Will this asinine thread never die? Why don't you guys go save the whales, the rainforests, or Chevy Chase's career? Cry over something you can actually change, since there's no way SD would ever admit he's wrong.

You know, I keep checking this thread for the sole reason of seeing if that's happened yet.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

It's from AA's Big Book. We used to use it on the alcoholics all the time when I worked at a treatment center in college.

So yes, for at least one branch of practical psychology, it is the definition for insanity.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein

No, but they sure are good at beating a dead horse that was a mountain out of a molehill to begin with (be careful- only trained professionals can mix metaphors like that)

There's nothing intellectual about property. It just is.

Some of you might be interested in this little tool...

Quote:
End-user license agreements (EULAs) can seem like just one more hoop to jump through before you can put a new program on your machine. Because EULAs are usually broken down into subsections filled with legalese, many users skim them or ignore them altogether. Unfortunately, as some of our user-submitted Spyware Horror Stories demonstrate, skipping over a EULA can be disastrous. Frequently, software developers acknowledge the presence of adware or spyware in their EULAs, though the disclosure may be cloaked in highly technical language or appear at the bottom of the agreement.

I don't like reading EULAs any more than the next person, but since I download and install quite a bit of software, I have to be vigilant. In the past, closely reading EULAs consumed several hours of each week (and also bored me to tears). However, though I still carefully examine every license agreement that passes across my monitor, a free and ingenious tool called the EULAlyzer has made my life a lot easier. Brought to market by the makers of SpywareBlaster, the EULAlyzer does exactly what its name implies: analyzes a EULA for certain words and phrases that could designate privacy threats and general annoyances. The application scans even lengthy EULAs in seconds, then flags any text it finds remotely suspicious. The EULAlyzer latches on to terms such as advertising, third-party, and promotional messages, but it also calls out any bundled adware or spyware components by name. To help you save even more time, the program's Interest Level meter ranks phrases according to importance level. Reading a EULA will probably never be fun, but the more help we get from software, the more time we'll all have for livelier pursuits.
