I just don't even know what to say. The 49er Defense was incredibly impressive up until the very end of the game. Shaun Hill played a very good game, and the Niners didn't fold even though they were without their most talented offensive player for nearly the entire game. The Vikings pulled this game out by the skin of their teeth, and good on them for not giving up...but to say that the Niners didn't belong on the same field is just ridiculous.

I do not agree with the Viking post. The niners have a strong defense. And as far as unusual events see my above post.

I think the niners win their division FYI. Gore needs to stay healthy but I like Singletarys coaching style and Willis is a stud.

If we are talking about the best team through three weeks, all of the unbeaten teams have issues. The Ravens have an impressive win against the Chargers surrounded by KC and Cleveland at home. The Giants have a nice win against the Cowboys surrounded by wins against two truly horrific teams. The Vikings have a nice win against the Niners with two against the league's worst. The Saints and Colts have also played some bad teams.

All things being equal, I think you can put the Ravens, Giants and Jets in a hat and not be ashamed of calling any of them the best. That said, there are a slew of teams that are 2-1 who are damned good football teams. (Patriots, Chargers and Eagles for example) who are in the discussion.

Times Denver held an opponent under 16 points last year in ONE game: 2.
Times Denver allowed an opponent DOUBLE 16 points last year: 5.

I know, it's the competition. Times Denver played a team ranked 20th or lower in scoring offense last year: 8.

I'm trying not to be a revisionist or a hater but the only reason I liked the Haley hire was because I liked and trusted Pioli. In the back of my head though there were the concerns: Are we getting the guy Pioli and Parcells worked with or are we getting the guy who was OC for a 9-7 team that got hot at the right time and had sideline fights with his star QB and WR?

Right now it's looking like the second guy. Haley fired Chan Gailey to takeover as OC and the offensive gameplanning has been erratic. Yes, he has no offensive line. But Gailey had a worse offensive line and Tyler Thigpen last year and he scored some points with creative gameplanning and strategy. Haley is bound and determined to run his offensive whether he has the talent for it or not.

I'm all for losing the battle if it means winning the war but I don't see how losing and playing poorly leads to winning later. He doesn't have the horses to run his offense -- he needs to take advantage of his limited strengths and minimize his weaknesses, and so far I don't see anything in his makeup that leads me to believe he can do that.

Yeah, I feel bad lumping you in with the randomly ridiculous post. It just seems that the extremists are going to even greater lengths than usual with this one. Frustrating loss, but with many good signs. Hopefully we can use it as something to build off of - and I think Singletary is the perfect coach to use it as a momentum builder instead of letting it completely demoralize the team.

Let me start this by saying three things:

1) I look at schedules too. I make the same judgements about them.
2) I've thought from teh start of the preseason that Denver wouldn't win more than 6 games this year.
3) The schedule at first glance LOOKS brutal.

The reality? This is the NFL. A crazy tip of the pass and the Bengals are 3-0. The Patriots and Bills are a kickoff fumble from beign 1-2 and 2-1 respectively. The Jets blast the Texans, the Colts struggle to beat the Jags, the Titans lose a heartbreaker to the Steelers in week one. So the Titans should maul the Texans in week two and the Cardinals are probably looking at a tough game on the road in Jax? Ummmm. . . no. Texans with a huge win and the Jags with a huge loss. Obviously, the Texans will now pound the Jags. Ummm. . . no.

The Broncos next five is Dallas, NE at home. San Diego, Baltimore on the road. The Steelers at home.

Which of these teams does Denver get? Do the Cowboys look so unbeatable now that the Broncos beating them the week after they have a Monday night game look impossible? Does Denver get the dominant Patriots team that played the Falcons or the ugly Pats team that should have lost its first 2? How about the Steelers? Do they have their running game fixed by that week?

Looking at the schedule in the NFL is fools gold both ways. That said, Denver does still suck. So they could lose all five. . . I'm just careful about blanket statements in this league.

Seemed like the field glistened and shined and made it really difficult to pick up the ball sometimes. First time I've actually hated watching a football game in HD.

$20 Home Passes Allow Fans To See Cowboys Stadium At Home

After selling over thirty thousand $29 “Party Passes” to help set the NFL’s single-game attendance record on opening night, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced today that the team will now offer special $20 home passes to anyone who would like to attend a game at Cowboys Stadium while sitting at home.

“This stadium represents the next generation of sports entertainment complexes,” said Jones in a radio interview. “We know there’s a real buzz about this place across the Dallas area now, so we want as many people to be able to enjoy this new facility as possible. Even if they can’t afford a premium seat, or even a Party Pass. This $20 price point is a great way to come visit Cowboys Stadium by looking at it on television.”

Customers living in Dallas who purchase the home passes will be able to watch the entire stadium at home via a special relay signal from their local FOX affiliate, and will be able to walk the stadium grounds by watching a FOX camera crew walk the stadium grounds. “That way,” explained Jones, “you’re as close to the action as possible. You’re gonna see the natural light coming in from the sides, the steel trusses… everything. We’re gonna give you your money’s worth, that’s for damn sure.”

But the passes do come with certain restrictions. Customers parking at the Cowboys Stadium lot to go watch the game at home will pay a separate $75 fee. Customers who purchase the home passes will also not be allowed to access any of the stadiums concierge-level stadium clubs, bathrooms, or concession stands. You either dont watch football or you dont understand it I am guessing. The Vikings dont get rushed on. It doesnt matter if its Michael Turner, Frank Gore or Cedric Benson they will all get shut down. The teams with better running backs are actually at a disadvantage because they continue to try and run with no success while teams without great backs just give up and pass the entire game like teams should against the Vikings so yes Gore was going to be a non factor. You find a game in the past 3 years where a RB had a decent game against the Vikings. Coffey ended up with 25 carries 54 yards, Gore would have probably had less yards as they would have keyed on him more. Perhaps Gore catching the ball out of the backfield would have helped I will give you that.

They are giving up 3.5 yards per carry this year, 3.3 last year, 3.1 the year prior and 2.8 the year prior to that. Its just not a smart play to run the ball against them.

Adrian Peterson himself would struggle to get 50 yards against the Vikings defense.

It will be.

While Henne was pretty impressive during his 4 years at Michigan and put up very good numbers, I often found his play frustrating. He was John Navarre 2.0, but perhaps with a little more talent and athleticism. I really think he benefitted from having a lot of talent at WR position during most of his career (i.e., Braylon Edwards, Mario Mannigham, Steve Breaston, Adrian Arrington, and Jason Avant).

You are absolutely insane if you think the current Minnesota D is anything resembling what it used to be. Pat Williams is straight up old and needs to come off the field too much.

Then again, you think Peterson would struggle to get 50 when Jamal Lewis and Kevin Smith didn't, so I guess there's no hope.

So you think they are much worse this year? I'll log that to my memory bank along with the people that said Favre will throw 20 ints this year and that Cutler is a top tier QB. I imagine I will have plenty of ammo after the season the way things are headed I was surprised the Kevin Smith had such a good game against the Vikings defense. Of course when you have to double cover CJ the whole game it could leave some holes in the defense.
