I didn't have a problem with the way things were the first 2 seasons. I think this is worse than that. Of course, come February, I will be glad to get to see 16 straight.

Was anyone else hoping that they would announce that the series finale would be this season? I know they can probably milk this for 2-3 more seasons, but I kind of wish they would tighten things up and just have a great run through the end of this season and then finish the show up while it is still enjoyable.

Kate didn't have any armpit hair when she was doing Sawyer.
Hmm...another clue?

very interesting there must be some kind of odor supressant as well because otherwise kate and sawyer would have been quite ripe while riding the hobby horse. or maybe they are into that.

They probably do shave. You don't see all the guys with a thick beard on. I am sure their razor blades they found on the plane.

Is anyone else thinking about just bailing on this show?
I just got caught up with the last three eps, and while it's superficially okay, I'm just feeling jerked around more than ever. |

I must be delusional as well. I've really enjoyed this season thus far and am going to miss the several weeks without a new episode. Personally, and it's obvious from this thread that several disagree with me, I have been rejuvenated for this show by the current season to date.

I am enjoying this season, and I still look forward each Wednesday night to the episodes. Of course I have been a little disappointed from time to time, but overall, I am still very into the show.
Knowing that Cuckoo likes the show however, I may have to rethink how I feel.

He's delusional that all answers will be revealed. What's up with the cable coming from the ocean? Who's whispering? Fair enough. I thought you were saying he was delusional because he's still liking the show. I have absolutely no idea whether the questions will be answered or not, though I tend to side with you on that. Even if they are answered, the odds that those answers will be satisfactory are slim. This is a belief only intensified for me after recently going back and watching a bunch of old X-Files episodes. I should also add that I pretty much see both jbmagic and gottimd as a couple of headcases. And I mean really wacko kind of guys. You should listen to very little of what either says. I completely agree with jbmagic 100%. This show is one of the finest on TV and certainly ranks up there with some of the best dramas past or present. I am stunned that anyone could possible find anything to complain about with this show. Yes there are questions, but the problem appears to be one of viewer patience. Let the stoylines play themselves out and then make a judgement. If the show has 1 to 2 seasons left, there is a lot left to be seen. We should be thankful that the networks even offer up a great show like this when instead they could throw out yet another piece of drivel like "Dancing with the Stars" or some other crappy reality show or canned drama. I rarely even bother watching any network TV since the overall quality is so low, but Lost certainly deserves all the praise it had garnered. It is that good. I certainly do not agree with the 3 month break, but that is a money decision and a chance to float another show in a prime timeslot. Perhaps the new "Daybreak" show will prove to be watchable. If so, it will then be a win-win situation. If not, then we will all just have to count down the weeks until "Lost" returns. I know one thing for sure, I will be there in February eagerly watching to see what unfolds. -Cork P.S. To be fair, I will admit that the Jack-Sawyer-Kate love triangle is a curious bit of writing and could start to drag the show down if not handled properly. I'm enjoying the serie. Really. But I think there are things that doesn't click.
1-Why they don't take Kate, Sawyer and Jack when the "others" find him first instead all the Michael affaire? 2-For being a desert island, there are too much people. I guess in the 4th season they will find a Wall Mart and probably the "lost" XFL franchise. 3-Nobody till the 4th episode of the 3rd season has seen the other island? You know the french woman has been there for 13 years no? 4-If you makes numbers of the travelling time of the characters, their speed you will find the island is not little. Anyway, once I've quit on trying to make sense, I enjoy it a lot. |

I finally caught up with all the episdoes.
I will admit that the show has lost a little of its luster for me. There are some things that annoy me, such as plotlines that they just sort of drop for no reason (e.g, Walt? Abby? Etc.), but overall I still enjoy it. After the brilliance of the first season, I hold this show to a much higher standard than pretty much anything else on TV. I don't watch too many shows and I still get enough enjoyment out of it, that I wont be "dropping" it anytime soon. Even at its weakest it is still better than 90% of the crap out there. It sucked Ecko had to die, but if the actor wanted off, he wanted off. Assuming that the writers weren't really prepared for that, I thought they handled his exiting of the show very well. I liked the episode and how they tied everything in. I really like the "new" Locke. It's good to see him sort of being back to his old ways as opposed to being obsessed with that stupid button. I like his leadership style as well (come along if you want to). It's refreshing. I liked Desmond around too. I've enjoyed Jack's interaction with the Others quite a bit. It's been really well done and has provided for some great dialogue and scenes. I still like Sawyer a lot and have enjoyed that plotline as well. (It was also great to see "Mal" on the show as Kate's husband. That said, I didn't particularly like that flashback and felt like it didn't really add all that much to the character). Overall, I've been pretty pleased with the season. Like I said earlier, the show isn't what it used to be to me, but I still like it and will still watch it. I look forward to seeing where things go and figure to be in for the long haul. As for the two new characters with Locke, I think they are just other people who were on the plane. They were always about 30 other survivors just mulling around in the background. They just replaced two of those people with two new actors and gave them names and speaking parts. The golfer guy is supposedly "the Brazilian Tom Cruise".

Here's one guy's view on Lost. While I don't agree with him 100%, it's hard to argue with a lot of his points, especially the one about the "Tailies."
hxxp://www.pajiba.com/what-im-watching-on-wednesdays.htm “Lost” (ABC, 9 p.m.). Well you see, here’s the thing … it’s just that … well, you know. Fuck you, “Lost!” Seriously, man, fuck you long, fuck you hard, fuck you seven ways to Sunday. Two-and-a-half motherfucking years and we’ve gotten almost nowhere. Hell, they even managed to basically make all of the second season, which was already unfulfilling, relatively pointless. The Tailies? Obviously not that important, ‘cause they all dead now. The Hatch? Fucking blowed up (which means that, instead of pushing buttons for years and years, why not just let it blow originally, push the damn emergency button, and let that be that, since things seem just fine now?). Michael and Walt? Gone. Two-and-a-half motherfucking years and we’ve gotten almost nowhere. Old questions remain unanswered, and yet they just keep dumping more and more crap onto our plates. For example, here’s one for you, if you can even remember this. Way back when our Losties first found that cave some of them were living in for a while, there were some skeletons in there. And a bag with some black and white rocks. It was played up as kinda a big deal at the time, yet not a mention of it since. Not one sniff. Hell, they haven’t even told us how Locke ended up in his wheelchair — they just keep stretching out even the most basic shit. Two-and-a-half motherfucking years and we’ve gotten almost nowhere. Have we learned anything that actually matters in any character flashback this season? The “themes” of every damn flashback just reinforce shit we already know about these characters from prior flashbacks. Take last week’s “season finale” … please! (Bah-dump-bum.) We learned that Kate was married and in love but had to run off because it wouldn’t stick, since she’s on the lam and all that. Which we already got before, when that old man love of hers got killed. Nothing … fucking … new. You know, some folks have been making a big deal about the fact that “Criminal Minds” has been giving “Lost” a run for its money, ratings-wise, in this time slot. Well I’m not even remotely surprised. That show wraps up all its shit in a nice, simple hour. If “Lost” wrapped up any of its fucking loose ends over the course of a bloody season, that’d be a start and a marked improvement. But yet … I still fucking watch. Like “Jericho,” I’m intrigued by the bigger story (even though you’ll never convince me that they have this shit all mapped out — they lost my faith on that issue about halfway through season two). And worse yet, I’m invested. I should just take my loss and sell, but I keep hoping against hope that the market will pick back up. Deep down I know it won’t, but I just can’t help myself. Besides, sometimes it’s nice to have something to bitch about.

Questions unanswered does not mean the show has gone almost nowhere, it's gone an awfully long distance since the series premiere.
... but anyways, I think we need to start another thread. One for bashing the show and another for discussing what actually happens. Don't get me wrong, I have problems with the show too (I agree with the guy and the tailies)... but I'd rather spend my time talking about the show, then listing all the reasons why the show sucks.

One thing to keep in mind where the tailies are concerned is that one of them (Bernard) is still around and one (Libby) is said to be featured during the season in the flashbacks and one (Mr. Eku) asked to leave the show.
The writers may have much more in mind for the Mr. Eku character, but since he opted out of the show, those plans got wiped out. The one decision that I found odd was having the Anna Lucia character killed off. I thought this was odd since they went to the trouble to show us a decent amount of her backstory in the relatively short time she was on the show. Considering that the castaways have been on the Island for less than 70 days (give or take a few), I think that plenty has happened and that there has not been enough time to answer all the questions that arise. -Cork |

I, for one, take no issue with them bumping off Annoyance Lucia. She was awful. Horrible. Annoying. I couldn't stand her. It's sad that Libby had to go as well. It's also a shame that they appear to have scrapped the whole Walt plotline. I thought it was one of the more interesting of the first season. A kid with apparent "super" powers (well beyond that). The "others" are aware of this "gift" and desperately want him... For what end? It was great. But now, it appears, that because Walt (the actor) grew too quickly to make it believable that he was only on the island for 70 days or so, they had to scrap it. Someone should have thought of that. That's not something random like some actor wanting to leave the show or a couple of DUI's. Where's Gary Coleman or Webster when you need them? As for posting that fella's "take" on the show. I felt it'd help genereate some discussion (which it has) (yay me!) on the show, considering we're now in the midst of the 3 month layoff. If anyone has any speculation about clues or what not, let's discuss!

I don't think Walt is done with Lost. Maybe he won't be on the show...but his story will come up again in a key way. I think.
I'm annoyed that Libby got bumped off before we got a resolution to her story. WTF was that look on the cliff about?

Regarding Libby, I believe the plan is to keep her involved in the show as part of the Widmore Labs plotline. Remember, she's the one that ended up giving Desmond the boad.
And as far as Walt goes, he's gone, and they can't bring him back. The actor that plays Walt is 3 years older now? How strange is it going to be when they show them escaping in the motorboat, and Walt is taller than Michael? |

Anyone have any idea why Desmond was naked in the jungle? I had one thought but I'm not sure how much I like it. In both the Terminator and The Time Travelers Wife (maybe others?), when they travel through time, they arrive naked.

I talked about this with my co-worker but he missed it during the show.
When Jack started the operation on Ben/Henry, Zeke and some other guy got into an argument. The other guy said, "Shepard wasn't even on Jacob's list". WTF? Who is Jacob and what list are they talking about? The list of people who were supposed to be on the plane? Jack got on at the last minute after the scene with the desk-woman where Jack said he had to get on that plane to bury his father (or something like that). |

There was a list mentioned before with both the tailies and the main group. I believe the Otherswho infiltrated each group had a list of people to capture. I'm pretty sure the tailie Other told Anna Lucia that the list included the good people.
