Yahoo Sports says Brady done for the year.

Edit: larrymcg421 beats me to it.

So much talent on offense, such a weak schedule, I think they still make it to the playoffs unless Cassel is a total disaster. 9-10 wins if Cassel "plays well".

woohoo Cardinals win! And it was nice to see Carolina return to their winning ways with Delhomme back. He just lives for those late 4th quarter drives.

1 - They raised the price. Meaning there would be more outrage from subscribers if they gave a week away and then pro rated the purchase after the first week as they have done in the past. Which BTW is why they ANNOUNCED there would be no free preview in the media release where they announced the price increase

2 - Sunday Ticket is exactly the ONLY thing Directv has going for it. Seriously, if not for exclusivity of Sunday Ticket why would anyone have Directv over Dish (and again, I am a dealer for both)

3 - Single games at $45 is the single most praised thing Ive heard from my customers. Look at it like this, 3 groups have interest in Sunday Ticket.
1) The RABID FOOTBALL FAN

3) The national favorite fan (Boys, Skins, Steelers) who misses a few a year because of his local affiliate.

1 will buy ST either way
2 will still buy ST because he wants all 16
3 Was unlikely to buy ST but was tempted, now he can buy the 3 or 4 (up to 6) games a year and not have to worry with the others he may not be interested in, still see "their" team and not shell out $300.....

Too bad Culpepper retired, looks like at least three QB's got hurt today-Brady, Young, and Croyle.

Maybe the preseason is valuable after all (as Brady didn't play a snap between the super bowl and today).

True. I won't go on with it after this....

I have had DirecTV for 10 years and Sunday Ticket almost as long. It changes my stance in no way.

i never saw any announcement, which has happened to me in the past with them because i have their bill payment set up as an automated withdrawl...they are notorious for including their annoucements with the billing statements, which people with autopay do not get.

i agree with your first 3 choices, but you are missing number 4....people that have purchast ST in the past, and still would if it were not for the rampant price gouging over the past 3 seasons (200 bucks to 289 in 2 years, plus another 100 for the superfan (HD) add on)....there is no way i will pay 45 dollars for a single 49ers game...i would rather just go to a sports bar and eat wings and drink beer to the tune of the same 45 bucks than give it to them...you have to realize when i started with DTV, Sunday ticket was 125 dollars for the season.

Nothing stopping you from doing that. Obviously they think they can maximize profit at a higher price.

Is Peter King to Tom Brady as John Madden is to Brett Favre? On NBC right now he is talking about how sad it will be for him to miss the whole season, how the whole league will be sad. I am guessing there are fans of several AFC teams that would argue that.

then they are scumbags.

one of the best things about the Giants winning the superbowl last year was they went throught the best to do it.

Had Brady gone down with an injury in the final minute of the AFC title game and not played the superbowl it wouldn't have been the same.

Sad may be too strong of a word but I don't think rival fans will be as happy as you may think. I mean, I hate the Pats but I have great respect for Brady. I can't say I have any joy with him being hurt for the season especially with a knee injury.

Too bad about Brady getting injured. Their superbowl hopes are crushed. Patriots fans must be devastated right now. But Jets fans are flying high and that's too bad because it shouldn't be that way.

While I'm not glad Brady got hurt, I'm happy to see Cassel will finally get a chance to show what he can do (assuming the Pats don't try to turn to Culpepper or another retread which I doubt they will do.)

He impresses me how hard he works, and really takes charge of the team even though he is a rook. He made a couple of real rookie throws today, and will make some big mistakes this season, but he seems a guy who will not let that phase him. I'm pretty excited to watch him develop.

On the flip side, the Birds still need interior defensive line bad, bad, bad. It looks like this would be a solid offense, if there was a defense that could keep them in it. I just think they won't be able to stop anyone.

It was still the wrong pick unless Ryan turns out the be the second coming of Peyton Manning. There's no reason to use a pick that high in the draft on a QB who's not a sure thing and Ryan sure as heck isn't. This is doubly true when your most pressing need is at DT and there's a fantastic one in Dorsey sitting there waiting to be taken.

Hopefully this won;t turn out as badly as when Billy Knight passed on Chris Paul because he was too short, but it was still the wrong decision.

As far as Falcons-Lions, I couldn't tell if they just can't shed blocks or if our run blocking is that good. I could have run for 100 today.

Really? I don't get anyone who wishes for season-ending injuries - its like a big sign saying "I'm a douchebag". Good show.

PS - Not a Pats fan. Hate the team.

I don't even really have a problem with say, a Jets fans being fired up that they have a shot a division title now. But "Fuck him and the Pats. Its Karma for last year. I am glad that smug SOB got hurt" is just Captain Douchebaggery, which is odd, because I don't remember NC being a prick.

Wasn't there a poll here about if it was ever appropriate to cheer your rival getting hurt or was that only on Mike and Mike?

He is a dick. When Moss played for the Vikings I absolutely hated him, but I would never wish a season ending injury on him. I don't think too highly of Bellichick or Moss, but Brady was ok. He got a tough break and that's unfortunate.

Odd thing WRT Brady. I can conditionally drop every player on my fantasy team but him. (ESPN).

That means I'm going to have carry 3 QBs on my roster all year?

There might be a list of players you can't drop and I bet Brady is one of them. They'll probably lift it sometime now that he's done for the year. I don't use ESPN though so I'm not sure.

I missed it if were here.

Publicly cheering a serious injury at a game is beyond disgusting (Michael Irvin/Philly), but if I guy is going to miss some time, it really doesn't change the severity of the injury or make anything worse for anyone for someone to be happy about the implications for their own favorite team.

Of course, as Lathum said, if you're going to beat someone on the biggest stage, you want them to be at their best. It wouldn't be the same for Giants fans if Brady had been injured in the AFC Championship game and missed the Super Bowl. But they beat the Pats at full strength.

The real moral test is - would you actually CAUSE an injury to a player if you had that power? For monsters like Noble_Platypus, the answer is yes - if he could push a button and injure Brady, he'd do it. Because he's a disgusting human being. But for normal people, you don't push that button. But there's no evil in seeing the good side of things after the injury already happens.

Yeah, I just found it bizzare that I could conditionally drop everyone with the exception of Brady. I'd never heard of anything like that before.

Oh well, I'm probably not going to get Cassell anyway. Too low on the waiver wire is my guess.

Odd. What has Brady done, besides win? I don't remember any controversey around him, or anything he has done. He minds his business off the field, he is well spoken and he is the last person I think you'd ever see draw the Commissioners ire. And no it isn't because he's a Golden Boy, it's because by all accounts he is a great guy.

You sound like my ex girlfriend, man. I feel like it was your mouth I put a load in an hour before breaking up with you. If it is you, Fran, sorry.

I watched the NFL Films "Almost Perfect" yesterday, and Brady really comes off as a humble guy, acknowledging that the Giants kicked his ass six ways from Sunday.

Wow, I knew they were out there, but I didn't realize they were at FOFC.

I've dogged Brady as being overrated for years and a system QB, but no matter what you think of a player as a player or as person (I despise O.J. Simpson for this one), being happy they're hurt or wishing they'd be hurt really speaks to one's character and way of thinking.

He's a bad ass.

This is doubly true when your most pressing need is at DT and there's a fantastic one in Dorsey sitting there waiting to be taken.

But who was going to be their QB? Finding a credible DT is easier than a QB. The QB has a vastly bigger impact on a team's success than a DT does. If you have a NFL ready QB sitting there in the 3 spot and you had the year the Falcons did, you take him no questions asked. Ryan is also going to be a hell of a lot easier sell as the face of the franchise than Dorsey, and since they needed one...

He just wants the Michigan chicks he couldn't have. The only guy who spread his seed around more is Johnny Appleseed.

Oh, and I'm sorry but the Sunday Ticket is not that expensive. IMHO, it's rather cheap. I gassed up two vehicles this weekend and it was $125.

Ok, I am not saying they should be like the ass in this thread. That, I agree, is taking it too far. But I would say a good majority of fans will say, "Ah that sucks for the Pats" and then go about their business, and some will think they have a better shot at or in the playoffs now. Be overjoyed from it? No. But Peter King made it seem like people were in mourning over it and the NFL would be severely hurt by it. To me that is how he made it sound. To me that is overdoing it.

$45 for a single game is just nuts, relative to the overall price tag. It is hard for me to believe that anyone would ever purchase single games, rather than just going to a bar or over to a friend's house who has the ticket.
