Euro FFL Week 13 Early Recap

Alf Hard Cats 54.40-59.74 An Oriant Stars
In the most crucial game of the week, the score isn't complete yet.
The Hard Cats are waiting for points from Frank Wycheck and the Jets defense to edge around the Stars.
For both teams, a win means remaining in the playoff race.
For the loser, the last game a 150+ point performance is compulsory.

Garden Dwarves 156.04-105.78 Glasgow Kilties
Jon Kitna, Randy Moss, Chris Chambers, Clinton Portis and the Rams defense all scoring 22+ points.
The Kilties had no chance, despite a possible 2nd highest team performance this week.
The Dwarves clinch the #2 spot in the division.
The Kilties drop back to 7-6, but could still make it depending on other results.

Paris Musketeers 95.22-81.32 Elven Knights
The Musketeers do what they need to, with Santana Moss and the Titans defense still to play.
Chances are slim Moss will score -14 points and help the Knights turn around the score.
The Musketeers remain in the battle of the #4 position, yet other games should go their way too.
The Knights take a playoff spot with a victory next weekend.

Maassluis Anglers 90.40-69.80 Goteborg Goblins
With Marshall Faulk socring 32.30 points, the Anglers are bound to beat the Goblins.
Only a negative combine score for Chad Pennington and Anthony Becht can keep the Goblins alive.
The Anglers clinch the division title.
The Goblins drop out of the playoff race.

GeG Trolls 76.30-59.84 Ruhrpott Miners
With Gary Anderson still playing, the Trolls could do what they need to: win.
However, Derrick Mason and Eddie George could still outscore Anderson by 17 points...
If the Trolls win, they still need a miracle to get in the #4 spot.
The Miners are out of the playoff race.

R&D Devils 50.58-69.98 Ayr Raiders
As neither team have playoff chances, this game has little to no value to the championship battle.
With Curtis Martin still playing, the Devils could get their 2nd win of the season.
The Devils are unlikely to get out of last place now.
The Raiders could go 1 spot up if they can score 200 points next week.

Projected Standings:
11-2 Maassluis Anglers
9-4 Garden Dwarves
8-5 Elven Knights
8-5 winner of Alf Hard Cats-An Oriant Stars
7-6 Paris Musketeers
7-6 GeG Trolls (if they win)
7-6 Glasgow Kilties
7-6 loser of Alf Hard Cats-An Oriant Stars
6-7 Goteborg Goblins
5-8 Ayr Raiders (if they win)
2-11 Rurhpott Miners (if they lose)
1-12 R&D Devils (if they lose)

What in week 14?
Paris Musketeers vs Glasgow Kilties
- This game means the winner will finish at 8-6.
- The loser will miss the playoffs at 7-7.

Alf Hard Cats vs GeG Trolls
- This game means the winner will finish 8-6 (or 9-5 if Hard Cats win week 13).
- The loser will miss the playoffs (unless Hard Cats win week 13 and score 150+).

Elven Knights vs Goteborg Goblins
- The Knights clinch a playoff ticket if they win.

An Oriant Stars vs R&D Devils
- The Stars need to score 200 points due to their low number of point.
- However, if they win in both week 13 and 14, the playoffs are secure.
- The Devils could improve to 11th place with a Miners loss and a good victory.

Maassluis Anglers vs Ayr Raiders
- unimportant game for final rankings, unless Raiders win with 200+ points.

Garden Dwarves vs Rurhpott Miners
- Dwarves have likely clinched 2nd place, but could still need 50+ points.
- The Miners have only last place to stay away from with a victory or Devils loss.

Well, it's about time.

I hope my team doesn't have to play the Musketeers or the Dwarves in the semi's (with respect to the other top teams, but these two score 125+ on a good week.)

Actually, my earlier calculation (about a week ago) were wrong, and your team has to win, but either Alf Hard Cats or Elven Knights have to lose as well.

Dark, you're not going to like the rankings based on all scores all year per team compared to all scores in the league, especially if your team would fail to reach the playoffs (not to mention GeG's team being already out of the race):
10-3 Garden Dwarves
9-4 Paris Musketeers
8-5 GeG Trolls
7-6 Glasgow Kilties
7-6 Elven Knights
7-6 Alf Hard Cats
7-6 Maassluis Anglers
6-7 An Oriant Stars
6-7 Goteborg Goblins
4-9 Rurhpott Miners
4-9 Ayr Raiders
3-10 R&D Devils
Note that these rankings do not reflect bonuses for players on bye weeks.

There are more rankings possible, like rewarding the top 78 (13x6) scores with a victory, or rewarding every score above the weekly average (amazingly exactly 78 scores were above the weekly average), but in the end, the schedule seems to have been crucial in a good way (Maassluis Anglers, An Oriant Stars) and in a bad way (GeG Trolls, Paris Musketeers).

Eruo FFL Week 14, early recap

Paris Musketeers vs Glasgow Kilties
- This game means the winner will finish at 8-6.
- The loser will miss the playoffs at 7-7.
- Either team needs an Elven Knights or Alf Hard Cats loss, though if one loses, the winner of this game seems secure for a playoff spot based on nubmer of points.
Recap: With Jeff Garcia having a career game (49.28 points!), the Kilties overcame Tomlinson's 35.6 points to lead 122.48-69.22 with MNF to go.
The Musketeers are out of the race, unless Torry Holt scores 53.27 points on Monday.
As earlier mentioned, this game can turn out to be the winner takes it all, depending on results in other games.

Alf Hard Cats vs GeG Trolls
- A winning Alf Hard Cats team will finish 9-5 and clinch a playoff ticket.
- A loss for the Hard Cats could be leathal as the Musketeers and Kilties play eachother and have significantly more points until now.
Recap: Despite Culpepper's 29.66 points, the Trolls are not what they used to be anymore.
The Hard Cats had a relative easy day, winning 74.42-58.26 and taking the third seed playoff ticket.

Elven Knights vs Goteborg Goblins
- The Knights clinch a playoff ticket if they win.
- A loss for the Knights could be leathal as the Musketeers and Kilties play eachother and have significantly more points until now.
Recap: The Knights failed to get their job done once again.
The Goblins, lead by Trent Green and the Patriots defense, managed the upset with a 107.78-68.62 victory.

An Oriant Stars vs R&D Devils
- The Stars need to score 150 points due to their low number of point.
Recap: Maybe the mission was too much to cope with.
The Stars continued to fail producing the big points, while Donovan McNabb lead the Devils to an upsetting 82.32-57.02 victory.

Maassluis Anglers vs Ayr Raiders
- unimportant game for final rankings, unless Raiders win with 200+ points.
Recap: We know the Anglers have won so many games against the worst team of the week.
They end the regular season in style, as the Anglers lead 57.90-28.98 with MNF to go.
Jeff Wilkins could turn around the score, if he outplays Marshall Faulk by 28.93 points.

Garden Dwarves vs Rurhpott Miners
- Dwarves have clinched 2nd place, the gap has grown to 225 points.
Recap: With Randy Moss, Jamal Lewis and especially Clinton Portis (55.40 points!) on fire, the Dwarves keep going.
With the Rams defense still to play, the Dwarves lead 133.86-87.10 and tag themselves favorites for the title.

Projected final standings (MNF can hardly change the final scores):
12-2 Maassluis Anglers *slim chance on 11-3
10-4 Garden Dwarves

To be honest, I'm fearing the semi's more then the final round, my team is build to have the best game in week 16 (that is if their teams don't clinch their playoff seedings in week 15 and most players stay healthy).
It has nothing to do with the opponent, really.

Final Four playoff Round Recaps

Maassluis Anglers (#1) vs Glasgow Kilties (#4)
As Jeff Garcia and Priest Holmes had big games once again, the duo lead the Kilties to the finals, as the Anglers players failed to get big scores in.
In the end, the Anglers might have had the players to get a 90-points game, as scoring WRs Darrell Jackson and Kevin Johnson were benched, while Brian Westbrook has a shot at outscoring Jerome Bettis' 7.5 points.
Still, the Kilties well deserve the victory, despite leaning on two star players (Garcia, Holmes). With David Akers still facing the Dolphins and Onterrio Smith benched, the Kilties could have scored, and still can score 100+.

Garden Dwarves (#2) vs Alf Hard Cats (#3)
With only Shaun Alexander putting up big numbers, the Hard Cats were doomed to lose. And they did, as Clinton Portis 26.1 and five others scored 10+ to wheel the Dwarves past the Hard Cats with ease.
Looking to the Dwarves bench, the team left out 4 players that could have helped the team to up to 150 points for 3 weeks in a row.
On the other side, the Hard Cats had the players on the bench to get 30 points more, however that still would have been too little to beat arguably the best team in te league, the Garden Dwarves.

On the losers brackets for places 5 to 8, Peyton Manning-lead the Paris Musketeers to the 5th place game, while the Goteborg Goblins reach that same game, unless Ricky Williams 30.6 points to help the Elven Knights tie the score.

Great... Now my team will take 3rd place with a 160-80 win over the Hard Cats next weekend...

On the other hand, my team has been a fluke all year, I didn't deserve to be in the final, but boy, am I dissapointed not getting a win over the Kilties and underservedly get there afterall...

So the title will be the third match between the Kilties and the Dwarves with a victory on each side.
Both games were big numbers :
103.16 - 123.48 win for the Kilties in week 2
105.78 - 156.04 win for the dwarves in week 13

If only I had played with Brian Westbrook!!!
The Bus was on my team for the last time, there's no return for him to the Anglers, because with him, my team has now lost 2 years in a row in the semi's.
Oh well, then I'll have to make 2004 become 2-out-of-4.

May the finale be a 300-point game!

With Portis and Bruce out. It was too hard !

Damn, If I'd played Brooks instead of that f... Kitna, the title was mine.

And if I'd remembered to swap back to the Miami defence, the title would still have been mine even with Brooks in

Don't know how my team did it, but woohoo!! anyway. Score 1 world championship for Scotland. This is as close as we'll get (not counting curling).

Congratulations Critch !!!

A very fine season capped by a Championship ring ! Well Done !!

For the Musketeers, it's really been an up and down year with winning streaks and losing streaks and an average record and ranking at the end (despite some pretty good offensive numbers).
Much like the '03 49ers, the '03 Musketeers were a team hard to figure out, capable of beating anybody, and then losing some unexpected games.
I though we were in some kind of a roll at the 2/3 of the season and that we would climb up the rankings to one of the top 3 spots at the conclusion of the regular season but then we started losing some games and I blew my chance for the Playoffs.

I'll comeback next year of course :-)) Was great to be part of it again.

The question remains :

Was the Draft's #1 overall pick RB Ladainian Tomlinson worth his lofty status ?

Honestly, I have a hard time figuring that out.
PROS and CONS anyone ?

Congratulations Critch on winning the league title.

For me, 3rd place isn't so bad afterall, even after the amazing 12-2 record in the "regular season".
Besides, reaching the final 4 three years in a row, well, that's not bad at all...
