Anyone else not surprised the game ended like that? I knew they were going to end up with a play over the middle in the field of play, just figured it wasn't going to be quite as close as it was.

Can we get rid of Reid now?

Out of 64 plays they ran 16 times.... 16 freaking times!!!!

Win over Cleveland: 33 rush, 38 pass
Win over Giants: 42 rush, 30 pass
Win over Arizona: 40 rush, 39 pass

It doesn't take a genius to see a pattern. They averaged 3.9 per rush today so it's not like it was 16 carries for 10 yards and at least had an excuse to not want to run. They were only briefly down more than 1 score and that was early in the 3rd so there isn't even the excuse that they had to pass because they were so far behind.

I don't know the record, but I'd be willing to bet Tony Banks was the QB of one of the teams involved.

Let me add my congratulations to the Falcons as well.

I'm so pumped that we pulled out the win over the Chiefs and have a chance to go from a 1 win season to AFC East champions the next!!!!!

Even sweeter, my opponent in the fantasy football championship had their worst day of the season, with 33 points on the week.

Which means I'm sitting fairly well right now. 70 points and I've got DeAngelo and Boss going tonight.

WTF? That "reporter" is an idiot. What kind of question is that? "Do you think your daughter should have married a better guy?"

In case you didn't hear it. A reporter badgering (badger badger badger) the Lions coach about his son-in-law and asks that question after the coach wouldn't take his earlier bait.

It's Rob Parker, and he's an idiot.

I still laughed though because it's so absurd to ask, and I am shocked he asked it.

I think it was "a better defensive coordinator".

Seems like a fair line of questioning given the pathetic state of affairs (the frustration of the last joke question notwithstanding) questioning why anyone in their locker room is still employed is pretty reasonable.

Seems to me, if you hire a family member to a high profile position on your staff, and he does a shitty job, you open yourself up to questions like that.

Not the classiest thing I've ever heard, but nice to see somebody asking the tough questions up there. Clearly Ford isn't going to... he seems perfectly happy with the worst franchise in football.

It's a classless post to bring someone's daughter into the conversation.

But it's Rob Parker, another ESPN clown. He'll probably get his own show over there now.

Ask him anything about the job, ask him anything aout maybe not hiring a family member but that question hs NOTHING to do with getting to the bottom of anything football related and it's only purpose was to get the reporter in the news and being talked about. It was a self serving questin and I guess I took the bait since I posted about it.

Oh well, back to loading up BiA.

Horrible play by Ross on that pass. You HAVE to at least break that pass up, not let it go through your hands like that.

Do I have this correct: If New England wins, and either Baltimore or Miami lose, the Pats make the playoffs?

Deangelo Williams now has 11 TDs in his last 4 games. Carolina needed that score so badly, whew.

Correct

If NE wins and Miami loses, NE wins the East and gets the 3 seed.

If NE and Miami both win, Miami wins East. Balimore losing would put them at 10-6, NE at 11-5, NE in the 6 seed.

Decent drive by the giants but that was some truly terrible defending by Carolina. It feels like the Giants will win if they get the ball back. A clock killing drive and last second Kasay FG seems to be in order.

Just the kind of game you'd expect to determine the #1 seed. As an impartial observer, I am really enjoying it.

No good! Going to OT. If the Giants get the ball 1st, they'll win it and the Panthers won't even get the ball back.

Regardless of what happens in OT, I'm just happy the Giants played a good game instead of the eggs they laid (especially on offense) the last 2 weeks.

I am happy to see Carolina play better on the road vs a quality opponent, but Carolina has much more riding on this game since they still haven't wrapped up the division. They *really* need to find a way to get a defensive stop here and win this game.

As a Bears fan, I'd love to see a tie here and the Giants have to play for something next week against the Vikes.

I am going to go on a hunch and say I shoulda kept DeAngelo in instead of starting Westbrook today at RB.

And now we go straight into the nightmare scenario.

Atlanta hosts St Louis next week, Carolina plays at the Saints. Carolina is now 3-4 on the road and has not beaten a team with a winning record on the road. No NFC South team has lost at home vs a division opponent yet this year. Atlanta has the tiebreaker over Carolina. Ugh.

Grats to the Giants. I'm not surprised the Giants won in the end but after the first half am very disappointed that Carolina squandered the lead and couldn't take advantage of their chances to win.

To be fair, winning teams (above .500) this season, if my math is right, are 104-41 at home, so it's not like it's easy to go to such a place and win. I think there are a lot of very good teams that actually haven't beaten a winning team on the road.

True, and this week eases my fears about Carolina on the road a little. Their last couple road losses were defeats at Tampa and Atlanta where they were completely dominated. Just showing they can put up a good fight on the road against a quality team is an improvement.

What they really need of course is a win at New Orleans next week. I don't hate Atlanta as much as i used to but Atlanta winning the NFC South would just be completely unacceptable!

Heh...I hear you, recognizing the fan speech. But as someone who has no dog in the race, I find it sorta funny to see this possibilty, what with the NFC South's notorious habit of worst to first division finishes.

I am so pumped about the Falcons, but more than just making the playoffs or their record is the fact that it seems that they have assembled a top notch organization from the ground up.

If Atlanta does win the division it continues the NFC South streak of worst to worst going. Based on that, I like NO next week.

+1

In my league, the 6th seed (last in) will end up winning. I lost to him week 14, when Williams had his prior 4 TD game. I lead him by 35 heading into MNF and he beat me. And on the back of Williams he'll win the league.

I am now a huge Week 17 Philly fan! I'd much rather Arizona get Tampa or Atlanta than Dallas in the first round of the playoffs. I doubt Tampa's going to lay an egg against Oakland, so that leaves the Eagles out too.
