It's hard to be impressed by TCU putting up 59 when Wisconsin is putting up 70.

That was a great call by Miles with the TO, because his defense was gassed.

Arkansas O-line has looked as impressive in the second half as any I have seen this year, and they have a couple of great backs. God I wish Broderick Green had been able to stay at USC.

You can hit a sliding qb in the SEC? How could this be reviewed for anything but a penalty on Arkansas?

Dola - seriously ballsy call by Sark to go for it on 4th and inches with seconds left on the clock and down by 3, but I like it. If the Huskies can take care of business next week in Pullman, this season will have rebounded nicely for Sark and the Huskies (though probably not enough to rescue Jake's draft prospects).

Also, would Michigan fire RichRod already and hire Harbaugh away from Stanford? I really don't want to see him coaching in the Pac-12 North...

I am sick right now, 17-16 loss to Utah on a blocked FG as time runs out!!! Guess it was a great way to end the rivalry as it stands now, coming right down to the end, but a 19-17 BYU win would have been a helluva lot better.

This is the other thing about the whole system - the fact that conferences have a vested (monetary) interest in one team winning vs another. It benefits the conference for teams to go through undefeated, for 1-loss teams to remain 1-loss teams. And when goofy calls happen...

Hopefully the officials keep the UGAg-GT game under control from the outset. These are two frustrated & disappointed teams coming in, emotions are always high, and a blowout is pretty likely. Just seems like a case where things could get out of hand pretty easily IMO.

Another brilliant playcall by CPJ. Gives away the momentum & comes up empty after Georgia fumbled the opening kickoff. In case you're wondering, it isn't for the lack of a kicker that he passed up a 36 yd FGA. Blair is 7-7 inside 30 and 15-17 inside 40.

It drives me crazy when teams basically play for the onside kick.

LSU had time at the end on their last drive of the game, down 11, and didn't seem to hurry. They needed to do EVERYTHING possible to score and give themselves time to kick away and try to get a punt back. Hurry-up, spiking the ball, quick-kick the FG once you're in range, anything. Because once you're in a position to onside kick, you're basically done. You have a 10% of the getting the ball, and then something less than 50% to actually score - so you're looking at a 5% or so miracle shot at winning at that point, best case scenario.

I wonder how much Urban Meyer is missing Tebow about now. He is looking like an average coach at the moment, and Florida is looking like a below average team.

I love it.

Totally random note from the GT-UGA football broadcast. If you saw the opening segment before kickoff, where the ESPN crew was having their post-Thanksgiving meal, that's where my family went for Thanksgiving lunch.

Amazing how Pinkel has built Mizzou into a perennial power in college football. He's putting up numbers that rival Faurot and Devine. Would love to see him hang around and see if he can chase down Faurot. He's definitely going to blow by Devine in the next 4-5 years. 48-18 in the last five years with a bowl game still to come. We'll take it.

USC is down to a walkon and a true freshman who wasn't supposed to play this year at safety. If this isn't a 21+ point Notre Dame win, I'll be pretty amazed.

Wanna know how bad the year has been for the state of Georgia?

So far this year, GT is 1-4 against D1 teams with a winning record. Georgia is 0-5 against D1 teams with a winning record.

I don't see why. You could see green between his toe and the line. Heck, the fumble recovered by Tech earlier should have been overturned. The ball was sliding under him until he was out of bounds.

Only if you're hallucinating as badly as the worthless replay official. Ray Charles saw the SOB's foot on the line.

It's two shitty teams playing shitty, but it sucks to see a completely blown call play such a big role.

Meanwhile, LOL at the bad commentary about so-and-so "forcing the fumble". The ball hit the RB in the f'n face mask on the pitch.

Another Norte Dame turnover, I can't believe this game is still tied. It won't be for long though.

What strikes me about this game is that GT looks about like GT, this is by & large what they look like. After the initial surge early, Georgia just looks flat to me, and I don't really understand that. This game is for their bowl lives & either they have zero respect for GT being a threat or they simply don't care much.

Tell you the other thing that I come away from this game with, some respect for Tevin Washington.

He may lose this game before the night is over for all I know, but I'll give him this: I sense that he's really trying awfully damned hard.

That my friends is what life as a GT fan is like. It's what I remember enduring since I was 5 years old. That fandom has shaped a good bit of my outlook on life, contributing to my cynicism, my pessimism (which is really just realism), my glass quarter full expectations while walking this mortal coil.

Anyone seeing anything on the rumors that WVU coach Bill Stewart is planning to retire?

I'm hoping it is just a mistaken messageboard post or blog report.

USC drops a wide open pass that would have won them the game. I know there isn't much interest in USC-Notre Dame but this is a pretty good game in a downpour.

Oh wow. Down 20-16, Mustain throws a long pass to a wide open Ronald Johnson, it hits him right in the hands, and he drops it. Around 1:30 left, USC now faces a 4th and 7 near midfield. Johnson could have walked into the endzone there.

GT lets Ealey go the distance, it's 42-34 with 1:29 to play. With no timeouts that's the only chance Tech had, however slim it might be.

Yes! Interception. That awful streak should finally be over.

edit: But on their own 1 yard line, ND can't just take two kneel downs. Hmm...

Game over, Notre Dame wins 20-16. Despite the 7-5 record I feel better about the team's future than I have in awhile. They can finally play some defense.

Josh Nesbitt was coaching every play wasn't he? Loved seeing him trying to do what he could tonight.

Washington ultimately came up short but he acquitted himself well, no complaints about his effort from me. And there's nothing I can say that would make Scott Blair feel any worse than he already does, so no point in going there either. The game was lost in the 1st quarter when two plus possessions resulted in no points.
