In our team forum we discuss openly what tactics we are going to use. Also, they could click on every player and see all the strengths and weaknesses (if they have it set so team can view..) Last edited by dbd1963 : 03-24-2008 at 03:30 PM. |

It looks like I'll hit level 2 with the next training update. I'll then use flex points to boost a level.

Right - but aren't the team tactics INCREDIBLY limited right now? Is there really any advantage to be gained from this at this stage of the game?

Keep in mind that I can't see what the team tactics interface looks like - so I'm partially asking to understand what you're talking about.

OK, here's a fer instance -- just before our last game we discussed how we wanted our DBs to play based on what we were seeing from their QB. What do you think you could do with that information?
The tactics controls are very basic, but you can set how much and where you want to run, The kinds of passes you'll throw, how much zone you'll play, blitzing percentage, how much you run d vs pass d you'll play. If you are openly talking about that and your opponent is hearing it, they have an advantage. |

Anybody else thinking that these guys better really beef up their ISP bandwidth and/or server capacity?
It has gotten progressively slower and more difficult to load pages in the last day or so. Much worse than Friday or Saturday, when you might have expected would be high traffic days. Since the site just started recently, it makes me think they might crash this Saturday. |

Sorry MacroGuru - first I didn't realize the Admirals were your team. Second, I wanted to be on Wade's team.

I think I wasn't assuming anything too much, since it was the owner and starting QB of a team I will play later this season. I don't want to keep justifying what I did or what I thought. If others would make a different decision that's cool. |

Why does the owner need to discuss tactics openly? The owner is the only one who can see that the team is going to run to the left 50% of the time, so unless he tells the entire team, how is that going to give the game away? Suggestions from players to the coach are fine, but have to be taken with a grain of salt (like "make sure you're throwing me the ball a lot". Which isn't a bad idea, Larry. I converted nearly 70% of the passes thrown my way with no drops. But I digress.) But the only "strategy" that a spy could take away from that is if the QB told his LT and LG to make sure to have their tactics set to run block in view of everyone. Maybe owners just need to make sure individual tactic settings are set via PM. Or nominate captains for each position group to relay group settings from the owner/coach.
Bottom line is, I don't think the game has evolved to the point where preparing for games is particularly collaborative. It's still dice rolls in the computer, and I think it would take real time weeks of training changes to materially take advantage of advance knowledge of a team's strengths and weaknesses. |

If anyone is lookign for a team, here's what my team has in terms of human players. NOTE: the numbers in parenthesis are the levels of the highest human players, not how many. For example, the QB(4), means that I have a Level 4 QB. But I only have one human QB on the roster, so there's room for at least one more. The positions at which I have more than 2 humans have been marked as well.
QB (4) RB (1) FB (2) WR (4) (We have two guys at 4, then no one else above one.) TE (2) C (no human players) OG (no human players) OT (4, 1) DT (only one human) DE (We have three DEs, all are level 2.) LB (Only two human LBs, both level 4.) CB (3, 1) SS (2) FS (2) P (no human player) K (4)

Okay, so it's just 2/3 dice rolls. To clarify, there's little we can do as individuals to direct the flow of the game, as opposed to, say, 16 player deathmatch FPS games. The balance of the attributes and range of training options lead me to believe that the advanced tactics really add much variance to the outcome of the game. I still have to see a larger sample, though. |

Thanks was wondering who the main guys were. Probably have to be some way to put some type of controls on owners especially if you are spending real $. In essence, a team is a type of 'guild' and if I was playing WoW online and was forced to deal with someone like this for 40 days until I could do anything, I wouldn't hang around.

If you've signed with Lowcountry, please report to the in-game team forum for discussions. It looks like you have to be logged in and own a player on the team to see that forum. Nice little automated feature there.

Today's game between the Silverbacks and Ninjas -- looking at the team ratings, the Ninjas are a yellow 21, which means they are close to a 24. The silverbacks are a red 18, which means closer to 18. Is this a big difference? I guess we're about to see..

They had a level 6 receiver that made us look really bad, especially on an 80 yard TD where it looks like Southwell fell down.

Rough game for us. I feel somewhat ok with my performance, I think they did run it more than their previous game and we did an ok job of keeping it short gains mostly. I got my stamina past 20 now, but only played 31 plays. I'm wondering if I should back off my play intensity a bit perhaps?
Used my flex points to improve breakthrough (level 6 now) and defensive line general (level 2 now). Going to work on my speed a bit as my other skills look ok for starting out. I read the important skills for DT are Strength, Tackling, Agility, speed. For me I don't know being a NT that I need a ton of speed, but probably a little improvement there wouldn't hurt for me. |
