This is really all the explanation we get? Come on, you have to have some deep-seeded issue as to why the evil trashpress is so evil...or a freakishly obsessive love for Tiger. |

Nope. Just a deep-seated disdain for the celebrity-driven press. Tearing someone down (fairly, or unfairly) sells. The politics of destruction. And they hate someone who won't play their game. It makes celebrity a game where you feed others to the ravenous maw of the trashpress, so they don't turn their eyes on YOU instead.

I agree. I find the whole thing distasteful. I don't feel particularly sorry for Tiger Woods. He made his bed here and, as a public figure, this kind of scrutiny goes with the territory. Always has, always will. That said, it's not like the trashpress won anything or uncovered some great mystery or evil that those impacted didn't already know. It's pretty clear that, based on Tiger's Nov. 24th voicemail message to this woman, his wife already knew that he'd been cheating on her. All the hounding by the tabloids did is make it so everyone else now knows.

You're a dope. Building someone up sells too, in this case however, Tiger brought himself down yet you want to try and make the reporters the bad guys for ya know, actually uncovering the truth. Tiger uses the media to earn millions and millions of dollars in endorsements but doesn't want the other side of the coin, doesn't work that way. If he were so virtuous then he should make sure all ads with his ads in it are pulled out of your favorite "trashpress". |

I'm not big on the whole papparazzi / let's go hunt down women who had affairs with him just so they could get their face in front of the media and get on reality TV scene. However, when you wreck your car, including damage to a neighbor's property, and this requires the police to come out, and you refuse to talk to them about what happened, and you present explanations for all of this that make no sense, well, you're kind of digging your own grave. So I'm with Chubby.

I'm amazed this has hit 7 pages. Am I the only one that really doesn't care what Tiger does and realizes that Tiger's fans probably don't either?
Tiger woods is still the best golfer in the world. Tiger woods will still be cheered like no one else at events. Tiger woods will still make outrageous amounts of money from endorsements. |

But you're still a) obviously in here reading and interested in the various discussions; and b) contributing to the number of posts that have pushed this to 7 pages.

Meh. People in every industry do things that are unsavory. We just hear about the ones in sports more than others. Doesn't make it right. Just saying, it's not endemic to some gene that's only embedded in athletes to be jerks. I mean, Wall Street dudes are probably thinking "what? Only one girl? That's it?" Where are the others who he's banged? His fan base is largely men who play a sport that has a minimum buy-in. Me thinks they're going to understand more than the average fan in any other sport. I wonder if Tiger would've paid her more than 25k to keep her mouth shut? I'm guessing she wanted the notoriety given her "reality tv fame." This will clearly make him tighten up the ranks if he's smart, though, because he's never had to face adversity like this and has skated for pretty much his whole career in the media.
He'll either have a crazy season next year or people will bring up the affair every time he has a bad week or month. In that way, he probably wishes he was Ray Lewis. Last edited by Young Drachma : 12-02-2009 at 02:26 PM. |

I would never suggest that athletes have any sort of exclusivity in the lechery / douchebaggery department. I just found myself reflecting on all the highly successful athletes whose legend seems to be tarnished by something illegal or reprehensible. Then I tried to think of how many top-flight athletes I [or FOFC] could name who were seemingly slam-dunk really good guys. I immediately arrived at John Stockton and then didn't have anybody else immediately jump to mind. I wasn't trying to make any other generalizations. |

Hell, even before this, people brought up his marriage every time he had a bad week or month. His career slipped a little and the talk was that married life took away his drive to compete or something. I'm sure at least 90% of married professional athletes have cheated. It's kind of interesting seeing him all rattled, but I'm not going to think any differently about him. Last edited by molson : 12-02-2009 at 02:42 PM. |

I love this schtick on message boards. It seems to be on an upswing here. I'll expect you to fully document and prove, beyond any possible doubts, all of your thoughts and ideas here in the future. As for me, I disagree that that burden is required on jerkoff message boards that have so meaning to anything, so I'll keep stating opinions. Last edited by molson : 12-02-2009 at 02:50 PM. |

Phillips isn't in the same league as Tiger. You need to rate Tiger on the same scale as Derek Jeter. Jeter's picks are much more impressive.

Does we really expect people to "man-up" or "own-up" if they don't get caught first? Unless your name is Aristotle or one of those other greek-bread guys, I'm willing to cut the guy some slack. Alright, I'm out. Back to the presstrash. |

Yeah, but Jeter isn't married. It probably takes a different kind of girl to be willing to be road beef.

What he said. This isn't the "Women Who Date Athletes" rankings, but "Women To Have An Affair With" rankings. That's two totally different class of women. Though, for the record, hockey players, on average, by FAR, date hotter women than any other type of athlete, especially when you add the fact that they are hockey players and, therefore, a lot less famous than NFL, NBA, or MLB stars.
