Which reminds me of what a co-worker said yesterday as we were eating lunch. Taco Bell's having an "El Presidente" contest, and it says you can win 30 million pesos instantly. So my co-worker reads that and says, "What's that worth, like, a couple chalupas?"

I laughed.

Another tie bid ($13), but Team Radii grabs New Hampshire by a half-hour.

South Dakota is next up.

tarcone takes South Dakota as his fourth state, for a $15 bid.

Michigan is now on the block.

At this point, I'll be disappointed if tarcone doesn't get ND or Nebraska (especially ND). Texas was apparently an abberation in his little Great Plains world.

Butter of 69 takes Michigan as his second state for a $27 bid, and we now move into scoring for stage 2.

Please select your second state and post your value choices ASAP.

Good score for Hawaii, but considering how much I paid for it I was shooting for 20. Natural beauty actually gave me trouble - I struggled a bit to pick out one thing and just hoped the judges liked that choice.

I'm a bit disappointed with only receiving a 4 for pineapple although I admit it was far more important to the state's economy in the past, but so was sugarcane. I think Kona coffee would have done worse. I am definately interested to hear what the judges thought.

Well, I overpaid for Rhode Island, but I'm pleased with the score I ended up with from it. Didn't drop too far, and I think I've got some nice states lined up.

And oh yeah, my one remaining dollar for Maryland!

It seems that FOFC like to overrate football franchises (Cowboys) and underrate baseball (Cards)

It looks the other judges and I were pretty close on everything. I'll do a summary later but I am wondering about the Cards, I scored them a 5. Coug, do you not come up with your own scores? Fwiw, I will argue that the scores for RI, MS and IA were right on.

I think you guys did a good job with RI. I might quibble a bit over the Providence Waterfront (which has undergone a HUGE makeover and becoming quite the place to go to for people in SE New England), but it is JUST Providence, so I'd be quibbling. I feel fortunate to come up with 12 points total for the state.

I don't have any complaints with 3 of the MS scores, it's just the Freedom Summer one ...

FWIW, I don't think it should be 5, but I would have scored it a 4 for sure...

Sugar cane was not an option as it and the pineapple industry here are almost nonfactors to the economy. Pineapple works in that it is probably to most recognizeable. I would have probably chosen Kona Coffee because it has the name in it, I mean a pineapple could come from anywhere but Kona coffee comes from Kona (accept no substitutes. ). Macadamia Nuts were also on my mind as I see the tourists buy boxes and boxes of them to take with them on the plane rides back.

Can't argue with Pearl. I would have liked to have seen how Hawaiian Monarchy (historic) or polytheism (historic culture) would have done.

I also would have went with Kilauea but as a natural beauty and then put in North Shore as a Sports/Attraction. Of course I have no idea if it would of scored higher.

That's my 18 years worth.
