Is this you trying to make my point for me? In other words Steven Jackson in 06 is the one good back able to thread the Vikings defense in the past 3 years? Grant had a couple of decent games, nothing spectacular.

The teams with better running backs are actually at a disadvantage because they continue to try and run with no success while teams without great backs just give up and pass the entire game like teams should against the Vikings so yes Gore was going to be a non factor. You find a game in the past 3 years where a RB had a decent game against the Vikings. Coffey ended up with 25 carries 54 yards, Gore would have probably had less yards as they would have keyed on him more. Perhaps Gore catching the ball out of the backfield would have helped I will give you that.

They are giving up 3.5 yards per carry this year, 3.3 last year, 3.1 the year prior and 2.8 the year prior to that. Its just not a smart play to run the ball against them.

Adrian Peterson himself would struggle to get 50 yards against the Vikings defense.

When you said decent, you really meant spectacular?

Perhaps. The Jackson game was a great find. It was the last game of the season when the Vikings were eliminated from the playoffs but he did find it.

And since I did say decent I would have to add a few of them athough I dont think games where a back averages less than 4 yards per carry can even be called decent.

I had a list started of every starting back that played against the Vikings starting in 06 but I hit back and flubbed it up. You would be amazed by how bad some of them good backs games were.

Highlights included Frank Gore(19 carries 41 yards), Kevin Jones(9 carries -3 yards), and Ronnie Brown's(12 carries 2 yards) games.

To say a teams best offensive player wouldn't make a difference is an absurd statement.

Maybe he only goes for 50 yards, but maybe 6 of them are when it was 3rd and 6 and they need a first down to ice it.

A good QB or WR can shred the Vikings defense. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have dominated the Vikings defense. Its on the ground that a teams best offensive player has very little success. When Aaron Rodgers or Donavan McNabb come to town I get worried, when Matt Forte, Frank Gore, or Micheal Turner come knocking I dont get very worried. It may sound absurd but its the truth. I am sure if you ask Ravens fans they arent real worried about a good RB either.

Just making sure I understand your logic...you're worried about Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and Donovan McNabb, but you weren't worried about Kyle Orton, Shaun Hill, or a rookie Matt Ryan?

Genius, I tell you.

Orton still is the qb of the Bears? I dont worry about Ryan Grant, Westbook(not rushing, his catching out of the backfield scares me) if that helps you better catch the drift. And yes I was worried about Hill yesterday. Once they gave up on the run they moved the ball well.

Its obviously over your head. If a best player comes out of the game with stats like this would you be scared? 20 rushing attempts 50 yards a td? The high majority of the time this is what a backs game will look like against the Vikings or Ravens when they actually do something.

Anyway Im done with this. I guess some of you dont understand.

The secondary of the Dallas and the tackling of the defense has been awful. But the one thing that pisses me off the most is on the offensive side... Jason G.'s playcalling has been awful. Our run game was outstanding last week against the Giants. We ran for 250 yards. This week we are averaging 6+ ypc. Felix is close to 8 ypc. Yet we still have passed more then we have rushed the damn ball. It's obvious Romo isn't playing too well lately and our receiving core does not have a deep threat at all. RUN THE FUCKING BALL MORE

I haven't read the entire Vikings run debate going on here, but here are some quick stats:

2009
12th in rushing defense.
5th in passing defense.

2008
1st in rushing defense.
18th in passing defense.

2007
1st in rushing defense.
32nd in passing defense.

2006
1st in rushing defense.
T-31st in passing defense.

It's early in the season, but so far it seems like the rushing defense isn't as good as it used to be. That, and their passing defense stunk in previous years.

Yeah its still early. They have basically the same defense back except they get EJ Henderson back. Id expect their defensive stats to be similiar to last year when its all said and done. Their pass defense will still stuggle.

Lions had some decent runs against them but San Fran rushing game was a non factor. The pass stats are inflated because they have played the Browns, Lions and 49ers.

I'm not watching the game, but the Cowboys are completing 70% of their passes, have zero turnovers, have noone averaging less than 4.3ypc, and have still managed to score just 13 points through nearly 3 1/2 quarters?

49-31 as a starter for the Panthers after this game. 84.8 Rating 113-76 TDtoINT ratio. Definetly not a horrible QB, I'd say thats average or a little bit better than average. Maybe not worth the money they gave him, but better than a lot of NFL starters...

I still think Delhomme is our best option, doesn't say much about our backups though. Feeley doesn't know the system, and moore plain sucks.

I'm just about ready to call this a lost season, which is fine by me. The NFC South is up for grabs every year, and we had a good season last year. So lets go 6-10 or what ever and win the division next season.

You're a Panthers fan, you know how this goes. Carolina will start 1-7, and will finish 6-2 once its totally meaningless for yet another 7-9, far far out of the top of the draft, season.

They've gotten some quality players in that common middle of the draft position for them, don't get me wrong.

Oh, and that 6-2 finish will keep Delhomme and Fox around for yet another year of high risk QB, poorly coached, poorly disciplined play.

If you're a Niners fan, do you want a top 5 pick? It's tough to forecast the draft this far out, but it seems like there might be pretty decent depth at the top of the draft, and top 5 picks require so much damn money.

I think it depends a lot upon what happens with Crabtree these coming months. I know they aren't too happy about it so far.

Yeah, the Crabtree thing is big. I really thought he'd be under contract by now, but I seriously underestimated his stupidity. I'm still slightly hopeful they can work something out, but that hope is fading with each passing week.

I'm pretty sure there's some decent WRs coming out this year, which will be nice insurance in case they don't end up signing him. They could also use some serious help in the secondary and along the defensive line.
