I don't think Tony Parker's the right comp for Conley. To me he's a dead ringer for Kevin Johnson.

I tell you, I hate the interviews at the NBA draft of the parents. I understand why they do it, but bleh.

So what? The green room is right out there with the fans? Geez. Talk about getting them ready early for dealing with the fans up close and personal. I know it's far enough away that you can see, but geez.

I will say that one thing this whole one-year waiting period to join the league thing has done, is that it's made these guys slightly more polished so far when they give their interviews. Of course, if all you had to do all year was prepare for that and keep your game tight, I guess there are harder challenges in life.

Another terrible pick for the Hawks unless they have a trade set up.

Mike Conley's dad already looks agent-like. And I don't mean that as a compliment.

Does the NBA wait until the end of the draft to announce picks now? Or will they still tell us the picks in the middle of the draft?

I love the NFL and all, but its much easier to follow a draft when picks are going this quickly rather than having time to mow my lawn between picks.

Thank you Jay Bilas for backing up my Parker comparison! Though I don't agree that it would have been a tough pick between Conley and Paul (or that anyone should have ever considered taking Williams over Paul).

And, as predicted, the Hawks managed to fuck up.

BK belongs at Burger King, not the NBA.

I think that 2pm draft deadline rule is pretty stupid. But I guess Stern doesn't want trades to overshadow his little swan song here.

But I do like that it's moving along quite fast.

Sounds like the Celtics made that pick so they can package him up along with D. West to trade for a vet.

I have no idea what you're trying to say...should "picks" = "trades" in both instances?

For those of you not watching on ESPN, the Celtics picked Green for Seattle.

I find that even stranger... didn't Seattle grab some SF guy already earlier in the draft?

Cool, so Seattle draft 2 SFs and trade for another? Nice!

I don't get it either--especially since I don't care for green at all. They're shipping out Ray Allen apparently.

Sending the China guy to the busting Asian community of Milwaukee, I love it.

So it's pronounced "EE?" A silent Y? Tirico's not pronouncing it, but Fran Fraschilla is despite apparently researching him extensively. I'm confused...but I think I hate him more now.

Bad pick for the Bucks, too. I don't think that's a good fit for Jianlian.

then again I don't follow the NBA anymore. I know Ray Allen used to be GREAT, but I get the feeling that he's sort of been dropping off the past couple years...correct me if i'm wrong

Can the Celtics get Jermaine O'Neal for let's say Gerald Green and Ratliff's expiring deal?

Just thinking out loud...crap PG/Allen/Pierce/O'Neal/Jefferson isn't a terrible starting 5.

Ray Allen is ok, he's about like Paul Pierce, maybe not quite as good. He's not what the C's need, imo.

His season was cut short this past year (55 games), but the past 2 seasons have arguably been his best.

He's getting old (31 now) but the last two years he's put up the best numbers of his career.

He had injury woes last year, but he's still Ray Allen. Not as good as the young Allen, but gives them a solid wing combo.

Had his highest PPG this past season I think. That's not saying much, and i could go get some more stats, but i remember seeing that earlier today.
