you see right on the spot and there's no harm done. Lists are tracked so that a team of programmers can work together without winding up in fisticuffs. At some point, many companies started releasing those lists to customers, because some customers are interested and there's really no reason not to do this. 7.0a was so small and I was spending a lot of time on the graphics, so the fixes were made while I was waiting for responses from ViaTech on their library issues.

I apologize for my laziness in these reporting matters. The above example is sort-of like the "five-second rule" for dropping food on the floor. Which, of course, is a rule that has no scientific validity whatsoever.

Re-download the patch.

I traded two 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd to move up to 1(1) in the draft and grab the highest rated player, a QB, which I desperately needed.

He doesn't even make it out of the first exhibition game before succumbing to injury -- "Impaired Vision" -- OUT -- full strength unknown.

I drafted another QB in Round 5 who has led me to a respectable 6-5 record thanks to a good defence but the 1(1) player has yet to see a down of meaningful football since drafted.

This isn't a complaint. It's an interesting "story" in this career, one that I've never really seen before with the first overall selection.
