That was a crazy return. I don't see why anyone would kick to him the rest of the season.

I always hated how Nike has a few uniform designs that they give to multiple teams. These Syracuse ones are just LSU unis with different colors.

The reason I say that is because all SU has to do is put on white pants and they will look ok. Giving white pants to the POS uniforms of Oregon State and the others will not help at all.

This is a credit to well put together and well coached programs more than its a credit to teams in 1AA having all-around talent.

I'm a HUGE 1-AA homer and I'm not making that claim at all. I'm saying that this ASU team, right now, with their 2 national championships in a row and returning much of that talent this year is very, very good - as they showed today.

Clearly the color on your TV for the Cal game must not be adjusted properly.

So.. as a Vols fan, I'm nervous but optimistic right now... two of the Cal TD's were because of returns (fumble and punt)... they can't keep scoring that way all game.

right?

I just realized that App. State kicked their last field goal on FIRST down. If they had subsequently lost that game, that would have been ... one of the worst kick in the balls loss ever.

Fair point, although I still like the Orange ones - but I do like the White much better.

I'm a homer though, so that doesn't mean much .

Yup, that's worrying me a lot. All of the Vols speed seems to be on offense, nothing on defense. And if Heffney is really hurt, that takes what speed there was.

Correct...usually one plays defense and one plays offense. John David Booty and Brian Cushing both wear #10 for USC.

Well, at least they held them to a FG. This could get ugly fast if the Vols don't get their act together.

Can they practice special teams at half time? They've had a short field all game.

Dawgs look like they have this game wrapped up, but I'll tell you I was very uncomfortable this whole game. I have a feeling this is going to be another Jeckle and Hyde season, because the team is so young. I'm very concerned about South Carolina next week.

10 seconds? How about 15 minutes? I was talking about the 100 yards rushing WSU had in the first quarter. Now, maybe a pace of 400 yards rushing is OK for the big 10, but I would think that most teams wouldn't be happy with that kind of effort. That's why I made the comment when I did.

Obviously, Wisconsin closed it out in the 4th, but their opening run defense was pitiful (especially the 49 yards on 4 straight carries in WSU's second drive).

Actually, the game was over by halftime. What happened in the first quarter was mostly just flukey. Even down 21-7, I wasn't remotely worried - it was obvious the Badgers were in control on both sides of the ball.

I agree. By the end of the second quarter, Wisconsin had the game in hand. I was just a little shocked at their crappy run D early on. Given Michigan's display, this could be a big season for the Badgers if they play their cards right.

I was actually pretty surprised at how poor Washington State looked. I thought that was a pretty decent program, but they don't have a lot of talent, and they didn't look very well coached.

Oh, and there's this no-hitter thing that cut into the K-State/Auburn game. Hope that wasn't too rough for you.

Don't give up yet. I remember watching Stanford/Oregon a few years ago...and Stanford went into Autzen at the height of Joey Harrington mania. They fell down by two td's in the 4th...and it had the look of a game going to hell. Then they came back and won it 49-42.

There's still plenty of time left, and with the way points are being put up on the board, 38 may not be enough to win.

Unbelievable.

Texas needed the refs to screw Arkansas State to put the game away. Arkansas State drove 93 yards to bring the score to 21-13. They recovered the ensuing onside kick but the refs called them for lining up illegally for not having at least 4 men on each side of the kickoff team. Not true. Then the refs conferenced. They changed the call to 12 men on the field. Not true.

Texas recovered the second kick with 55 seconds remaining.

The ref microphones have been horrible today. They weren't working in Tenn/Cal, and I flipped to USC/Idaho, and theirs aren't working.

After electing to kickoff and having a good defensive first series, USC is running all over Idaho and is entering the redzone.

TD Stafon Johnson! I know it's just Idaho but Gable and Johnson looked very good on this first drive. Classy tribute on the field on the XP for Mario Danelo. USC lined up with no kicker and took the delay of game penalty while everyone was remembering Danelo.

Auburn gets more beneficial calls at home than any team in the nation. (Not always bad calls, often borderline calls as well.) Obviously not a conspiracy, just weird how often it happens.
