Ginn #9. WTF! A top 10 pick for a kick returner?

A punt returner number 9 overall. Worst draft pick I can remember.

All I can say is this shows how badly wrong the media has gotten the Brady Quinn lovefest.

A reach pick, IMO, for Miami.

If I read Quinn's lips right, all he had to say after the Ginn announcement was 'That's surprising.'

Gotta wonder how much more profane the mental tirade was.

I say Quinn gets taken by the Packers, that way he can join his 1st Round Sliding Buddy Rodgers on the Packer bench for a couple of years as Favre keeps coming back.

As a Packer fan, I would actually laugh if this happens.

Yep, could have traded down at least, and I mean at least 6-7 picks on that one; even if you weren't getting offered much. I'd be interested to see what the Texan get if they make a trade, because that's what the Dolphins could have gotten.

I wouldn't go that far. In fact I'd say Ginn most definitely is a better athlete than Howard. Ginn is probably the best overall athlete in the draft. When healthy he has Deion Sanders speed. A 13 point something high hurdles in high school is very, very rare physical talent. However he's not known to run the best pass routes. I like him as a 15-20 pick. Would really have loved to see Miami grab Willis or Okoye there instead.

Meh. I'm sure all of this is just giving him fuel to think he'll be able to get into a situation that's not as dire as say, Oakland or something. Sure it's a few less million, but...the chance to thrive without nearly the expectations seems to be a blessing in disguise for some of these guys. So it's a little awkward for folks to have to watch him, but...the difference is, we can laugh all we want about him freefalling, he'll still walk out of that room as a millionaire eventually.

So I dunno if it's the "worst" day of his life, by any stretch of the imagination.

Gawd. Dolphins deserve to finish 0-16 after that pick...Actually no...they'd just blow the #1 pick next year.

LOL, Miami is retarded...

I like the Atlanta pick though. We needed a DE.

I have mixed feelings. I'm thrilled we didn't take Quinn. Absolutely THRILLED. But we should have traded down, although we are incredibly weak at receiver right now, considering we dumped 2 of our top 3 pass catchers.

There is no way in a million years Ginn is an NFL wide reciever. He runs sloppy routes and he doesn't have great hands. He is also sub 6 feet and 178 pounds. NFL corners are going to eat him alive in press coverage.

Not really any good options here. Too high for Staley. Maybe they could trade back and get Staley, but if they do the much rumored Denver trade he might be gone, although they could go with Grubbs there (guards have this tendency to rise on draft day, recently). But at 10 there aren't any good options on the offensive side.

I've more than a couple draft "experts" saying Quinn is a 2nd round talent. True or not, I'm not shocked by this so far.

Solid pick by the Texans. Thought it was more likely they'd go DB, but Okoye is a good talent.

This leaves Willis for the 49ers, meaning they're probably pretty giddy.

Intresting tidbit from Miami's page on cbssports.com

Quote:
Rumor Mill
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Dolphins are still trying to dismantle their roster from last season. Wide receiver Marty Booker is now on the trading block. The willingness to part with Booker could mean the team has targeted a receiver with the No. 9 pick. The leading candidate would be Ohio State speedster Ted Ginn Jr., who recently visited Dolphins headquarters. (updated: 04/27/2007)
