Ronaldo just took 4 rolls. Seriously, how is that not a card? If I was Rooney, I would have punched someone on my way out. fuck it, i already have a red, make it worth something.

Even the English commentators aren't complaining about the red - it was stamping on the crotch, and that's a red.

Actually, he does if he's waiting for the players to clear the area and to get control of the situation. Look at the ref on the replay, he's right there. There's no way he gave the red for the push. He was already looking straight at Rooney.

Dola.

Look, no one on the English team complained or reacted, neither did Rooney. Do you think that would be the case if it was just for a shove?

Like said, the ref doesn't wait 10 seconds for carding someone. He'd be reaching for the card right away.

And seeing how they were jostling for position when Rooney gets him in the crotch, it'd be the WORST. RED. EVER. I doubt that was the case.

Dude, Carvalho pulled Rooney down and he accidentally get Carvalho in the croch. If it was for that, I'd expect a freaking riot on the field!

He was looking at the ground, saw the push and carded him. All he's doing is signaling the foul. I've never seen a ref stand there and signal a foul as a way of "controlling" the situation.

Dude, he stood on his crotch when he was getting up. It wasn't on the way down in the course of the foul.

All I know is that with what's happened in this game, and the way Portugal plays, that didn't deserve a straight RED.

If Rooney deserves a red, Maniche's "MY FACE!" dive is right there with it.

Hehe. Love how the English just played on. They are a man down so if the Portuguese want to roll around on the ground, F-em. Just means it is 10 v 10

As they should. That was pitiful by Simao. He played until he lost possession. 60 seconds later he put a hard shot on goal.

Hargraves is looking really good - I see the English press has shut up with regards to their favorite whipping boy. But Sven's decision to take Jenas instead of Defoe is looking dumber than ever.

And what ref do you know looks down on the ground to call a foul, waits 10 seconds, without reaching for a card when he's giving a straight red?

I think Hargreaves has been England's Man of the Match so far.

I know this would be opening a can of worms, but is there ANYTHING FIFA can do about diving players? I've seen Maniche and Henry both go to the ground clutching their faces in this tourney after not being touched anywhere near it. Henry's dive even resulted in the play which allowed a France goal.

Rooney shouldn't be stomping on people, but diving is even worse because it affects the integrity of the game.

How about Walcott over Defoe?

Yes, I like seeing Hargreaves and Gerrard run step-for-step with Ronaldo.

Why do you sub out Lennon there? Is it a PK strategy?
