Well, one label gave me a whopping $100, so I'm not seeing much return on that investment, once I actually have enough money to actually cut a single.

Another label gave me $3000. That will probably make the contract worthwhile.

Actually, you have to pay back the 3 grand to the label before you start to see any profits and they still get 20% of your profits after that.

If you're really interested in making money in this game, leave the labels alone. I think the record contract is an idea that might be cool in the future, but right now, is not very well implimented at all.

It would be neat if being in a top 10 label for instance, helped your release sell better because the public would know about it better/more.

yeah especially if your label is #1 you get super bonuses. I want benefits of bringing this label to #1 status, well ok for at least mooching off the #1 label.

Yeah, they can front you money, but the money isn't worth that much.

If you're starting out and 3k is a big deal, then you can just wait until after the first month of sales to reprint another 3k copies. If you're popular enough to need $100k in order to fill initial demand of the album, then you have $100k in private funds to release the album.

If the idea of record labels is to make it more realistic, then the game needs to make independent recordings sell much, much less than label produced recordings. Or, they could make a record so massively expensive to produce that you need the money that a label fronts you in order to put one out. As it stands right now, labels are a waste of time and money in the game.

Dola-

I would also like to see the ability for labels to add to promotion of an album or act. That would prove valuable and fun.

Yeah- that'd be cool. An exclusivity contract with one studio and one producer.

It's just saying that whatever album or single you release will not be for a label but is something your band is putting out on its own.

Rising Hayabusa's 2nd FOFC Live! Released single "The Story of the H" is heading out this month.

Hopefully a good release will get us enough cash with our touring to get ready for an upcoming album release, tenatively entitled "Eiji Ezaki"

Also, Bubblegum Shock wants to join up with either of the FOFC controlled labels (unfortunately both are full :*()

Well giving my first album a shot, expect Indie Rock band The Pasty White Thighs album, Pasty & Proud to be on shelves this month.

Hope the sucker sells well, put every single dollar the band had into it! Probably should've waited a couple more months, but I got the itch to get something done.

As soon as Rising Hayabusa has two more songs, they'll be ready to release an album too. Gimme!

The Pegs and Bubblegum Shock both have generous offers on the table now.

In true Elitist fashion, we will no longer be accepting applications after these two, as I want to keep the label to around 10 bands.

Gratefully accepted Swaggs.

We already set up our tour for the month, but will be going in to record in the next month or two Once our higher rated songs are up to snuff.

Well, I churned another 250K into it last night so there's $350K in the pot for bands. I had gotten to the point where I was playing $20K per month for lifestyle so better to put that money to a good cause- kindof like the FOFC Live! tax shelter

Fascist Eagle's first album, a self-titled, should be out in 2-3 months (once I get an 8th song).

No, what won't last much longer is the free ride labels get. You know that each month all bands get hit with 'living expenses', but labels have no such encumberance. So an enterprising label owner could currently move all of their money into their label, thereby lowering their band's living expenses. It really is a tax shelter. So expect labels to have 'operating expenses' soon.

Another thing would be to make label money a one way street- you can't take money out, only put it in there. Then it's not like a tax shelter, you are actually giving the money up.

People use businesses all the time as tax shelters... I don't see a problem with this.

Ummm... so, how long do I have to enjoy the benefits of a new label, if I were to go create one?

Sorry - I guess my web hosts took the server down for maintenance just at the time when my nightly sim runs (around 1am EST).

I could run the sim now to catch up, but I think it's more fair to wait until tonight to run the sim.
