That is about what NFL.com says for him Arles. Strong, hard to tackle, basically just needs to work on technique

how the bengals passed up on a corner like Justin Miller, opting to take a ILB is astounding. we have 3 quality LB's, no need to try another

Without Romeo and without any depth on defense, I certainly hope we're done with Mankins picks here in New England. Blackstock offers some of that flexibility Belichick loves.

Any info on Brodney Pool out of Oklahoma? Cleveland grabbed him in Round 2 - I've read the NFL profile, but don't know much about him.

No Mankins pick because they traded it to Baltimore.

Frank Gore for the Niners. Nice pick if he stays healthy.

He has the talent to be a top notch safety. However, he sometimes gets burn on deep patterns because he focuses too much on making a stop near the line of scrimmage. He doesn't have great recovery speed.

Walter was an interesting pick by the Raiders. Seeing him out here in Arizona, I think he's one of those good college QBs that doesn't translate well in the pros.

and now Oakland drafts a QB in Andrew Walter. Interesting to see how he does since he's coming off shoulder surgery and hasn't done any drills in the offseason.

Looks more like he's going to be a second day (5th round?) draft pick.

Foot meet mouth.

Well, Mike Sherman just refered to Mike Collins as helping them out at safety and in the dime package, and Terrence Murphy as helping the return game and being a #4 WR. I guess we know their great expectations in their second round guys now.....

Watching the rest of this press conference, I feel a little bad for Sherman. They keep asking about new G.M. Tommy Thompson and how he has been and his call on things. But, then again if Sherman didn't do things like draft a punter who bombed in the 3rd round maybe he wouldn't have to answer these questions....

ESPN keeps saying that Barnes is the highest drafted OT by Jags since Boselli. But he's not. Barnes was taken pick 52 overall, both Pearson and Williams are OTs taken in the second round previously with a higher pick in the round. Idiot fact checkers. You'd think someone with ESPN would have noticed by now.

I love the media.

media guy: Did Javon Walker retaining Drew Rosenhaus as his agent and the possibility of a future holdout lead you to the WR pick?

Sherman: Uhm, that didn't factor in. He was the highest guy on our board.

They also said he is going to be competing for the starting FS spot. The Dime would be if he loses that competition - and it's not uncommon for first round picks at DB to start in the nickel or dime.

That return game was brutal for GB in 05. Plus, after Walker, the durability for Ferguson (neck) and Driver (size) are a big concern. I don't mind them getting a WR that can return.

Going into the draft, GB had the following needs:

1. LB
2. FS, DB depth
3. rush DE
4. returner
5. WR
6. QB of the future
7. OL depth

To this point, they have used three picks and targeted 4 of their main 7 needs. If they can get a LB, pass rusher and OL depth in the next few rounds, they can come out of this draft OK.

Arizona's had a good draft so far. Green is a good corner to get in round 3.

Oh, I wasn't really complaining, just babbling a little about the guys and what Sherman was saying. What you say is correct and I don't have a big problem with anything yet. A little odd on the WR I think, but I also like what I read on him so no big deal I guess.

Although, I did not have LB at #1 need going in. The signing of Reynoch Thompson yesterday, and the scheduled visit of Chad Brown next week told me they would like to go in with veteran guys at LB if possible.

edit: Ray Thompson

Excellent point on Thompson and Brown. That does change the needs a little bit if both come here.

Wondering where he and Clarett will go will make the 2nd day interesting for a change.

He'll actually play QB somewhere, eh? Or will they try to convert him?

FYI, GB traded down for an extra pick:

Quote:
Panthers get: Green Bay's third-round pick (No. 89 overall) and selected DT Atiyyah Ellison.
Packers get: Carolina's fourth-round picks (No. 115 and 126).

He's in a group of about 5 guys at the DT spot and he doesn't fit Bates' system. I like the move as it gives GB three picks in the top 25 in the 4th tomorrow to get some defensive help. Right now, there are still a lot of DE, DT, and LBs grouped together and getting one more of those guys may be a better bet. Plus, it may allow them to get a guy for the OL.

Yeah, I am fine with it. They also now have back to back picks with one of those picks right after Green Bays own 4th rd pick.

Guard (utility guy, guard/center) would be nice, thats for sure.

Another good value with Blaystock for Arizona. An OLB/pass rush DE tweener, but he should help Arizona's D.

The only good thing i liked from the madden next gen is the play calling system, when it looks like you are in the huddle looking up.
Probably won't be in the final version then
