No way is Flacco worth that. I'd say $10-12m max. Win a Super Bowl, maybe tack on a couple mil.

Its amazing how much Moss is still feared in the league - the DB's give him 5 yard cushions because they're terrified of him running past them or leaping over him.

I love Frank Gore's shorts.

I'm rooting for Moss.

That's not for Moss. That's just how the Lions's DBs play.

If he plays hardball they'll have to give him what he wants. That team is getting old and has a narrow window on defense. Starting over with a new QB would be a disaster. For them, Flacco is irreplaceable regardless of price.

I have to say, win or lose, I'm impressed with the Lions game plan tonight. They aren't in panic mode. They are running the ball with a purpose. Even if it isn't pretty, they are working that game. If Stafford were playing even halfway well, this would be a tie game right now. Stafford has been horrible.

Yet, they are still in this thing. You cannot ask for more.

Flacco hits Lee Evans on the fucking numbers...he catches that and they are in the Super Bowl. What is he supposed to do?

Smith is the first reasonably talented big play WR Flacco has had.

You must have not watched last year. Gore had 141 yards on 15 carries against them.

Indirect reaction to Johnson being on the Madden and SI covers. Megatron stays awesome, but QB throwing to him sucks it up and thus less Megatron.

Alex Smith is turning into a very good QB. His numbers don't include the 3 dropped catches.

Given the way they run the ball, the defense, and the conditions the Niners look unbeatable at home.

I keep reading this and it is accurate. Kills me, but it is accurate.

That still wouldn't have put him elite in my book. I really liked what he was doing this year. It felt different to me. In the first half of the game today, he made some tough throws. Some very, very pretty throws. Then he collapsed in the second half. Winning QB's take some responsibility for that. Not Mr. Flacco. It's all about the refs. Sorry, that doesn't scream elite QB to me.

It looks a lot like Jay Cutler to me. (with the caveat that his teammates actually like him)

We'll see how he bounces back next week.

Don't disagree, but I thought the Lions played them about as well as they could be played. you do that in the playoffs, you have a chance. A little better play out of Stafford, a stop on third down here or there and they have a chance in this game. The 49ers are a great team, but I wouldn't lose faith if I was a Lions fan. I think they can be had if they stick with this gameplan. The Niners are still the better team, but as we know the playoffs just means you have to be the better team for one Sunday. I think the Lions can compete with them in that situation.

Odd to think Alex Smith is the 49er QB with the longest streak of not throwing an INT for the franchise.

Yep, they play like a well oiled machine. Very few off throws from Smith today, a couple of dropped passes that should've been caught, and a great running game. Clear #1 at this point.

Yeah, the 49ers are just a very good team. They do it all very well.

Hopefully, being a copycat league, a few more teams look to play some basic, solid football. It's a lot more fun to watch than the video games on turf that most teams seem to want to be.

I hate the 49ers, but really like what Harbaugh is doing with that team.

I do wonder if we'll see a shift the other way. When teams started throwing the ball all the time, defenses have tried to adjust by going smaller and faster on their end. You hear about linebackers dropping weight, teams going after smaller speed rushers. So will we see some teams go toward a power offense again? If all these defenses are getting smaller and faster, maybe the smart offenses get bigger and stronger to overpower them.

I do think we'll see things get back to normal when the real refs take over. While the replacements have been horrible, the one nice thing they do is not call every little piece of contact downfield that some teams rely on.

Or they'll do what New England is doing. Continue running their version of the spread offense with 2 tight ends that they can shift into the slot to match up against these DBs and smaller linebackers.

Out of all four games, I think the only real big surprise was the Cards over the Patriots. Seattle is always tough at home, the Rams looked pretty good last week and RG3 is a still a rookie, and the 49ers are probably the best team in the NFL right now.

Anyone see the ref correct himself in the Jets-Steelers game? "First down, Pittsbu -- Central Michigan." The announcer called him out for pointing the wrong way to indicate the first down, but didn't call him out for saying Central Michigan. WTF?

Was it at least Antonio Brown who got the first down? (That rhymes.)

Speaking of 49ers DB's Goldson might be the most underrated player in the league. I knew he was decent and made a pro bowl but he's an integral part of that defense - great player

Great game by Smith, Crabtree, and Gore. Davis had some nice over the shoulder catches, but that long pass down the sideline should have been caught.

Manningham was a surprising contributor last night, too. I thought he looked quite spry, especially on that WR screen.

The 49ers did exactly what I thought they would do last night - Dominate. Up until the last garbage time drive by the Lions, the 49ers had out-gained Detroit in total yards 352 to 199. The 49ers are, in my mind, the best in the league at taking away whatever the offense is best at. Every team they play seems to be off-balance and struggling to make first downs.

I've watched every 49er game since I was 10 years old (start of the '92 season), and this is the most impressed I've been since the Super Bowl team of '94. We had a great squad in '98, but Young was starting to show some age, and I think our linebackers now are better than Norton/Plummer/Woodall.

Cinci's defense better wake up quick. Getting Moch and Dunlap back will be a step in the right direction, But it's getting close to time to give Allen and Kirkpatrick a good deal of snaps in the secondary. The linebackers, well I don't know what to do with them. Losing Howard hurts quite a bit and Maualuga misses as many plays as he makes. Hopefully Burfict will continue to show up and improve as the season wears on so we can let Rey walk in the offseason.

I've seen Rey miss a bunch. And he doesn't make too many. He's terrible as a MLB.

I finally saw the play in question here and I don't see what the big deal is. First, the victory formation pulls everyone in to block to prevent things like this from happening. Second, it was very obvious pre-snap that Tampa was going to go after the ball. The Giants players were caught offguard and Eli was knocked to the ground because of it.

If Tampa makes it clear they intend to play to the final whistle then the Giants can't take the final play off and then get mad because their QB got hit.

I don't understand ESPN. They have a half an hour of SportsCenter, followed by two hours of Monday Night Countdown but spend practically the entire SportsCenter talking about the NFL.

Wonder if that's game, set and match in Goodell vs Vilma.. apparently today at the follow up meeting, the NFL handed Vila a sworn statement from coach Gregg Williams that Vilma had offered $10,000 to anyone who put Favre out of the game.
