Well, the scary thing is that with MM2 there *was* a better help page. Not great, but you knew a bit more. It's like part of the "stickiness" of the game is that you have to guess what to do and I'm not sure that's a great formula. Better a game stand on its own merits than have to force users to spend a couple of weeks just learning what to do. SI

It seems the winning strategy is to just tour for the first 3-6 months, then worry about other things. I'm too impatient to do this though. |

Yeah, if you throw them some general rest basically every other month (the ones that have 31 days), they'll stay in the 90s. At least that's what I did. Practicing is a lot more brutal on them. SI

That's the one thing I hate. How many bands go on 28 day tours with 0-1 songs? They just playing some old Beachboy songs?

I really hope playing Music Maven does indeed raise happiness. To try it out I'm going to rest 20 days emphasing playing Music Maven while only practicing 3 days.If that doesn't work, my guys are never going to be happy.

I just signed up with my new techno band, the Turd Burglars.
One complaint... I made it a coed band. Now, I'm a woman. Funny, but not something I want to live with, and I see no way to change it... |

Well, this was a problem I was complaining about back in one of the first ten posts of the thread. It was what eventually made me quit. Every month or so (month in real life), I'd audition an entirely new band because resting just didn't raise stats fast enough whereas if you practiced, those points got distributed relatively uniformly across all stats (they were random but they were coming from the same base). So while my musicians wouldn't be as good of pure musicians, I''m pretty sure I had the best band members across the board because quite a few bands would have 100's in the skills that practicing raises but keep practicing because they needed new material. Meanwhile, I would get up in the 60s or 70s or whatever and then knock them back down with those points redistributed into things like intelligence, etc. Frankly, this got silly so that by the third set of band members, it was just lnot much fun so I stopped playing. Yeah, it's not exactly the most realisitic way to do things (no band ever got more than cult followings just by touring), but it's probably the most successful. I decided to not waste my first few months practicing in the garage or some other hellhole and instead did what I could do best: tour and get popular which requires no musical ability. SI

I tend to go a more conservative route, resting 3-7 days a month (less if touring, more if practicing). Speaking of which, Fascist Eagle will release their first single next month SI

I gotta say touring in Europe is a giant pile of suck. 5K max venues. I gotta think there are some bigger venues over there so that my band isn't forced to just keep going to the US continually.

Since this is a short month I thought about touring for 14 days cause I needed some rest, but I could only schedule one night, because I didnt have any songs. I wonder if this only applies to the smaller tours?

Please take note of changes to how touring is handled:
1. Now bands that don't have as many songs to play will have a harder time booking gigs - especially for longer tours. Booking managers have complained that the 1 song demo cassettes your band has been sending just don't convince them that your band can last through a 60 minute set. 2. Now if your band gets rejected from a number of potential gigs during the month, they will still be able to schedule other activities with (some, but not all of) that lost time (instead of just staring into space or pining aw

Lucky for me Ive got about 25k in cash. I really think this will make it tougher on new bands, however, all of the bands already established wont have much problem with this.
