Starting off with the caveat that I hate Texas. Hate them with a passion.

But from these eyes, its good to see those fucks relevant again. Relevant may be a little premature, but its good to see them with hope. I'm sure I will regret this in a few weeks when all the obnoxious t-shirt sips come out in full force, but I actually enjoyed seeing those bastards win last night.

I really like little Boooooo. He's 100x more likable than that bitch Colt McCoy. And he's got a legit arm and leadership qualities

However, because Notre Dame was ranked far too high and because Texas is, well, Texas, they'll move the Longhorns up to a rank far above what they really should be ranked and Notre Dame will stay ranked far too high because they're Notre Dame.

Such is life in college football.

I feel like if it were Missorui with the win, you'd have a different tune.

Notre Dame is a Top 25 team. To think otherwise is silly. Texas is probably on the cusp of it, just on talent alone. After this game, no reason why neither should be ranked in the top 25 and other than the most ardent hater (see quoted post) would disagree. Will they both stay in during the season? It's hard to say though.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with it either honestly.

He's only 45, he never coached in HS as far as I can tell. I don't know that he'd ever coached against it before.

Good on him for taking a common sense approach & making it work.

Gosh, how will they handle Jacksonville State without him?

I get how the schedule breaks can't be predetermined but, well, this isn't that far from suspending a starting pitcher for three games ... starting right after his most recent start.

I thought coming to the season both were top20 teams. Nothing I saw last night changes that.

It's week 1. I didn't see a single team that wasn't very flawed this weekend.

Re: Texas/Notre Dame. I'm not a fan of either school, but both look like top 25 teams to me. Texas will face some competition (including a tricky game at Cal). Notre Dame's schedule is weaker than it usually is, but they still have some tough games. If they aren't really that good, it'll even themselves out.

-----------------------------------------------------

Ole Miss defensive back. That poor, poor kid. That was gut wrenching.

-------------------------------------------------------

Kelly, just can't get away from critical mistakes. There was NO reason for that idiotic throw. All the momentum. No need for that at all.

Even with the new QB I would have expected a better offensive performance. They look lost on defense and are making too many mistakes on offense. Going to need a big play to get back in this.

I can't believe how many mistakes I'm seeing by FSU. Forget the bad QB play. He's young, that could happen. Watching wide open receivers up and down the field? I'm floored. This is really, really bad.

What in the world just happened... Is this the same FSU team that started this game? Are we sure they didn't recruit some 5 star players at the half?

Well that went downhill quickly

Without a running back, and without an OL that can sustain tempo play for four quarters, without a clue how to respond to adjustments, and with a depleted secondary that might have already been undermanned ... yeah, not looking for a big year on my son's campus at this point.

The stack 2 deep of 5 star players they already have just started clicking. Once that offense got their confidence they looked unstoppable. Two top 10 teams just got done playing. Mississippi has a nice squad.

And I'm sitting here after watching that wondering if they can manage to finish 8-4.

I don't see them having anything for Bama certainly (not for more than a quarter), I don't think they've got enough for UGA at this point. That's a potential (and I'd now argue likely) 1-3 start.

Not a lot of margin for error after that.

Ken Webster injury hurt them a lot and will be hard to replace. This was basically a home game for FSU and Ole Miss dominated almost half of it. The run defense is going to be solid and with Kelly at QB and what looks like a stacked group of young wide receivers I wouldnt be overly concerned.

Florida State also came into this game with basically their entire offense intact minus the QB. Sort of expected FSU to look good on offense as long as the QB did his job(he far exceeded expectations IMO).

Glad to see Mizzou right around the bottom of the poll in both polls. Right about where they should be.

But let's be honest. Your issue isn't with the preseason polls. You have an inferiority complex with Texas and Notre Dame.

But he's right. Notre Dame is usually overrated in the polls, and Texas will likely see a larger than normal bump up as a result of beating them.

Regardless of Notre Dame being overrated or not, beating them week 1 is going to be a much more impressive win than most week 1. Besides, by the end of the season this stuff tends to work itself all out. Voters are kept in check these days by the computers and social media calling them out if they stray too far to the left.

Yes unfortunately the original post had a bad messenger but there is no doubt Notre Dame is always overrated as will be Texas. Even with a fantastic ad hominem response.
