Yeah, that catch was insane. I can't believe he held on to the ball. I didn't think that the hit was anything bad though, just a hard hit over the middle.

Yep, nothing illegal about that hit. Yet, Mays hits a guy still inbounds and fighting for yards and gets called for a late hit. McKnight steps out of bounds and has a guy dive at his legs at least 2 seconds later and no flag is called. Horrible officiating all day long.

8 in a row for USC!

Claussen's last pass would have tied it up if the wideout hadn't slipped

That sucked but it was closer than I thought it would be.

Wow Bama returns the INT the length of the field in the first 40 seconds of the game only 7-0 but feels like game over for SC.

That sequence -- the INT followed by a loooong TD run to get VT back within 14-10 -- really brings back some bad memories from GT's earlier years in the ACC.

How many times did GT play FSU or Miami as an underdog, play valiantly for a good while in the game only to see it slip away at the end, often turning on sequences like that.

How the Jackets respond here over the rest of this half will say a lot to me about where they're at today vs seasons past.

Of course I'll be rooting for GT the rest of the way as well, so they can preserve the three way tie.

Reading the ACC tiebreaker rules, it sounds like if GT wins and all three win out the rest of the year, Miami would need to be at least 5 spots ahead of Virginia Tech in the BCS rankings. (And likewise, GT would need to be 5 spots ahead of Miami).

Coulda been over, bad pitch fumble by GT gives VT new life down 21-10 with 8 minutes left.

edit: And they're already inside the 35 with 6:20 left

Tyler Hansen is 8/14 for 97 yds, 1 TD/1 INT, but it looks like the difference is TD drives of 1 yd and 4 yds courtesy of KU turnovers.

Nesbitt 39 yd TD run, should be 28-16 shortly with 3 mins left.

edit: Urp, now under review to see if he stepped out along the way.
editx2: Ruling stands, TD

As a Big 10 fan it hurts me to say the Big 10 is very poor this year...

However, next year seems like it could be a big up year for them as a lot of these teams are very young.

Meanwhile 'Bama misses a FG, still 10-0 & they're leaving SC right in the game with 6 minutes left in the half.

I think Nesbitt was out, but it's better for VA Tech anyways. If they rule him out, just more time for GA Tech to run off the clock.

Y'know, there's still 2:06 left & VT is already inside the 30.
And I do not like seeing Derrick Morgan down after tweaking his back.
This thing ain't over yet.

edit: Now inside the 10 with 1:59 & counting

And just like that it's 28-23 on a swing pass to Williams.

First GT win over a Top 5 team at home since 1962 when they beat Bear Bryant's #1 ranked Crimson Tide 7-6. Since then until tonight, 0-17-1 vs the top 5 at home.

Whew. Nothing like making it interesting.

I have to say, great job by the defense after being really thrown under the bus by a lot of people last week. GT could have been out of the game at halftime if they didn't step up.

I've gotta think that Clausen and Bradford are eliminated in the Heisman race, McCoy? probably leads, Tebow is up there, and maybe Case Keenum is a dark darkhorse. who else is up there? Anyone from Iowa? or Alabama?

There were a couple blatant letdowns on defense but great win for Georgia Tech tonight. I really didn't think the defense would be able to get a single stop after seeing some of their earlier games. Now to start rooting for Miami to get upset.

McCoy? Hell, I'd say today ought to pretty much take him out of the race even moreso than Clausen.

Wow... Kansas drives down the field and has a chance to win on a floating pass that hit the receiver in the hands, but he dropped it (and he was pretty well-defended, as well). Kansas drops from the realm of the unbeaten.

Not sure what is going to happen in this Mizzou-OSU game, but it has been a pretty rough day for the B12 w/ Kansas and Nebraska both losing (and likely dropping from the top 25) in upsets. I suspect Oklahoma drops out, as well.

I wonder if Texas and the winner of Mizzou/OSU will be the only ranked B12 teams tomorrow? Maybe Texas Tech at 5-2?

Iowa has been very inconsistent. The Badgers won the game in the trenches on both sides of the ball and Iowa won the game outside the trenches by taking advantage of our weak QB play... three interceptions, I think.

The two fumbles piss me off the most, just take the damn sack and live to see another down. Instead he tries to make a miracle play as he is being pulled to the ground. Happens every fucking week. The coaching staff came out this week and pretty much threw Pryor's high school coaches under the bus, blaming them for how he isn't capable of changing a play at the line of scrimmage yet.

All they need is a servicable QB, I can't believe Tressel is putting up with this turnover fest from his QB. And how many muffed punts is Ray Small going to cough up in his career before he loses his PR responsibilities?

Purdue played a good game, got to give them credit. They did a great job of neutralizing the OSU defensive line with their short passing game and moving the pocket.

I am not saying RichRod or JoePa or even Kelly/Belotti develop NFL QB's. I am just saying that the one thing that seemed to push OSU over the top was Tressel's ability to produce an NFL QB which he has not done.

I am just amazed Tressel is letting it get this far. I sense a big blow up coming in the future.

I really cannot believe they kept Gabbert in the whole game, is Costello really worse than a hobbling Gabbert? Two blown calls put the game away for Ok St.

Texas just might beat us really, really bad.

Mizzou lost the game due to the two dropped balls by our WR's. Kemp dropped an easy touchdown which lead to great OSU field position and a TD. 14 point swing. Another WR let a pass go through his hands that ended up a pick-6. That's the difference right there.

Those blown calls may not have caused us to lose, but they were absolutely atrocious. Mizzou fumble that was down and an OSU fumble that was called down deep in OSU territory. Those hurt too.

Mizzou had every opportunity to win that game but didn't take advantage. It's a shame because the KU and NU losses would have put them right back in the shuffle. Now they have to win at home next week to have any chance at a North title.
