Event 7 - Discus - 1st Attempt
Babson - looking to rebound from 2 poor performances, Babson spins on his first attempt and launches one...it lands 166 feet - With all the 170+ results out there, this is good, but probably about middle of the road for potential distances... Ginsberg - after having closed the overall score to within striking distance, Ginsberg needs to try to stay as close to Babson as possible in this event, and it won't be easy for him, as Babson is on the best out here in this event, and Ginsberg...well to put it kindly - he isn't one of the best (closer to one of the worst)...his first attempt is pretty good for him though as he records a 148 - I count 6 results better in the average column and 2 in the allout... Nielsen - another competitor that has closed the gap on the leader. The big dane goes through his technique, launches the disk and registers a 148 - this is a pretty poor result for the column...I count 16 rolls that are better... McCloud - Spins hard...but clips the toe board - Foul Llyw - who has had a very good competition up to this point...give his first attempt a go and he launches a good one as well...154 - this is on the upper end of his results in the column, but there are 6 results better including some in high probability roll areas... Rambis - the American, twists and lauches the disc...this is a pretty good first throw for him...the official measurement places it at 159 feet - There are 15 results better in the column...but a nice score to build from... Justice - gets himself set, a couple of deep breaths and he makes his toss...it's 153 - I only count 5 better results in the average column the best being a 157 (2 of them actually). Of the 5 results all are on are decent probability rolls - 30, 31, 33, 27, 25... Bafou - once again with his strange form Bafou gives a field event a go...he manages a throw of 140 - this is below average for the column... McGillicuddy - his first throw isn't great but he's on the board with a decent score and he has 2 more attempts...142 - about 9 better results, but serveral are in the lower probability teen rolls...6 better results in allout... Ashkayev - Having gotten out the cellar, Ashkayev is looking to stay out of there...and his first throw is a nice start...150 feet - 9 better results in average...but none significantly better... Gunderson - The big guy starts his rocking motion prior to his throw...he spins and really lets it fly....this one is pretty good...163 - 1 count 6 results better with nice run of 3 on rolls of 22 - 24... Gonzalez - He sets, spins and over rotates badly...the throw is sailing but it is off line and the disc lands out of the field of play - Foul... Last edited by Breeze : 03-08-2012 at 06:14 AM. |

Yes, stamina still is a factor, on basically the same philosophy as the first day, though fatigue could carry over, however in this case no one was impacted by carry over fatigue. Also if athletes were able to get through the first day without coming close to fatigue ratings, some carry over can occur there as well. Basically, this will work just like High Jump with Pole Vault being the biggest impact. Again 7 attempts is the default number for Pole Vault (again adjusted based on endurance) and it is assumed that you will take your 3 in the other events...(discus comes first, then pole vault followed by Javelin)... Is that clear enough? |

Let me change Llyw back to average. Looking at my write-up, I'm not sure all-out gives me a better chance for improvement.

Hey Fox, Sorry, I scribbled down your result for the first round...(Foul) because with the exception of a conservative throw it was going to be a foul...I guess when I was reading over my notes prior to posting I didn't realize that the result next to your name was an assumption on my part that you would choose either average or allout. |

Event 7 - Discus - 2nd Attempt
Babson - with the early lead in the event, Babson is feeling a bit better, he decides to give the 2nd throw a try, because he's done better in the past than a 166...he launches the disc...and looks like a slight improvement....and it is...167 feet - still middle of the road for potential distances... Ginsberg - Ginsberg overworks the second throw and gets a bit off balance, costing him distance 140 - no improvement so suggestions from previous throw stand. Nielsen - with a score on the board taking a bit of the pressure off, Nielsen gives his second throw a heave...and this one is clearly better...153 - still 10 results that are better in the average column... McCloud - Disappointed in his first round Foul, McCloud steps up with a real determination this time around...he uncorks and really lets one fly...this is a good throw...161 There are still 6 results better in the average column and 4 in allout Llyw - not a particularly good effort for his second throw - toss measures a full 10 feet short of his 1st try... 144 - still 6 results better... Rambis - Ok, now Rambis is up, we are watching a replay of his first throw...and...wait what? Hang on, the producer is saying something...this isn't a replay? That was his throw? You sure, it looked just like his first attempt...alright I see Justice stepping into the ring so I'll take you word for it....and his official distance is... 159 feet - There are 15 results better in the column...but a nice score to build exact same roll for round 2 as round 1 Justice - I guess he didn't know what to do with himself making an attempt at a field event already having a score, because he wasn't terribly focused here and he ended up over rotating and stepping out of the circle...Foul - same suggestions from round 1 Bafou - Bafou with his interesting approach is up...and, man I swear I've seen this throw already...this deja vu is killing me...I know, I know...it was the real throw, not a replay...got it...distance equals 140. You guessed it, identical roll to round 1 McGillicuddy - not a good a rotation leads to a shorter throw 134 - got quite a few better results still out there Ashkayev - Ashkayev clearly focused on staying out of the cellar gives his 2nd throw a good effort...it is going to be close to his last one...and it measures in at 151 feet - 8 better results now in the average column...but none significantly better... Gunderson - Really goes after his second throw and launches is pretty far, but his toe hit the board and he Fouls - in the same situation after 1st throw Gonzalez - last competitor to go...and the only one with out a score thus far...he goes through the gyrations...makes his throw and records a distance of 153 I only see 2 results higher in the average column but they are on relatively high probability rolls of 31 and 37, I count 3 better in allout..... fatigue will factor in the second day, just like in the first day, but with the Pole Vault (the biggest swing event for fatigue - like high jump was in the first day) being the next event, it is unlikely you will hit fatigue before the pole vault ends, rather it will impact you more on the javelin and then it can significantly impact your 1500. So yes, saving throws can be beneficial in the long run - espcially if you character had low endurance numbers when you created them. Last edited by Breeze : 03-12-2012 at 06:47 AM. |

EVent 7 - Discus - 3rd Attempt
Babson - Babson with a good score in the event, still has more in him and is hoping for a better result on this final throw...but this one looks a lot like the first two throws...and actually it lands at 166 - just a note...an all out attempt here would have maxed out the event with a distance of 182...and really opened up a big lead in the overall standings again... Ginsberg - Terrible thrid and final attempt...form was off and the distance shows it...126 Nielsen - like Ginsberg, Nielsen has a poor 3rd attempt result...140 McCloud - Knowing his body and remembering how close he was to fatiguing in the opening day of the competition, McCloud elects to conserve his energy and he passes on his final attempt... Llyw - A good throw here...but I'm not sure if it is going to exceed his effort on his first toss...it doesn't in fact it is the same distance...154 Rambis - Rambis, coming off of 2 good throws is feeling good about his chances...he give it a go and it is another good attempt, in the same general area as his other two throws. Any improvement will be marginal...it measures at 157 feet - an allout attempt here would have resulted in an injury Justice - decent 3rd attempt, but not an improvement 149 Bafou - despite his awkward approaches to the field events, Bafou has been a bit disappointed with his results, especially in this one...but he's giving it his last go. He winds up and let's it fly...this one is pretty good...definately an improvement over his first two throws. In fact, it is a signficant improvement. Waiting on the official measurement...154 McGillicuddy - hits his toe on the board and Fouls Ashkayev - Ashkayev, currently trails the other competitors around him on the leaderboard in this event, despite his respectable throw of 151 feet...it looks like he might be back in the cellar unless he can improve on that distance with his last attempt...he spins, launches and it's a good throw, but he is teetering on the verge of touching the toe board, he's trying to hold his balance, really straining to stop the spinning...and he can't do it, he clips the board and goes down...hard actually. In fact, he gets up rubbing his knee, not sure if it is from falling on it or trying to stop the torque of his body, but he seems to be in a bit of pain...Foul - and we have our first injury of the competition...in this case it won't affect the medal platform, but Ashkayev will have a very difficult time staying out of the cellar now... Gunderson - Gives his 3rd attempt a good toss, but not an improvement 159 Gonzalez - Gonzalez hoping for an improvement throws his 3rd time, and he doesn't even watch it, walking away shaking his head. He seems to be talking to one of the other compeitors and from his body language and behaviors, it looks like he knew something was wrong early in the throw. Looking at the replay, it appears the disc slipped out of his fingers a bit, causing a poor launch...134... Last edited by Breeze : 03-13-2012 at 06:20 AM. Reason: UPDATED McCLOUD's RESULTS |
