I don't think I've ever seen a 1 yard punt that wasn't blocked or squibbed... but that's what Badger punter Ken Debauche just did.

In lower division news, Div. III Mount Union scored 52 points in the first quarter of their 75-7 win over Averett.

And that would be sack number 8 for GT and QB fumble number 3 for ND.
26-3 with just under 10 minutes to play.

I'm not sure where Sagarin had them last year, but my ratings had Appalachian State as the #52 team in the country in the all divisions ratings.
That was one spot behind Miami (FL) and one spot ahead of Iowa.

Because they switched from the Missouri/Illinois game only in Oklahoma and Georgia and then they put it on ESPN for the rest of the country.

This would be a huge win for Zook. Looks like some of his talent is paying off. I see Benn has 4 catches for 50 yards.

As a LSU fan I already knew this. In 2005 LSU beat them 24-0, but Appy showed to be a tough, scrappy, well coached team. Game was only 14-0 going into the 4th quarter. If I was a 1A team, I would do my homework and not schedule them, no upside and then the unthinkable could happen, and today it did. |

Illinois is going to surprise a lot of teams in the Big Ten.
Just got back from the Penn State game. The loudest cheer today was when they announced Michigan lost to App. State. FIU was clearly out matched. They had at least 7 to 9 fumbles in the game (all not lost). The only downer for Penn State was they could not establish a running game till the second half. Morelli had 239 yards at half and the Nittany Lions won 59-0. Last edited by Dr. Sak : 09-01-2007 at 06:22 PM. |

Edit: OK I quoted the wrong thing because I'm an idiot. But I don't believe ASU is more talented than MAC teams.
Better coached? Yes. Much. More talented? Eh. Most MAC teams, probably ALL MAC teams have better recruiting years than ASU does. But perhaps (much?) better talent development at a school like ASU over a MAC/WAC/CUSA school does equal a more talented team. This is a credit to well put together and well coached programs more than its a credit to teams in 1AA having all-around talent. Last edited by Tigercat : 09-01-2007 at 07:03 PM. |

Tennessee's offense was great on that drive. The playcalling was superb.

Texas has looked shaky against their ASU opponent, they are only ahead 14-3 at halftime. Arkansas State has moved the ball well, but are killing themselves with penalties. They did a good job of ball control, and kept Texas' offense off of the field. Coming into the game Arkansas State was known for their running attack, but they've been going to the air quite a bit against the new secondary of Texas.

Texas' units that we knew would be weak (e.g., OL) are definitely weak. Texas' units that we thought would be strong aren't (DL). Texas' units that we weren't sure about that we had hope for are in fact weak (LBs, DBs).
Arkansas state outgained Texas by 35 yards in the first half. DE Brian Orakpo went out with a knee injury on an uncalled chop block.

You could really tell how Musberger was bothered by the tree-sitters. "The university planted those trees!" "It's a World War I memorial, and those trees were planted before World War I"
He also referred to them as "Aging hippies". Pretty funny.
