Preliminary Fight #2

Gene Tunney vs. Larry Holmes for the vacant WBO Heavyweight Title.

The books call this fight dead even. Tunney has trained hard and is ready to go, while Holmes looks a bit soft in the middle. He may have under trained a bit.

Both fighters land a ton of big power shots in the first three rounds of this fight. They are really going toe to toe in center ring for most of this fight. While the first round was dead even, rounds 2 and 3 were easily won by Tunney.

Holmes comes back strong in rounds 4 and 5, winning both of them pretty handily. Tunney looks like he is hurt, and not nearly as active as he was early on. In round 6, right at the opening bell Tunney walks into an uppercut that buckles his knees and one touches the canvas, so it is called a knockdown. Holmes has probably taken a slight lead in this fight midway through, thanks to the knockdown.

Round 7 is very even, with Tunney trying to make a comeback here. Very late in the round, Holmes goes to the canvas, but the ref says it was a push and there was no knockdown!

Holmes landed a ton of jabs in round 8 to easily win that round and kept it going in round 9 as well.

Tunney is falling behind rapidly now in the later stages of this fight and he resorts to a low blow to try to change things around. Of course, he is caught doing it and the ref correctly deducts a point from Tunney.

Tunney finally gets out of his funk and has a clean, solid, victorious round 11. It is probably way too late for Tunney unless he can get the knockout in the 12th.

Tunney just didn’t have enough to hurt Holmes in the 12th, never mind knock him out. This fight goes the distance.

Roger Tilleman scores the fight 114-114 - even!

Uh oh, could there be a bad decision on the way?

Jorge Velasco scores it 114-113 for Larry Holmes.

Gus Mercurio scores the fight 115-113 for the NEW WBO Heavyweight Champion of the World, Larry Holmes!

The decision was correct but it was way closer than is should have been.

Kyle Kappe vs. Joe Louis for the IBF Heavyweight Title of the World. If Kappe wins this fight, he would be next in line to get another crack at Ali. If Ali can beat Eckman, that is.

The books have this fight listed as even. Both fighters are in great shape and ready to roll.

Round one was pretty slowed paced, but Kappe added a little excitement by leaning back into the ropes and motioning Louis to come get him. Louis is not that dumb though and the round ends pretty evenly.

In round 2, Kappe shows off why he is the IBF Champion and teaches Louis a thing or two about boxing, easily winning this round and putting Louis on the run for cover.

Louis obviously does not appreciate being shown up because he comes back strong in round 3 and dominates Kappe to even this fight up.

Louis keeps taking it to the champ in Round 4. Midway through the round he lands a devastating right that broke the nose of Kappe. Blood is running down his face and into the champ’s mouth now. Score another huge round for the challenger!

Louis is really taking over every aspect of this fight in Round 5 and Kappe is in grave danger of dropping his title right now.

Things are not getting any better for Kappe in round 6. Louis is doing as he pleases in the ring and Kappe doesn’t seem to have a single answer for him. Halfway through the fight, Kappe is starting fall way behind in points and does not look to be in good shape.

More pain for Kappe in round 7. I am amazed that Kappe has not hit the floor yet. I have never seena fighter take so much punishment in just 7 rounds of boxing. Some fighters do not get hit this much in 12 rounds!

The action slows down considerably in round 8, but Louis is still the one pushing the fight and being more aggressive, so I think he wins this round as well.

Nothing changes in round 9 either. With just 3 rounds to go there is no doubt Kappe is going to need a knockout to win this fight and retain his belt.

In round 10, the improbably happens. Kappe lands a wild right that connects perfectly to the templ eof Louis and he drops as if he had just been shot in the chest! He barely gets up for an 8 count, but Kappe now has a chance to save himself! Louis is able to get out of the round, but he needs to recover quickly because his legs looked awfully shaky!

In round 11, Louis turns this fight into a clinching and holding affair, just trying not to let Kappe get off any punches. During one of these clinches the two men butt heads hard and when they pull away, both obviously in pain, Kappe is bleeding like crazy from under his left eye. The ring doctor takes a look at the injury and allows this fight to continue! The injury clearly affected Kappe though and he takes a lot of punches in the round and loses it.

Kappe is obviously looking for the knockout in round 12, but his punches don’t have nearly enough sting on them to get the job done. This fight does the distance and we go to the cards.

Charlem Prayadsub scores the fight 117-110.
Marshall Walker scores it 115-112.
Hugh Echols scores it 117-111 for the winner and NEW IBF Heavyweight champion of the World…………Joe Louis!

Timmy Kings vs. David Yellope for King’s FOFC Heavyweight Title.

Both fighters are in perfect shape for this one and the books have it listed as even!

These two fighters come out for round 1 for the third time in the ring together during their careers. Kings is 0-2 against Yellope, but this is the first time King is the champ and Yellope the challenger. Kings certainly looks like the champ in round 1 as he gives Yellope a pretty solid beating. Can Yellope be feeling the affects of a hangover from the Ali fight?

Kings continues to play the part of defending champion in round 2, jumping out to an early 2 round lead on Yellope!

In round 3, it looks like Yellope has shaken off some of the rust because he returns a little punishment back to Kings in this round and easily wins it.

In the first 30 seconds of Round 4, Yellope sends Kings sprawling to the canvas with what looked like a punch. Kings pops right back up and says “Push! Push!” to the ref, but the ref says knockdown. Lucky break for Yellope there. Kings is clearly frustrated now and it shows in the way he is boxing. He is taking too many chances and midway through the round, Yellope cleanly knocks him down for a four count. Kings makes it out of the round, but he must get it together now. He has suffered a severe swelling under his left eye and his corner needs to go to work on that badly.

In round 5, Yellope comes out looking for the kill and goes to work on that eye immediately. The ref doesn’t give it much time and stops this fight right here.

The winner by TKO at the 1:05 mark of Round 5 and NEW FOFC Heavyweight Champion of the World, The American Bear, David Yellopeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Muhammad Ali vs. Jobu Eckman

This has been an amazing card so far with 3 new champions crowd in Holmes, Louis and Yellope. Can the wild German, Jobu Eckman make it a fourth new champion in front of his hometown fans here in Germany? Let’s get right down to the ring and find out!

Ali comes out in round 1, and tries to take the crowd out of the fight from the get go by landing a hard 4 punch combination to the face of Eckman. Eckman shakes his head and smiles at Ali, acknowledging the good opening shot. Ali wins round 1 by a small margin.

Eckman has a terrific round 2. He had the champ staggering backwards and I really thought Ali was going to go down. He would have if he didn’t back into the ropes for support! Ali survives the round on his feet, but Eckman wins the round!

Ali comes out early in round 3 and gives Beckman a little of his medicine back with some hard rights that land clean. Eckman absorbs the punishment though and then counters with his own right. The fighters trade punches and then the incredible happens. Ali swings and misses, leaving himself wide open for a huge uppercut from Eckman that sends Ali down to the canvas! This is only the second time in his career Ali has been down! Ali has trouble getting up but answers an 8 count. Ali doesn’t let Eckman get in any finishing shots, but this fight has taken a big turn for the hometown hero!

Ali does not look too good in round 4, and Eckman goes to work on him. The ref was about to step in when Ali started fighting back, but Eckman wins another big round and has the champ reeling!

In round 5, it is Eckman who is in big trouble. Ali seems to have regroup and is making Eckman miss with every swing and then countering successfully. Late in the round, Jobu was aobut to go down but he started clincging and grabbing Ali so he couldn’t hit him!

Jobu comes out in round 6 and his gloves are noticeably lower. He is tiring already. But still, he is able to get the better of the champ in this round and at the halfway mark, this fight is Jobu’s to win right now!

Jobu falls into the same trap he did a couple of rounds ago. He is swinging too aggressively and it is just too easy for Ali to dodge the punch and land a counter. Ali starts climbing back into the fight with a round 7 victory.

Eckman gets conservative in round 8, to limit Ali’s counter punching, but Ali can get the job done either way, and he gets the better of Eckman in the 8th. Jobu seems to be choking away his lead basically from fearing what Ali MIGHT do to him if he misses.

In round 9, Eckman has totally gone into his shell and is not doing a thing out there. As a result, Ali has now won three straight rounds and with only 3 rounds to go, this fight is again pretty even.

Jobu starts to come out of his shell in round 10 and tried to counter punch a little himself. He wasn’t terribly successful at it, but he made Ali miss enough that Jobu might have been able to sneak a victory out of this round. It was awfully close either way.

Round 11 is gut check time for both fighters, as they were too tired to move around much and just stood there trading shots. It was a tough call, but I would have to say Eckman is getting the better of Ali. We now head to the 12th and final round with no clear cut winner yet.

Jobu was totally out of gas in round 12 and barely connected. Ali was not much better but was able to land some shots. They just didn’t have anything on them. Ali had the best final round, which sometimes counts for two round sin the minds of the judges. It is almost time for the cards and the official decision in this title fight……

Training Results

Mike Tokunaga shows a little more power and a little more control against sluggers in his last fight. He has also improved his defense.

Jace Hunter showed more control against both boxers and sluggers. He also showed a better chin than we were used to seeing.

Neuq Amrev showed much better recovery skills, a much better chin and better resistance to cuts.

Kyle Kappe seems like he has lost a bit of defense.

David Yellope showed a slight increase in his power lately.

Kings might have lost a bit of recovery skills.

Eckman showed a little better control against boxers and a bit more recovery skills.

Breaking News:

Heavyweight boxer Neuq Amrev was seen at a Chicago Women's Liberation march, mocking the female protesters about the weakness of women. It just so happened that up and coming cruiserweight female boxer, Vonda Ward was one of the participants. Amrev and Ward got into a big arguing match in downtown Chicago. Later in the day papers were signed for the first ever inter-gender boxing match between the two! It is scheduled to be the Co-Feature on the next card, with Joe Louis getting a crack at the Ali for the UHC title. Louis had a very slow start to begin his career but has recently beaten Holmes and Kappe as well as winning his 7 of his last 9 fights, with the two losses both to Jobu Eckman, no slouch himself.

kingfc, no. After his next fight there will be a "roll of the dice" to see if anything happens, and it is based on how he does vs. his average showing.

So for instance, Neuq still lost in his last fight, but he went the distance instead of getting knocked out like usual. So you can lose, but if you at least looked better than usual then there is a chance you will improve.

I'll try to get you on the next card and see what happens.

I'm Neuq Amrev bitch!

Even with his talent boost, Neuq Amrev is the statistically worst FOFC boxer.

Opening Bout

Mike Tokunaga vs. Ignacio Catalan

The books have this fight listed as even. Catalan is in perfect shape for this bout. Rumors were circling about the continued disputes between Tokunaga and his manager. The controversy may affect Mike in the ring.

Both fighters looked like they were going for the early kill in round 1. Cataln started off strong, landing a few nice shots on Mike, but Mike returned fire. Both fighters inflicted some pain right off the bat, and the first round was a toss up.

Tokunaga landed a few wake up calls in round 2. He had Catalan in a bit of trouble, but Ignacio was able to recover and land a few counters late in the round. Still, give it to Tokunaga.

The two fighters continue to trade punches in round 3. There were a few nice exchanges in this round, but Tokunaga probably got the better of Catalan once again in this round.

Catalan starts putting it together in round 4, and handed Tokunaga a pretty good beating in this round. An easy victory for Catalan and Tokunaga looks a little shaky now.

Tokunaga came out in the fifth looking very slow. Catalan took the opportunity to land some nice shots, but on one miss, Tokunaga countered beautifully and dominated the rest of the round, stealing a victory in the 5th.

Catalan came out strong once again in the 6th round, and this time he did not give Tokunaga any openings to fight back. A big round for Catalan. Midway through the fight, we are dead even.

Another big round for Catalan as he knocked Tokunaga down in the 7th. Tokunaga took until a count of 5 to get up, and he successfully avoided Catalan for the rest of the round, but it was still a 2 point round for Ignacio.

Round 8 was a slow starter, but the action picked up a lot in the final minute. The two fighters traded 3 big rights each. Catalan landed with more power, so we have to give him the round, but Tokunaga seems to have shook off the knockdown.

Catalan reasserted himself in the 9th round, landing 3 consecutive right handed power shots early in the round. He coasted to yet another victory in this round. Time is starting to run very short for Tokunaga.

In round 10, Tokunaga gives himself a chance in this fight with a devastating combination that sent Catalan to the canvas for a 4 count. Catalan got back up and Tokunaga tried to finish it. He couldn’t send him down again, but picked up a 2 point round of his own!

Tokunaga gives his progress back in round 11. He gets caught with a combination that sends him in the corner. All it took was a big jab from Catalan to send Tokunaga down for a 10 count!

The winner by KO at the 1:55 mark of Round 11 is Ignacio Catalan!

Preliminary Bout #1

David Gonzalez vs. Floyd Patterson

David is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. Both fighters enter the ring in great fighting shape.

Gonzalez had a lot of trouble finding an opening to land any type of punch. Patterson was a slow worker in the first round, but landed a few light punches for points, and he takes the round.

Gonzalez still has trouble finding a hole early in round 4. He absorbs a few stiff rights from Patterson and starts to attempt to press the action, but he is swinging wildly, just hoping for something to happen. That is a dangerous strategy and Patterson makes him pay with a sweeping hook to the side of the head that sends Gonzalez to the canvas. Gonzalez doesn’t even attempt to get off the canvas and the ref counts to 10!

The winner by KO at the 2:26 mark of Round 2 is Floyd Patterson!

Just great. My word processor froze up as I was typing out the decision of the Hunter/Rodriguez fight and I lost it all.

For a quick summary, these two fighters were a total contrast in style. Hunter was a head hunter tonight and Rodriguez worked the jab for all 12 rounds trying to wear Hunter down. Hunter knocked down Rodriguez early in the fight, but late in the fight Hunter was worn down. He was knocked down himself and Rodriguez looked much fresher in the final 3 rounds. The cards....

Luis Rivera scored the fight 114-113 for Pete Rodriguez.

Al Munoz scored it 114-113 for Jave Hunter.

Don Ackerman scored it 115-112 for the winner by split decision and NEW WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World.....Pete Rodriguez!

David Yellope vs. Kyle Kappe for Yellope’s FOFC Heavyweight Title.

The books say this fight is dead even. Both fighters appear to be in perfect shape.

Kappe did an excellent job of counter punching off of Yellope’s misses in round 1, and he was about to run away with the round, but Yellope threw a head butt in there that slowed Kappe down. I would still give the round to Kappe, but it ended up being very close.

Kappe comes out in round 2 and at the bell he nails Yellope with a hard jab that buckles Yellope’s knees and causes them to hit the canvas for a split second. The ref correctly calls it a knockdown! Yellope did a good job of staying out of Kappe’s way for the rest of the round, but it still should be a 2 point round for Kyle.

Yellope finally hits his groove in round 3 and is hammering Kappe early in the round with some terrific combos. Kappe finally causes Yellope to miss and comes back with a vicious cross and down goes Yellope! He barely gets up at the count of nine and he is stumbling around the ring as the fight continues! Again , Yellope is able to keep Kappe at bay and avoid another knockdown in this round.

Yellope looks much better in round 4, health wise at least. The two fighters have some exchanges in this round, but neither one got the better of the other.

Kappe comes back with a big round in the 5th. It looks like he is determined to take over this fight and end it sooner rather than later. Score another big round for Kappe.

Yellope is not going to give up his title without a fight. The 6th round is the first solid one for Yellope, and he gives Kappe a little beating of his own. Give the round to Yellope, easily. He fell way behind, but can come back if he fights a perfect fight the rest of the way.

Round 7 is another huge one for Yellope. He is starting to fight his way back into this and had Kappe reeling in the 7th. Score another big one for Yellope on the cards!

The action slowed down in the 8th round. It was a very close round, but I don’t know if Yellope did enough to earn it.

After getting a nice rest in round 8, Yellope came back strong with his best round of the fight. He had the ref watching Kappe very carefully, and if there were 30 seconds more in the round, Yellope might have been able to end it! One right cross in particular sent Kappe into the ropes and if he didn’t grab them, he would have went down. Kappe now has a massive swelling on his right eye!

Yellope continues to rack up points in round 10, particularly by targeting that eye of Kappe. Kyle just can’t see the shots coming in time and is getting nailed. Yellope was far behind at one point, and the fight is getting close, but Yellope better keep it going.

Score another victory for Yellope in round 11. If The Bear pulls this victory out, it might be the greatest comeback in the history of boxing!

Yellope does not let up in round 12 and has done everything he possibly could do since the 6th round to win this fight. We’ll find out soon enough if he was too far behind, or not!

Cesar Ramos scores the fight 115-114.

Jean Louis Legand scores it 115-114.

Eugenia Williams scores it 116-113 for the winner by unanimous decision and STILL FOFC Heavyweight Champion of the World, “The American Bear” David Yellope!

Arguably the best comeback in boxing ever. Yellope look all but finished after 5 rounds, and then won all then did not lose a round from the 6th to the 12th!

Neuq Amrev vs. Vonda Ward

The books in Vegas never put this fight on the board. Both fighters are in great shape for this historical bout!

Ward lands the first punch and last punch of the round, and there was pretty much no other action in round 1. Ward does take the first round though.

Ward is using her superior dexterity and speed to her advantage. She is popping Neuq and then running, repeatedly. It is working for her, but on the occasions that Amrev does land, you can tell it is doing some damage. Still Ward out pointed Neuq again in round 2.

Ward comes out in round 3 and lands her first power punch of the fight with a wicked hook that twisted Neuq’d head around. She follows up with a straight right that splits Neuq’s lip wide open! Amrev comes back strong in the round and ends up making it very close to even.

Amrev’s power is slowing Ward down in this fight and in the 4th round, Neuq is landing some good shots to the face of Ward. However, Ward catches Neuq with his guard down and pops Neuq right in the kisser and drops him to the canvas! Neuq barely gets up at the count of 9! Neuq gets out of the round, but needs to regroup now.

Ward has her legs back in round 5 and is running circles around Neuq, landing blows from every angle. It really looks like Neuq is out of his league and in some deep trouble here.

Ward takes over in round 6, just attacking Neuq and making a mockery of him in the ring. Neuq survives round 6, but his eye is all puffed up and the ref is getting close to stopping this fight!

Ward continues dishing out a beating to Neuq and late in round 7, Neuq has a look of get me out of here on his face. The ref agrees and stops this fight!

The winner by TKO at the 2:56 mark of Round 7 is Vonda Ward!!!!!!

Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Louis for Ali’s UHC Heavyweight Title!

The books have this fight listed as even money on either fighter. Both fighters are in absolutely perfect shape.

Through three rounds we have a great fight on our hands. The two fighters are dishing out and receiving a ton of punishment. Ali has decided to just slug it out with Louis and is not moving like he normally does. Give Louis a very slight edge after three rounds.

The two fighters swap rounds in 4 and 5. Neither fighter is hurt very much and both seem to have good legs and plenty of steam left.

In round 6, Louis cuts open the champ under his right eye! Louis draws first blood in this battle. We are at the halfway point and this was the first real damage taken by either fighter. With 6 in the books, Louis is still clinging to a small lead over Ali.

Round 7 is a marginal victory for Ali, but Round 8 was just about the end of Ali’s title reign! Louis threw everything he had in his arsenal at Ali, landing most shots very clean! Almost at the exact same time the ref stepped in and the bell rang. You could see the indecision on the ref’s face and he ended up just separating the fighters instead of doing what it looked liked he stepped in to do. Ali’s eye is still dripping blood and now his other eye, the left, is starting to swell up. Ali is in big trouble right now.

Louis continues to turn on the heat in round 9, landing combinations and some devastating hooks that has Ali covering up. Very late in the round he gets Ali trapped in the corner and connects with a huge uppercut that rolls Ali’s eyes back in his head. Ali slumps against the ropes and the ref comes running in and pulls Louis off the champ. He is stopping the fight!!! Louis has handed Ali his first ever loss and has taken his title! Louis knees in the center of the ring and kisses the mat as the crows is in a frenzy witnessing a historic moment in boxing!!!

The winner, by TKO at the 2:45 mark of Round 9, and NEW UHC Heavyweight Champion of the World, Joe Louissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!

Dammit, I softened Ali up for Louis. I'll take Louis on again and kick his ass for the third time!

Or, if you prefer, I'll shut Yellope the hell up. I'm tired of hearing his loud mouth flapping...

Quick, while I'm hot, I want the U20 Belt. Bring it on Chupacabra! The Cobra is going to take you down!

That is . . . unless I'm not under 20 anymore, which is also fine.

Much talk.. little action, compadre. Just a little reminder. I have NEVER.. I MEAN NEVER been beaten for the FOFC Championship. I gave it up to give Muhammed Ali a fight he won't soon forget, then went back and got MY title back.

If you want a fight, Marm, sign the deal, if I can't get a shot at the Bronx Bomber (Joe Louis). BUT.. Jeebies.. gotta fight under my rules. 15 rounds. You'll probably be puking your guts by the 14th, but you want to be a champion.. you got to FIGHT like a champion.
