Not an obvious drop. Not a drop at all. I wish that challenge had been in time since the call would have been confirmed.

The ball obviously hit the turf and was braced by the turf. He needed to have control before it hits the turf to not be changed.

I thought throwing the ball in the stands was an auto 15. Was that changed?

The second replay I saw confirmed what he was saying. The turf held up the ball. It looked pretty obvious to me.

The ball was in his hands the whole time and wasn't moving. I've never seen them overturn a call in a case like that.

Odd, that isn't what I saw at all. I'd compromise and say inconclusive, but I actually thought the replay confirmed the call. A hand on each point of the ball, and the ball didn't even shift in his hands when everything hit the ground. Looked like control to me....not that the call will change the game at all.

They said it on the telecast, but Favre is ripping it up on 3rd down in the second quarter:

4-4, 70 yards, 1 TD, 4 first downs.

We'll never know for sure, they won't show it. End of the day, it didn't matter anyway.

This was a huge Vikings drive assuming they can finish it off.

Looked like a holding to me.

Bad call. Really, really bad call.

If it weren't for the offside, I'd have felt horribly for the Pack there.

Okay, it doesn't matter, there was an offsides penalty called. It wasn't Pass Interference, but man...whew!

I swear I'm not trying to be difficult...but I thought the PI call was decent.

At least at full speed I agreed with it.

7 penalties for GB to 0 for the Vikes. I wish the Pack could get that kind of home cooking from the refs.

I'm glad I decided to actually sit down and watch this game. Fun one, and it has been great to see Favre actually pepper in a few throws looking like his old self. I wouldn't say it's case closed that he's going to be great for the Vikes, or that he will lead them to the promised land, but with him playing like this, that's a really dangerous team.

Perhaps i should rephrase, you seem sensitive:

"Are you sure you just don't have a very selective memory about taunting penalties since one very recently hurt your team?"

More later as I need to head out for a bit,but there were 15 taunting penalties called last year that i can find, 2 so far this year according to foxsports, but googling the taunting penalty turns up countless articles about the controversy over the rule over the last 15 years, going back to the throat slash gesture in the late 90s. McNabb picking up the giants phone after a run last year led him to go out of bounds on their sideline, googling various teams and taunting turn up lots of stories about fines and instances where taunting was called on every team(one of the panthers rookies picked up a taunting call in the preseason, whoops).

I was hoping I could just find a stat tracking the totals somewhere, but that seems more difficult than expected.

Anyway, taunting has been a huge issue many many different times over the last decade, I was just stunned to see you say you'd only seen it called twice, like it was some new thing that only screws over your team.

Watching the play at full speed, I thought it was obvious PI or hold. The slo mo replay just didn't show it. A small hip hook, but nothing bad.

As an aside, I think both of these coaches suck. What is McCarthy thinking here. Less than 30 seconds, a horrific offensive line and you are calling pass plays? Good lord.

That last play kills me. I'm going against the Rogers/Jennings combo in fantasy. Nothing like a cheap ass play to potentially cost me the win. Ugh.

At the very least, give me a hail mary INT to cost him some points.

Allen has been a beast (nothing wrong with that last hit) and Favre looks fantastic. GB should feel fairly lucky to be down just 7.

What the hell are the Packers complaining about there? You wanted to set up the hail mary. With that offensive line, you have to figure he's going to get hit. The hit was clean. Deal with it.

Enjoyable first half. Packers have a solid game plan. I don't know how you can cover up an offensive line that is this bad though. I don't see how Rodgers gets through the year healthy with the group blocking for him.

Defensive TD's are the great equalizer. No time off the clock, no yards gained. . . but 7 points on the scoreboard. TO are just killer in this league.

Just harmless jawing. Anytime you hit the opposing team's QB right by their sideline, you're going to get some barbs thrown your way

This is my main complaint with Thompson. We never have any veteran backups at OL or DB. So, when the inevitable injury bug hits, we're starting a 5th round pick or undrafted greenhorn. We always end with 10-15 million under the cap, how about throwing 4-5 mil at a backup tackle (or even a guy that can push our mediocre starters)?

The problem is I think Thompson views every draft pick he makes as the next coming of Anthony Munoz and if GB doesn't make the playoffs, he should be on the hot-seat. This will be the third straight season with no backups having any experience at OL or DB.

Arles, are your originally from Wisconsin, or just a long distance Packer fan? I don't often hear Arizona guys refer to the Packers as "we".

No. No way the Broncos lose 10 of the next 12 games. 8 of the next 12? I could see that. 9 of the next 12? If disaster strikes. 10 of the next 12? No way.

Confused at that one. 2nd and 9 vs. 1st and 15. You think your defense is so bad they'll give up at least 6 yards on first down?

Vikings have run on first down 12 of 17 times. (was 12-16 as I was typing this, then boom) Peterson the ball carrier on all of those plays. Throw in a couple of third and shorts and he's been almost invisible on anything other than a sure running down.

I was going to say the Vikings were clearly setting up the deep ball to Harvin. It ended up being Barrion and worked perfectly. Impressive play calling.

Edit: Those stats did not include the hurry up drive at the end of the first half.

I think this bye week is coming at a good time for Green Bay. They look out of sync on both lines and a mess with penalties/blown assignments. Not sure if they can make anything of this season, but a lot of things need to be worked on for them to have a chance.
