If I'm Norv Turner (assuming he has a challenge), I'm challenging that he broke the plane...immediately.

Even if he loses, all he does is lose his last time out, but he saves the twenty seconds he killed there.

I completely disagree with the Jets gameplan there. You have been bringing the house all year with success. The last three plays on that drive, the Jets dropped 7 and 8 into coverage and got ate alive.

Not dead yet, but good god they should be with the idiot plays and penalties they've pulled today.

Onside kicks are so pointless unless you truly have NO choice. Your odds of gaining possession are something like 8%, and then you still have to score, so your chances of winning the game, are what, 3%?

The odds of holding the Jets to a 3-and-out and scoring are much better, I would think.

I was thinking this was the smarter move myself. You know they're gonna run the ball, you've stopped them plenty of times today, trust your defense to get you the ball. On top of that you'll get it in MUCH better field position.

Not sure why you don't take your last timeout before the 2min warning. I don't have my NFL coaching for dummies book in front of me, but I am pretty sure that taking the timeout before the warning is always better.

If you get the guy tackled before the 2 minute warning then they should have kicked it deep. If they don't get him tackled before then, the game is over.

Saints never had a season ticket sellout before Katrina, never even close, since every season has been sold out with season tickets, with a ~50k people waiting line. This in a city in dire economic straits, that shouldn't even be able to support a NFL team right now. Did you see Jay Glazer's report before the game yesterday? After every away game, win or lose, when the Saints get in at night (often late-ish) thousands and thousands of Saints fans line the streets of the suburban NO airport streets just to wave at the passing cars of Saints players and coaches. Just a couple of examples there. In general I am sick of the feel good Saints reports, but that Katrina has made this extraordinary example of team support/connection in a city shouldn't be in dispute.

I am not going to say any fanbase deserves a winning team, but when a city's fan base has that kind of resume of support and connection, I think its fair to say that it would mean more to the city than elsewhere.

(*And as an aside, if Detroit started winning perhaps they would develop the same connection because of rough times there? I can't say.)

You go for it without question. You kick fg and you open yourself up to giving them a chance to win with 1:00 left. Get the half yard and it's over.

Totally rooting for the Jets next week since it's Indy's fault that they are even in the post season.

Not sure if it's Marty, Norv, both, the players, or all but the Chargers are nothing but a bunch of chokes. Period. To have the team they have and to be going home early yet again...just unacceptable.

Sorry, but I still think it is crap. The city has been through a lot, I get it.

But Browns fans wouldn't want it more after losing their franchise and having to build from the start? What about Raiders fans who had to watch their head coach get run out of town, only to be embarrassed by him in the Superbowl, then have their franchise run into the ground? How about Texans fans who have never made the playoffs? Seattle fans, who show tremendous support for their team in a community that typically couldn't care less about sports? What about Buffalo fans, who may lose their team to Canada and had to endure 4 straight superbowl losses?

sorry, but no fan group "wants" it more than any other.

Saints games also get higher local ratings than any other NFL team. Their ratings destroy just about every other hometown market.

To draw a parallel, I think an Alabama national title (where football is king) means more for the entirety of the state of Alabama than a national title would mean in New York if Syracuse ever won.

Now if we are talking one on one fans in different places, one awesome fan with another awesome fan that put the exact same investments in their teams, then of course it is equal. But if you have more supporting fans in an area, you have less super casual fans, and therefore more want in the community. More want to win football titles in Alabama than New Mexico.

I went outside during the game yesterday, about 4 p.m., and it was like it was 4 a.m. The quiet was incredible. There is NOBODY outside or on the road in New Orleans during a Saints game -- or at least a Saints playoff game. A pretty large number of peoples' whole identities and self-worth are tied up in this team down here. I'm not even saying it's a great thing, it's really not all that healthy, but it is what it is.

I would go so far as to say a Super Bowl title could fundamentally change the city.

They Colts should win. I know the Jets are capable of pulling the upset, but the Chargers just shot themselves in the foot constantly today. The Colts are too disciplined for that. Colts should win, but it'll be tight.
