It's a long game, but good to see the Bruins come out not intimidated and looking to capitalize on opportunities and (maybe) rattle Vokoun.

Gonna be some bruises after this game - it's gettin physical.

Pens seem to be bringing it, which I actually like to see - that's much more Boston's style than Pitts style.

Epic meltdown by the Pens. Is Boston really this good, or were the Pens this overrated? Both?

Bettman must be crying himself to sleep right now.

No self respecting Penguins fan...scratch that, Pittsburgh fan...listens to a word that tub of garbage says.

His wording, from what I read, was calling Rask "a clown".

Tomorrow, he'll blame Malkin for all 6 GA, and tell anyone questioning Crosby "they don't understand hockey".

This game is going to drive me nuts, heading to a second OT, if I was the Bruins, I would have been saying to the refs "Hey, we don't need a break, let's keep playing".. because the Penguins look like the meter is below E.

Edit: And Tukka is the only reason this game is still going on the Boston side. What a game.

Hell of a hockey game.

Glad to see them apply the final blow there...don't want to let Pitt back into the series, they're too talented.

And I gotta say - for a 41 year old guy who isn't a "bruiser," Jagr is incredibly strong on the stick. He constantly keeps/wins possession when you think there's no way he can.

I got home from work with about 16 minutes left in the first OT, didn't think I'd be watching that much hockey. Was incredible to see all the shot blocking sacrifices going on, and the commitment to forechecking and finishing hits even this fatigued.

3-0 in games. Wow.

Pittsburgh didn't deserve the loss based on them out playing the Bruins in regulation, but the Bruins just had more in the tank.

He's always had incredible body/stick control and a long reach. Uses the boards and shields the puck very well. He's not going to catch up to you from behind .. pretty much ever, but thats not what he's in to do. Though he sure robbed the puck back from Malkin right there, he just didn't have to move very far to do it.

Yeah - guess I just never appreciated it since I didn't see him on a nightly basis.

Far as I'm concerned even though he's not scoring at the moment he's more than welcome back next year if he wants to come back.

Fantastic game! It's a little too bad that it ended on a pretty blatant hook from Jagr that led directly to the OT goal. At first I was really impressed at how Jagr had stripped a strong guy like Malkin of the puck so cleanly, but then on the replay it became pretty clear it wasn't 'clean' at all. Sweet play by Marchand/Bergeron to finish it off, though, and overall the game was so fun to watch that I can't complain too much (even though I just did )

I had just texted someone about 2 minutes before the goal

"Everyone is skating at Jagr's pace now!"

From a Pittsburgh perspective...UGH

And to take nothing away from Boston, excellent team, and a goalie going in God mode.

But, where is the "best player in the world"? After Rask, Malkin was the best player on the ice for 95 minutes last night. And he's got a bum shoulder.

Not sure what's up with Crosby, but he's been invisible. Yes, Bergeron and Chara are a part of that, but those guys aren't taking shifts exclusively against the Crosby line, and others are generating chances.

DOLA

When Milbury is saying it, it's got to be pretty blatant.

Semi related, if Matt Cooke had pulled the stick the leg out move Marchand did on Kunitz behind the net, he'd be crucified.

Rats are part of the game. But Boston fans (not necessarily anyone here, just in general) who are blind to Marchand while they abhor Cooke are silly.

I agree 100%, when that happened I thought how can they not give marchand a major for that.

one of my big complaints in the NHL has always been they only seem to consider injuries, not the plays that cause them. just becasue there was no injury doesnt mean it wasnt a real dirty play.

Malkin was a fucking beast last night. Scared the shit outa me.

That being said - Boston definitely carried the balance of play during most of the OT -- particularly during the second (if i recall). Seemed like the ice was tilted towards Vokoun. And there were a couple dubious penalties called on the Bruins that give Pitt plenty of chances, so to see one not called resulting eventually in the GWG doesn't really bother me from a "fairness" perspective I guess. And it wouldn't bother me if I was on the other end either. Both teams had chances, there were calls made/missed against both teams, just like in any other game. Hooking and slashing happen like...all the time and aren't called 100% of the time.

And yes, Marchy is a little rat who plays on/over the edge. No argument from me here.

Wonder if he is injured or something. I am no Crosby fan but he tends to play well in the postseason and this is rather uncharacteristic of him.

The joy of seeing the Penguins swept is quickly sucked out by the knowledge that the fu*cking Bruins will be in the finals...

I seriously hope the Kings come back or this will be a finals in which I will be hoping the owners decide to lock the teams out before they start.

Boston/Chicago would be kind of cool. I couldn't remember exactly, so I took a quick glance at Wikipedia, and it looks like two Original Six teams haven't met in the finals since 1979.

In what way? I'm not a Crosby fan, but it isn't like we're talking about Sean Avery here. There have been a lot of douchebags come and go in the NHL, but it is hard for me to see what makes Crosby deserving of the angst.
