I scored my first... and second eagles today on North Wiz in a tourney. On the first par 5 I got a great ice bounce for a 5 yard eagle putt. On the second one I holed it from 180 yards or so. I screwed up a few holes though and ended up -2, which sucks b/c that ties my best, so no extra pang. I did get a new high for pang in a round w/ that hole in, 925 pang.

Luck is apparently on my side today. A 190 yard eagle on a par 4 helps me get 1000+ pang on north wiz, + breaking my course record by 1. Over halfway to having a kinderslut of my very own(that sounds real bad, huh?)

Yes anticipating having your very own little girl, called Kinderslut, to play with sounds bad. On another note. Does anyone know how to control a powercurve shot? I had an obstacle in front of me today, and tried it. Well it didn't exactly go where I wanted it to. I figured it would either land where I had it targetted, or it would fly out straight in the direction I was aimed, and then hook. It didn't do either. |

I've read that the ball will curve to your target, and that is what it does for me. Note that if you press "control-right arrow", the ball will curve right to left, and vice versa if you do it the other way. I have noticed that if you misshit them, they can go anywhere. That's how I kept hitting lighthouses for a while. Last edited by Godzilla Blitz : 06-18-2006 at 01:58 PM. |

Terps, you do know that when you beat a previous record, even by only one shot, you get 1000 pang? This mean you sorta just cost yourself 10,000 pang on that one record beating on Blue Moon...

I've choked badly on blue lagoon the last two times I've played it now. My best is -4, I need to shoot -5 for my next 1000 pang... the last two tourneys I've been at -7 going into the 15th hole and completely imploded, multiple OBs on multiple holes to finish at -1 or -2 at best. I think I can shoot at -8 or -10 on this course if I'm playing well but not lately!

wanted to ask, has anybody here tried to go for the green from the tee on that horseshoe par five on any of the blue courses (Lagoon, Water, or Moon)?
I've never personally tried it but saw one tomahawk a ball about 10 yards from the hole with his driver. He did have 250y power without the powershot and the hole was something 268 yards away, tee to pin, so it was feasible... It was on Blue Water fwiw and the guy told me this hole is the easiest to get an albatross off of, well even easier on Blue Lagoon (same hole), but you get the idea... FM

I started playing this again, but I can't figure out how to increase my ratings. I went up a "level" to BeginnerE, but I still can't change my stats.
Does anyone know how to do that?

Scout isn't really upgradable I think. Anyway, it's through the "My Closet" screen. If there's a little "0/1" or the like next to one skill, you can buy an upgrade with your pangs. The clubs are upgradable through the "equipment store" I think, same process...

Yesterday, my sister gave me Mario Golf for the Gamecube for Father's Day and while I've not had the chance to play it yet, I started reading the game manual and it's quite evident that pangya took some of the gameplay controls straight from it. It's especially evident in the impact marker controlling the spins and ball trajectory...

Wow..
So, I've told you guys I've had troubles playing well... I've only managed ONE -1 in all of my full 18 round games i've played... and that was on Blue Lagoon.. Well, I played a tourney on North Wiz this morning... Something just clicked.. I was -9 starting hole 17, so I was basically able to just completely botch the last two holes intentionally to get my -1... don't know what happened, but it was a Goooooooooood feeling...

450 is very good anywhere else, and still solid on North Wiz, congrats on the great round!

for anybody who's got a few cookies to spend, I can't recommend enough using a special ball with the pang mastery item. That item doubles any pang you get. I just played a round with radii with my water phoenix that gives me 30 pang for every pangya and one more per bounce on those pangya. In that game, I received 382 pang from regular game action, i.e. overdrives, nice approaches, birdies and such, but I also received 1058 bonus pang from hitting pangya around the course. All these 1440 pang got doubled at the end of the round for a sweet total of 2880 pang in the round, and that was only on Sepia Wind, not really anything super special to make high pang totals...

I broke down and put $20 into this, bought the air lance II clubs and have about 230 cookies left over. I don't need a ton of pang right now(except to upgrade the clubs), so I am going to sit on the rest of the cookies to see if new items come out or if I want to go for the double pang stuff later on.

Got the Wife hooked to this. She's probably playing now while I've been called into the office.
We've been playing as we get the chance at night. Playing with just the two of us, so we can pause it when the kids intervene. She's pretty well hooked. I'm sure we'll be buying cookies in no time. |

Dang, very impressive! I'm hoping to be able ramp up my performance soon. I'm 6 experience points away from beginner, at which point I'll be able to buy a caddy, get the +2 power from that, and then go nuts upgrading my new Air Lance II clubs. Hopefully I can work my way up to where I can win a tourney or two at some point too |

Ever since I started playing this game, I've been in a golf mood. Nice coincidence, my sister gave me Mario Golf for the Gamecube for Father's Day, so I played a bit of that. Then, after my mom had given me some money, with the forced recommendation that I use it for myself, I bought TW2006 for the Gamecube over last weekend, so I have been splitting my time between the cube and Albatross.
My wife needed the computer the last couple of days so I'd not touched Albatross at all in two nights. Tonight, she comes home really tired and tells me I can have the PC for me all evening. I fire it up and what do I see? DOWN FOR UPGRADE!!! AAARRGG I guess it's back to the cube for tonight FM

Has double pang kicked in yet?
While playing last night, lag time was very bad. I was disconnected twice within the hour during 2 18 hole rounds. It seems to be ok now, maybe I was on at the wrong time. |

I don't think the wind even matters there. You just need a tomahawk.

Fucking hackers.
Due to a security breach of Albatross18: Realms of Pangya, we are shutting down our servers today (07/03/06 – 10:15 PM PDT: -7 GMT). This was caused due to problems with our Anti-Hack system, GameGuard, just like before. You may have noticed that we had many GameGuard updates over the past week or so. These updates were intended to fix these technical problems within our game, but instead, the situation has only grown worse. Now, we want all of you to remain calm as none of our user information databases have been harmed and we DO NOT store any credit information in our databases. Let me make that clear again, we DO NOT store any personal credit card information in our databases that could be stolen and used later on. We want to make that perfectly clear to all of our cookie buyers out there. The game will be down until further notice while we try to repair this bug in the system, so please check the notices in this section of our website for updates. We will try to have the server back up as soon as possible for all you to play again, but until we feel the system is secure, we will remain closed.

It's been down for a little over 24 hours. I knew there had to be something funny going on in a tournament I played the other night though. It was an Ama Level 3, and the top 2 were both Rookie level. Both had played like 34 hours, and already had near 20 HIO and 10 albatrosses. Average scores of around 50.
That doesn't happen when you're at Rookie level. |
