I didn't know he was on SNL, but I just imdb'd him and it does say he was on SNL in 85-86.

He was on for a bit but didn't do much, then he got fired because he was playing "second cop" in a skit, but when it came time for the live show he dressed up as the Gay Cop he used on In Living Color, causing Loren Michaels to fire him (the only guy hes ever fired). Michaels said he respcted Wayans for doing that though, and reccommends him for movies. |

Wayans is a great pick, although I really think he should have been picked for sketch.

Just in case this happens again, I'll pull a rule out of my ass:
If you take a guy at a position that you already have filled, the draft will continue. You can either change his position, or drop him and make a new pick if nobody else has picked yet. But if someone else has picked in the meantime, their pick stands (similar to being late on a pick in the NFL draft), and so does yours. bub is up.

Jane is just solid, and, IMO, underrated. She is a very professional comedian. She was one of the original SNL cast members, and--while quite funny in her own right when she needed to be--excelled at playing the straight-laced straight man (or woman) character off of whom the other more "wacky" cast members could play. That kind of acting, IMO, can be a lot harder to do well than just being crazy--but it is the glue that helps keep a comedy routine going.
And, here's a bit of trivia: A devout Catholic, Jane never engaged in the wild and crazy backstage after-parties for which the cast was famous. And, speaking of great SNL Alumns, great steal of Chevy Chase there. |

Here we with back to back picks (albion almost blew this for me earlier ). With picks 7.10 and 8.1, I will take Bud Abbott and Lou Costello for movies.
"Who's On First" is one of the most famous comedy routines ever and is still very well known and satired pieces ever. I remember it was actually in one of my reading textbooks when I was in grade school. They made a ton of popular (and very profitable) movies in the 40s and 50s, including all of their monster classic "Abbot and Costello Meet _____," films. Comedy icons. |

Great picks... I was wondering if/when the people with picks at the end of a round would nab a duo.

I think Hooks was the second best female on SNL, behind only Radner.

Ok, 1 sitcom, 1 sketch and 1 movie left....
I'll fill out my sitcom selection with Ted Danson sitcom. Cheers was a classic series and I also really liked Becker. |

Danson's an interesting choice... undisputed lead of one of the top sitcoms of all time, but (as far as I know) never actually had a standup career like most of the other folks on our lists. How will the voters react?

I would hope the voters would vote simply based on how the people did exclusivly in the role we draft them for. But I guess I don't make the decision. |

Looks like I am up...time for my desperation pick. I need to fill my talk show/variety slot and since all the obvious and good choices are gone, I'll go with the talk show host I watched during the early 90's, my formative high school years. If you dis him, I'll put you in the dogpound!

You can ask Maple Leafs. I actually had sent up the card with Arsenio's name on it before I sent up another runner to tackle the first guy and send Don Rickles instead. I just could not decide if Arsenio was funny or not, or if I just thought that he was funny in 7th grade. However, since most of us watched Arsenio while we were growing up, I think that he is a pick that will work with a lot of the voters. |

dola--
An idea. This will require us to either go on the honor system or have voting made public--things with which people may not be comfortable, and I understand if that is the case. However, if we can agree on how to do it, I think that it would be neat if all of the team owners had to vote, but had to vote for a team other than their own. We are as invested in this draft as anyone, and it is kind of a shame that (I assume) all of our votes are just going to go for our own teams. Kind of a waste of good knowledge there. |

Great value choice, IMO - a solid guy who headlined one of the 5 best sitcoms of all time - easily a 2nd or 3rd rounder - I can't believe he slipped this far. |

I actually have a pick from Schmidty since he sent a list several rounds ago. But I'll give him a little while to pick on his own since his strategy may have shifted over the last while.

Damn you Schmidty! He was going to be my next pick...I thought about taking him for variety show, he and Gracie Allen had a great show, but I wasn't sure if people would know him for that or for standup...so I took Hall to fill my talk show slot and then was going to take Burns for standup next round. Grrrrrrrrr..... |

DeToxRox is executing what I believed to be a pitch-perfect strategy of compiling a brilliantly subversive and counter-culture lineup. I think he's the darkhorse to win the the popular vote because I think his lineup will appeal to a strong demo --
Wait -- Craig Kilborne??? OK, fess up, who stole DeToxRox's password? |

Actually, I like Kilborn -- he's a bit smug at times, and Jon Stewart improved on what he did, but he really grew on me hosting the 1 a.m. SportsCenter back in the day -- he and Brett Haber were a decent team. I just can't picture Kilborn in with the rest of DeToxRox's lineup.

Catherine O'Hara - stand up
Although she's mostly known for films and sketch comedy, I was suprised to find out that she's an excellent stand up comedian as well. She's one of my favorites, is a woman, and qualifies for stand up - Easy choice for me.

Dola.
After looking over my final list, I think that I might not win since I have so many classics, and not as many trendy/hip comics; however, I am extremely happy with my list. This was so fun. Great idea Sean, and I hope we do something similar soon.

Glad you enjoyed it Schmidty... but don't forget, you have one more pick to go.
For my pick, I'll take a guy who seems to represent decent value at this point. Some love him, some hate him, but in round nine how can you go wrong with... 9.4 Adam Sandler (sketch)
