Week 9:
WR Lamar Woods (maybe this is a big deal if our WR's are hurt) was suspended. Also, Special Teams star and backup FB Tony Seau was suspended. Backup SS Kevin Thompson was suspended. Injury Report: Randy is probable with his cracked sternum, but I want him to be 100% before we put him back in the lineup, particularly since he has already blown his shot at any awards. WR Lennox Franklin is probable with his elbow injury and due to injuries and suspensions to the other WR's, I'll probably push him back into the lineup. WR Michael Howard suffered a broken nose and is doubtful for this week. WR Dick Sayers tore his PCL and is probably done for the year. OLB Tim Coleman is probable with his neck laceration. Depth Chart Issues: We move Franklin back into the #3 slot, but with Howard's injury I'm forced to turn to Freshman Kevin Posey who is VERY raw as our #4 receiver. SR Jerome Bosley moves into the backup SS slot with Freshman Kevin Thompson's injury. Polls: 1. Miami 8-0 (20-17 win over #14 Boston College) 2. USC 7-0 3. Oklahoma (Bye) 4. Purdue 6-1 (35-17 win over now #5 Michigan) 5. Michigan 7-1 (first loss drops them from 3rd) 6. Ohio State 6-1 (40-7) 7. Penn State 5-2 (52-6 win over now #8 Iowa) 8. Iowa 5-2 (huge loss drops them from #5.) 9 Auburn 6-1 (44-13 win over South Carolina - weak schedule is keeping them down) 10. Texas 5-3 (19-18 win over #20 Nebraska, but the might Texas team has fallen.) Previews and Gameplan to follow later today. |

Boy, it seems like all your opening drives end with Mason kicking for three instead of one.

Today we host Notre Dame in a key matchup. Our offense and defense are both 1st in the nation. ND has the 6th best offense led by star HB Hank Tucker who is another amazing freshman running back. Tucker has hd over 200 yards in his last 2 games and has over 900 rushing yards on the year and 9 rushing TD's. He also has 300 receiving yards and 3 receiving TD's. He is averaging 5.5 YPC. Their defense is very solid and is ranked 24th in the nation. They are led by MLB Shayne Witherspoon. The 5 year Senior leads the team and is one of the tops in the nation with 70 tackles. He also has 5 sacks, 6 interceptions, 3 FF, and a defensive TD. They are ranked 16th in the polls. We are #2. We are 7 point favorites at home. Gameplanning: We are going to use our same offensive gameplan. We are going to use a balanced defense as their QB is really good as well. |

Tucker with 2 good runs, but their WR drops the play action 3rd and 3 pass. We force a 3 and out. Sanders has pressure on him and makes two bad throws which force a 3 and out. They start to drive, but Brad Adams has a big sack for a loss of 6 which puts them into a 3rd and 16. They hit a 50 yard pass on 3rd and 16, but holding negates the play. We stop them on 4th down and force the quick punt. We drive down to the 20, and an ineligible receiver downfield negates a 20 yard screen TD to Wes Nelson. On 3rd and 17, Billy Kelley runs a reverse for 28 yards and a TD!! 7-0. Notre Dame returns the kickoff for 85 yards and a TD. 7-7. C Eric Evans is hurt on a play in which Sedrick connect on a 32 yard pass with Kelley. However, they are getting tremendous pressure on Sanders and this won't help. Sedrick does a great job of making some good throws despite pressure, and he ends a 73 yard drive with a 13 yard TD on a post pattern to Franklin. 14-7. We stop them on the 11 this kickoff. Dwone Secules hurts his foot tackling their big HB and he has to leave the game. End of 1: 14-7 USC, with ND driving deep into our territory. They drive to our 20, mostly on the ground, but we stop them there and they attempt a 39 yard FG. It is short! Sedrick throws a pick, but he is bailed out as pass interference is called against ND. Sedrick hits Jerry Jones on a short out, Jones jukes two defenders, runs down the sideline for a 53 yard gain!!! Next play Wes runs it in from the 4 yard line. 21-7 with 10 minutes left in the half. First play of the drive, Brockington hits Morin in stride for a 76 yard TD! Dwone's injury really hurts our secondary. 21-14. We easily drive into the 30, and then are forced into a 3rd and 12. Sanders connects with the freshman Posey for a 19 yard gain! We are stopped on the 4 and we settle for the short FG. 24-14 lead with 5 minutes left in the half. They throw deep right away, Terry Betters intercepts it, returns it 16 yards to their 35. Very nice play. We end the short drive with a 2 yard TD run by Wes Nelson. 31-14 lead with 2 minutes left in the 1st half. We force a punt after a short drive. They pin us inside our 5 with just 30 seconds left. Donovan our backup C hurts his hip on the first run, and he doesn't look like he will return! This is very bad as our 3rd string C is horrible and will have to play now. Halftime: 31-14 lead. Sanders' stats: 15 of 21 for 231 yards 1 TD 0 INT. We easily move down the field on our first drive, but they stop us just outside the 5. We kick the short FG. 34-14 lead. Nate Ferrario, the freshman FS, intercepts their first pass which was deep. We get it on their 40. They stop us on their 16 and we kick the 33 yard FG. 37-14. Joshua Lewis with a big sack to start the drive. They aren't running it too much with Tucker due to the big deficit. We force a 3 and out. We exchange failed drives. End of 3: 37-14 lead for us. Sedrick drives us to about midfield, but throws a pick to the CB on a hook route. Despite the short field, we stop them at the 10. They kick the 27 yard FG. 37-17. Terry Betters breaks a tackle, jukes a defender, and races down the sideline for a long TD on the kickoff return! 44-17! Trevor Malone with a big hit on their HB inside our own 30, and forces a fumble which Bratton recovers. Sanders with a bad throw on 3rd and 5 and we have to punt. This is one of Sanders' worse games this year. Still a good game for most QB's. We force a 3 and out. We get stopped outside the 33, but eat up plenty of clock and make the 51 yard FG. 47-17 lead with just over a minute left. Backup MLB Robert Peete intercepts a slant and returns it 36 yards to their 25 to end a nice drive they were putting together. We run out the clock. Game over. 47-17. Pros: Great defensive effort against a very good offensive team - we held another great RB to under 100 yards rushing. Cons: So-so game for Sanders (compared to his other starts.) A few injuries that we can't afford. Hopefully, they aren't serious. |

Week 10:
Injury Report: Randy is probable as he is mostly recovered from his cracked sternum. WR Lennox Franklin is probable with his elbow injury WR Michael Howard is questionable due to complications from his broken nose. WR Dick Sayers is out due to his torn PCL. C Eric Evans suffered a subluxation of his shoulder, but is probable this week. C Lionel Donovan suffered a hip pointer, but is probable this week. OLB Tim Coleman is probable with his neck laceration. CB Dwone Secules is suffering from turf toe but is probable. FS Brian DeMulling partially tore his groin muscle and is doubtful for this week. That is a huge loss with Kevin Thompson being suspended. Depth Chart Issues: I'm giving Randy one more week at #3 until he is fully healed, but he will resume his starter's role when he is recovered. Franklin will remain as the #3 receiver. Howard will remain the #5 emergency receiver. Eric Evans will start this week and Donovan will remain the backup C despite their minor injuries. Secules will start despite his injury. DeMulling will have to be the backup due to lack of quality depth, but Nate Ferrario will start due to DeMulling's injury. The true freshman actually has more interceptions despite limited PT with 2 compared to DeMulling's one. Notable Stats: Wes has over 1000 yards (1,066) which is good for 10th in the nation. However, he is far behind the leader Jason Hughley who has over 1800 for Minnesota. Wes' 404 receiving yards is 2nd among HB's. His 6 receiving TD's leads all RB's in the nation. Jerry Jones is 6th in the nation with 831 receiving yards. Raghib Alt of Miami has over 1000 yards. Jerry's 50 catches is 8th in the nation. The leader has 60. His 6 TD's is tied for 4th. Alt has 9 for Miami. Dwone Secules leads the nation in interceptions among DB's with 5. Polls: 1. Miami 9-0 (26-16 win over Georgia Tech) 2. USC 8-0 3. Purdue 7-1 (34-20 win over Northwestern) 4. Penn State 6-2 (38-26 win over #11 Ohio State) 5. Michigan 8-1 (48-13 win over Michigan State) 6. Oklahoma 6-1 (31-17 loss to Texas A&M) 7. Florida State 5-2 (63-30 win over #22 Clemson) 8. Auburn 7-1 (32-18 win over #16 LSU) 9. Iowa 6-2 (38-3 win over Illinois) 10. Texas 6-3 (38-29 win over #20 Oklahoma State) |

Today we host Washington State. Their offense is mediocre and ranks 73rd in the nation. Their defense is decent and averages 46th in the nation. We are 1st in both. Marvel DelGaizo is a sophmore HB who is the star of their offense. He has over 600 yards rushing with 3 TD's and 140 yards receiving and a TD. Their entire linebacking corp is good, but SLB Matt Rogel is a star. He is a senior and has been their leading tackler every game. He has over 70 tackles on the year. We are only 8 point favorites at home which is a bit surprising. Gameplanning: We are running our pass first offense, and our balanced defense that we ran last week. |

We have 92,000 fans here today.
They get the kickoff on their 40 after a very good return. 3 plays in QB Billy Hinton hits his WR Lincoln for a 38 yard TD. 7-0 WAST leads. A holding call or two kills our drive, and we end up punting it from our own 35. Dwone Secules injures his foot again, and has to leave the game on the 1st play of this drive. We force a 3 and out. Terry Betters jukes two guys and finds a seam for a 68 yard Punt Return TD!!! 7-7. Brad Adams sacks the QB on the first play of the drive, and forces a fumble! Brad recovers it as well. 3 plays later Sanders hits Franklin in stride, but the SS nails him and he fumbles the ball. WAST recovers. We force a 3 and out. We exchange several failed drives. The defenses are dominating right now. End of 1: 7-7. We have the ball, but are still deep in our territory. We end up punting and they get a great punt return to get it to our 43. They put together a 7 play 43 yard drive which ends in a TD run by DelGaizo. 14-7 lead for WAST. We get stopped short of midfield, and have to punt it. We exchange several failed drives. They are getting tremendous pressure on Sanders. They put together a 60 yard drive with all of the yardage coming on the ground, but we stop them just inside the 25. They kick a 41 yard FG. 17-7 with just 90 seconds left in the half. Lennox Franklin is crushed on a deep pass and he drops it and hurts his arm. He won't come back today. We drive inside the 5, but time is running out and we kick a FG. 17-10 WAST leads. Halftime: 17-10 lead for Washington State. Sanders' stats; 11 of 16 for 138 yards 0 TD 0 INT. Sacked 5 times for 13 yards. Sanders is sacked on 3rd and 6, and we have end up punting. We stop them at midfield and they punt. Sanders is sacked on 3rd and 9 and it kills another drive. They get a good punt return and start on their own 40. Hilton hits Brent Lincoln for their 2nd TD of the day, this time a slant that he took the distance - 38 yards. 24-10 we are down. They stop us on 3rd and 9 and force a 3 and out. Another good punt return compounded by a personal foul gives them the ball on our 35. We stop them 3 consecutive plays, but they connect on a 52 yard FG. 27-10 with only 3 minutes left in the 3rd. DT Jake Hasselback sacks us on 3rd down and forces a punt after we had drove 35 yards. Unbelievable how bad they are dominating my offensive line. We need a big defensive play to get us going. We force a 3 and out. End of 3: 27-10 lead for WAST. They have been stuffing Wes all game long. Kelley drops a 3rd down pass when he is hit hard by the corner. We end up punting with 14 minutes left. We stop them after allowing only 1 first down, but time is working against us. Steve Boyd sacks Sanders and forces a fumble. They recover on our 25. We stop them without much gain, but they hit the 42 yard FG. 30-10 with only 8 minutes left now. Terry Betters returns it 100 yards, but gets stopped on their 1. Wes Nelson runs it in the next play. 30-17. We force a 3 and out. We get the ball back with 6 minutes left. We drive inside the 10, but another sack. Next play, Sanders connects with Kelley for a 12 yard TD pass. 30-24 but only 3 minutes left. Trevor Malone with a huge sack on 3rd and 2 to force a 3 and out. We get the ball back on our 14 with 90 seconds left. Eric Williams drops the first pass. Wes Nelson with a 10 yard pass gain. Jerry Jones drops a deep pass. They sack us on 3rd and 9. They put pressure on the QB on 4th and 17 and we can't convert. What a terrible game by our WR's in getting open quickly, and our offensive line in protecting. Game over. 30-24 loss. Pros: Not many. Cons: Terrible pass blocking, WR injuries caught up with us and we couldn't get open. Their Star HB ran well against us, and stopped our streak of not allowing a 100 yard rusher. |

Week 11:
Injury Report: Howard is almost 100% after suffering a broken nose and is probable now. WR Dick Sayers is out with his torn PCL. C Lionel Donovan is probable with his hip injury C Eric Evans is probable with his shoulder injury OLB Tim Coleman is probable with his neck laceration FS Brian DeMulling is doubtful with his groin injury. QB Randy Collins is 100% WR Lennox Franklin is 100% CB Dwone Secules is 100% Depth Chart Issues: Randy returns to the starter's role. This may have been a tough choice if Sanders hadn't been sacked so many times last game, but it is an easy choice. Randy's extra mobility along with his excellent arm gives us the best chance to win. WR Lennox Franklin resumes his #3 role. WR Michael Howard resumes his #4 role as his injury is mostly healed No other changes. Polls: That loss only dropped us to #4 which we might recover from. Washington State vaulted into 21st from 40th! 1. Miami 9-0 (Bye) 2. Purdue 8-1 (44-13 win over #13 Iowa) 3. Penn State 7-2 (32-30 win over Northwestern) 4. USC 8-1 5. Michigan 8-1 (Bye) 6. Florida State 6-2 (26-6 win over NC State) 7. Oklahoma 7-1 (53-17 win over Texas Tech) 8. Auburn 8-1 (37-16 win over Miss State) 9. Texas 6-3 (bye) 10. Kentucky 7-1 (41-6 win over South Carolina) Preview: Today we play Oregon at their stadium. They are 2-8. Their running game has been very strong and their offense is 54th as a result. Bob Smith came back for his senior year and have over 700 yard rushing with 2 TD's. Their defense is among the worst in the nation, hence their record. The only really talented player is DE Clarence Hufnagel who has 2 sacks and 8 hurries on he year. He is a load at 6'7 and 290 pounds. If he comes back for his senior year, he could be special next year. Our offense is 2nd in the nation, our defense is 1st in the nation. We are 16 point road favorites. Gameplanning; Our OC wants to run the same offense, just better than last week. Our DC thinks I'm underestimating their passing game, and that we should play a generally balanced defense. I agree with my coordinators. |

"Only" 38,000 fans here in Oregon today.
We start at the 30. Wes starts off with a 7 yard run out of a 4 WR set. We drive inside the 25, but they sack us and force a 47 yard FG attempt. It's wide right! We stuff the first two runs, and Joshua Lewis sacks the QB on 3rd down forcing a punt. Wes starts off with a great cutback run for 23 yards. Randy with great short passing on this drive and nice runs by Wes to drive 60 yards for a TD. The drive ends with a 3 yard TD pass to Jerry Jones. 7-0 lead. They manage to drive to midfield but we stop them there and force a punt which they put inside our 5 yard line. Randy is great on a drive that takes us 92 yards in 8 quick passes, but we are stopped on 3rd down. End of 1: 7-0 lead and we are about to make a FG. 10-0 after the chip shot FG is good. Bob Smith makes a nice 39 yard run, but we stuff them the next 3 plays and force a punt from midfield. Wes starts off the drive with a 29 yard run from a 3 WR set. Randy hits Jerry for 24 yards on a crossing route. 2 plays later Wes runs it in from the 21 yard line for a TD! 17-0. Wes has 120 yards on 13 carries with 10 minutes left in the half. We force a 3 and out. Randy gets hurt on the 1st play of this drive, it is doubtful he will return. Howard is hurt the next play, he is doubtful to come back. Lennox Franklin drops a 3rd down pass that would have been a sure TD. We settle for a 30 yard FG. 20-0 USC with just under 2 minutes left. A great kickoff return brings it across midfield to the 45. Despite the great field position we stop them at the 35. They connect on a 53 yard FG. 20-3. Halftime: 20-3 lead for USC. Randy's stats 13 of 20 for 159 yards and 1 TD 0 INT. Sanders stats 4 of 5 for 38 yards 0 TD 0 INT. Nelson's halftime stats: 21 carries for 135 yards and a TD. Brad Adams races downfield to catch a WR from behind on a crossing route, and punches the ball loose to force a fumble! Brad is having a great year. We recover the fumble. Sanders overthrows on 3rd and 8, and we punt from our own 40. The next drive we stop when Bratton intercepts a short slant and manages to return it 41 yards. A balanced drive ends with a Wes Nelson TD run! 27-3. We exchange failed drives and punt the ball inside their 10. We stop them at their 30, and they have to punt. End of 3: USC 27 - Oregon 3. We are inside their 15. They stop us on 3rd and goal from the 5 and we settle for a FG. 30-3. We do a double Cornerback blitz and force a sack. Betters forces a fumbe, Secules recovers it! A few plays later Wes Nelson runs it in from the 7 for a TD! 37-3 with 11 minutes to go in the game. They put together a short drive, but we stop them short of midfield. Sanders overthrows on 3rd and 4 and we end up punting. We force a 3 and out. We start on our 3, but Sanders connects with Posey, our supposed crappy freshman and he makes a man miss and runs for 40 yards! Walter comes in on 3rd and 2 on their 30, but despite his speed, he is sacked for a loss of 4. We make the 53 yard FG. 40-3 with 4 minutes to go. We force a 3 and out as our defense is playing great today. We run the ball, and run out the clock. Game over. 40-3 win. Pros: Great running game. Great defensive effort (possibly our best all year, despite not getting many sacks or interceptions, we dominated them.) Cons: Randy was hurt, yet again. |

Week 12 News:
FB (and special team star) Tony Seau has returned from his suspension. Unfortunately, SS Kevin Thompson WR Lamar Woods RB Lawrence Armstrong are all suspended for the next 3 weeks. Injury Report: WR Lennox Franklin suffered a pulled muscle in his back. He is probable for this week. WR Michael Howard is probable despite tweaking his broken nose last week. WR Dick Sayers is out with his PCL injury. C Lionel Donovan is probable with his hip injury FS Brian DeMulling is questionable with his groin injury. C Eric Evans is 100% OLB Tim Coleman is 100% Depth Chart Issues: Seau returns to his backup FB slot and his role on special teams. No other changes. Notable Stats: Wes Nelson is 9th in rushing with 1,320 yards on the season. Hughley in Minnesota has over 2250 yards on the season with a 7.35 ypc average. Wes is 3rd in the nation with 13 rushing TD's. Wes' 4.7 YPC average is lowest among the top 10 rushers. Jerry Jones is 7th in the nation with 985 receiving yards. Alt of Miami is first with 1119 yards. Jerry Jones is 5th with 62 receptions. The leader has 74 catches. Brad Adams is 2nd in the nation with 7 Forced Fumbles. Dwone Secules is now 18th in the nation with 5 interceptions. Brad Adams is 1st in the nation with 7 fumbles recovered. Polls: 1. Purdue 9-1 (Beat #20 Ohio State 28-23) 2. Michigan 9-1 (62-24 win over #24 Wisconsin) 3. Miami 9-1 (22-20 loss to #22 North Carolina) 4. USC 9-1 5. Oklahoma 8-1 (39-10 win over Temple) 6. Florida State 7-2 (24-15 win over Duke) 7. Penn State 7-3 (24-20 loss to Indiana drops them 4 spots) 8. Auburn 8-1 (Bye - SOS is 65th which is lowest among top 10 teams) 9. Texas 6-3 (bye) 10. LSU 6-4 (34-33 win over Vanderbilt) BCS Rankings: 1. Purdue 2. USC 3. Michigan 4. Oklahoma 5. Miami 6. Auburn 7. Florida State 8. Oklahoma State 9. Penn State 10. Texas Preview: Today we play Standford which is 2-8. Their offense has been horrible and is ranked 109th in the nation. Their defense has been horrible (105th.) Their best player is SS Clint Romero who is having a very good year. He has 100 tackles, 9 PD, 4 INT's on the year, but that high tackle total is due in large part to his linebackers missing so many tackles. Our offense is 2nd and our defense is 1st. We are only 16 point favorites at home?!? Gameplanning: Our offense will be the same. We'll use the same defensive plan as last week. Let's crush em! |

Have Purdue and Michigan played yet this year? Are they on schedule to play each other? Michigan will end with Ohio State, so they have to have at least one tough game left.
Bummer to see the WSU game go down like that. Up to that point your squad looked truly dominant. |

We have a sell out again. It's sunny and clear.
Randy throws a pick on our 1st play of the game! They get the ball on our 38. We stop them on 3 consecutive plays but they make the 50 yard FG. 3-0 lead Standford. Terry Betters returns the kickoff for a TD!! 7-3. Marcus Thompson sacks the QB on the first play of their next drive. We force a 3 and out. We tear them apart on this drive covering 82 yards in 9 plays ending with a 12 yard TD run by Wes Nelson. 14-3. Dwone Secules collides into their WR after he makes a catch. Dwone has a concussion and has to come out of the game. They put together a surprisingly good drive, but we stop them inside the 20 and they kick the short FG. 14-6 lead for us. Terry Betters fumbles the kickoff and Stanford recovers! Stanford connects on a short TD pass. 14-13 lead for us still. A great kickoff return gives us the ball at midfield. On 2nd and 6, Wes Nelson gets the screen. Great blocking opens it up and he takes it 48 yards for a TD! 21-13. Well just wow. Their QB is better than I thought and he orchestrates a 71 yard TD drive with a 12 yard TD pass at the end. He must have been hurt most of the year. 21-20 lead for us. End of 1: 21-20 lead for USC. A false start on 3rd and 6 forces us into a 3rd and 11 which we are unable to convert. We kick a long FG to make it 24-20. We force a 3 anad out, and they punt it to our 20. Randy leads a very methodical drive which ends with a TD run by Wes Nelson. 9 plays, 77 yards in 2:43. Great drive. 31-20. We force a 3 and out. Randy is sacked on 2nd and 7 which causes us to get into a long 3rd down. A personal foul on 3rd down negates the good pass. We end up punting it. They get it back on their own 30. We force a 3 and out as they try running the option, but we stuff it. Randy runs a great 2 minute drill to get us inside the 15 before the clock runs out. We kick the 31 yard FG. 34-20 lead for us. Randy hurts his hamstring on the last play of the drive, he won't return! Halftime: 34-20 lead for us. Randy's halftime stats: 21 of 23 for 283 yards 1 TD 1 INT. We force a 3 and out to start the drive. Sedrick starts the 2nd half due to Randy's injury. We make a 10 yard pass to Wes, but the next play their MLB sacks Sanders for a loss of 10. We come up a yard short on 3rd down, but Walter comes in on 4th and 1 and scrambles for 22! We drive inside the 10, but they stop us and we settle for a short FG. 37-20 lead for us. We are moving the ball great, but not finishing all of our drives. Kevin Putnam with a huge sack on 2nd 1nd 10 forces a 3rd and 21, which we stop. 3 and out. A short punt gives us great field positon. We drive inside their 20, but end up settling for a FG. 40-20. We force a 3 and out, but a great punt forces us back inside our 10. They stop us after a very short drive. End of 3: 40-20 lead for us. We get an interception from DeMulling who returns it for 41 yards to give us great field position. 2 plays later Sanders connects with Franklin for a TD pass. 47-20. We force a 3 and out. 2 plays later Sedrick hits Jerry Jones on a short cross, but he is hit by the DE Hoernschemeyer causing a fumble which Stanford recovers to give them great field position. We force a 3 and out. Our defense started off poorly, but they have been dominant now. First carry Wes Nelson is nailed by Bobby Dean who forces a fumble. Bobby recovers it for Stanford. Now they have it on our 20. We stop them 3 plays in a row, and they miss the 39 yard FG. Still 47-20 lead for us. We drive to the 50, but Sedrick throws an out when the WR ran an in. It is picked off by the cornerback. We force a 3 and out. We run the ball mostly on a 68 yard drive which ends in a 2 yard TD run by Malcolm. 54-20 with under 2 minutes left in the game. Trevor Malone intercepts the ball on the 2nd play of their drive. We run out the clock. Game over. 54-20 win for us. Pros: Another great game for Wes who had over 250 yards from scrimmage. Randy had a very good 1st half. After a rocky first quarter, the defense was great. Cons: Randy was hurt again. Just a so-so second half from Sanders. |

I'm checking that now. We really did look like a dominant squad up to that point. I think our main downfall was too many WR's injured and an amazingly poor game by our offensive line in concert with that. Purdue beat Michigan 35-17 in week 7. Purdue's last game is Indiana at home which I would expect them to win. Here is a look at Purdue's Info:
Here is a look at Michigan's Info:
Obviously, I feel a bit better about the chances that Michigan will lose to Ohio State. |

Week 13:
Award finalists have been announced: Pac 10 Candidates only listed: Davey O'Brien: None from the Pac-10! Randy certainly would have had a good chance if he hadn't been hurt. Chuck Bednarik: SS Clint Romero, Stanford. Paul "Bear" Bryant: I'm a finalist! Bill Johnson of Arizona. Now a listing of all of the relevant (guys who I think have a chance plus pac-10 finalists) Heisman Finalists: WR Raghib Alt, Miami RB Don Adkins, Missouri RB Ed Angsman, Cal QB Roosevelt Hammack, Auburn RB Jason Hughley, Minnesota (led the nation in rushing) RB Wes Nelson!! QB Wayne Williams, Purdue. I'll be surprised if anyone else wins it who isn't on this list. Polls: We dropped to 5th despite beating up on a weak opponent. 1. Purdue 9-1 (Bye) 2. Michigan 9-1 (Bye) 3. Miami 10-1 (27-17 win at VT) 4. Florida State 8-2 (27-22 win over #18 BC - still shocked they are above us) 5. USC 10-1 6. Oklahoma 9-1 (38-10 win at Baylor) 7. Penn State 8-3 (34-27 win over Michigan State) 8. Auburn 9-1 (38-17 win over Arkansas) 9. LSU 7-4 (32-3 win over Miss State) 10. Oklahoma State 9-1 (38-23 win over Kansas) BCS: 1. Purdue 2. Week 14:
Polls: Wierd, despite all of the top 10 teams having byes we moved up to #4 over the 8-2 Florida State. No other changes in the top 10. BCS: We are still 3rd. I guess it wasn't just the poll issue. Michigan just edged Purdue for #1 with Purdue at #2. Let's go Ohio State and Indiana! Injury Report: QB Randy collins is still suffering from his pulled hamstring, but he is probable this week against our rivals. CB Dwone Secules is still suffering from Vertigo after his concussion. He is probable. FS Brian DeMulling is mostly healed from his groin injury, and is probable today. WR Lennox Franklin is 100% WR Michael Howard is 100% WR Dick Sayers has recovered amazingly fast from his PCL injury! C Lionel Donovan is now 100% Depth Chart Issues: Randy remains #1. Dick Sayers becomes the #5 receiver again. Brian DeMulling replaces Nate as our starting FS now that he is mostly healed. Nate will still get on the field some. No other changes. Preview: We play a 4-6 UCLA team that has been ravaged by injuries and turnovers. Their offense moves the ball ok and is 58th in the nation. Their best player is the TE they stole from me a year or so ago, Mike Zorn. Mike only has 13 catches this year, but he is a talented TE. SLB Joe Diehl spearheads a very good defense that has rarely had everyone healthy this year. Joe himself has missed 2 games, but he still has 50 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 INT's and 5 stuffs. He is a very good linebacker in a very good corp. Our offense is 2nd in the nation and our defense is 1st. We are 13 point favorites at home. Gameplanning: No surprises, both coordinators want to use a similar gameplan as last week. I agree. I'll be peaking at the Michigan and Purdue games today as well. |

Another sellout. 65 and slightly cloudy today.
Randy overthrows his first pass. Randy hits Kelley for 5 on the next play. Next play is a 30 yard pass to Franklin! Eric Evans hurts his back and has to leave the game. After 2 short plays, Randy hits Jerry for 10 yards. Next play is a 9 yard out to Kelley. Overthrows on 2nd and 1. Liske runs it on 3rd down for 6 yards but fumbles. OG Dan Woods recovers it. Wes runs it for 4, then gets stuffed by Diehl for a 1 yard loss. On 3rd and 7, Randy connects with Jones on a corner route for a 13 yard TD!!! 7-0. Good first drive. Malcolm with a personal foul on the kickoff gives them the ball at midfield! Brad Adams stuffs their first two runs, and the 3rd and 13 is high. We force a 3 and out. Good punt starts us at our 8. Lionel Donovan with a huge block to spring Wes for a 21 yard run. Randy overthrows his next 2 passes (after Wes was stuffed) and we end up punting. Darn, Kalimba Coslet converts a 3rd and 7 by making two guys miss and getting a 11 yard gain. Brian DeMulling is hurt tackling their HB and has to leave the game. We stop them and force a punt just short of midfield. Terry Betters with a 18 yard return to give us good field positon on our own 31. Wes Nelson with a 23 yard run out of a 4 WR set on 3rd and 2. We put together a 9 play 69 yard balanced drive over 3:15 that ends in a 2 yard run by Wes Nelson! 14-0. A very good kickoff return starts them at their own 45. We force a 3 and out as the 1st quarter is ending. End of 1: USC 14 - UCLA 0! They stop us a yard short on 3rd and 5 and we go 3 and out. Courtney Carlton intercepts a deep pass. They stop us just past the 50 and we have to punt. We stop them short of midfield and they have to punt. Randy is hurt just handing the ball off! He has to leave the game. Sanders underthrows on 3rd down and we have to punt. We stop them short of their own 35 and force a punt. We drive to midfield, but Wes Nelson is crushed as he catches the screen and he fumbles it. They recover. Their QB hits 3 big passes including a 15 yard TD pass to TE Mike Zorn just before the half ends. 14-7 USC leads. Halftime: 14-7 lead for us. Randy's stats: 12 of 18 for 117 yards 1 TD 0 INT. Sanders stats: 3 of 5 for 43 yards. We kickoff and they start on their 17. Fred Wilson hits Stacey Bosley (their other WR) on a 44 yard fly route to start the drive. We stop them the next 3 plays, and they attempt a 54 yard FG which is wide right! Sanders hits Jones on a quick slant, and he turns it into a 52 yard TD. 21-7. Stacey Bosley catches another long pass, but Dwone came from across the field to make a TD saving tackle inside the 10. We stop them short on 3rd and goal from the 5 and they settle for a short FG. 21-10 we lead. We go 3 and out. We stop them just inside the 30 and they kick a 45 yard FG. 21-13. End of 3: USC 21 - UCLA 13. We are inside their 10 and driving. We put together a 13 play 90 yard drive mostly through the air. It ends with them stopping us 3 yards short. We settle for a short FG. 24-13. They hit a few short plays before Fred Wilson hits Graham in stride for a 70 yard TD! They make the 2 point conversion and it is 24-21, USC leads. We start on our 20. Sanders hits Kelley for a 13 yard pass. Sanders passes to Franklin for 3 yards on the short curl. Sanders scrambles for 3 yards to make it 3rd and 4. Sanders throws it to Wes who makes a man miss and gains 9. Wes runs for 3 yards. 2nd and 7. Sanders just overthrows Franklin on a deep pass. On 3rd and 7, Sanders connects with Kelley for 6 yards. on 4th and 1, no one is open, Sanders scrambles, gets stopped short of the 1st. We turn it over right around midfield. We force a 4th and 1. They overthrow their receiver and we get the ball back at our 46. 7 minutes left. Wes runs for 7. Sanders is sacked for a loss of 2. On 3rd and 5, he is sacked again for a loss of 1. We end up punting with 5 1/2 minutes left. Incomplete pass first down for them. We stuff the HB for a 1 yard gain the next play. Dwone breaks up the 3rd down pass. They punt! We have it on our own 37 after a short punt. Sanders hits Franklin for 9. Sanders with a perfect pass to Franklin on a deep pass, but Howard drops it! Sanders was hurt on the play. They stuff Malcolm on 3rd and 1 and we have to punt. They start on their 20 with 2:30 left on the clock. Incomplete pass. 2nd and 10: The QB underthrows the receiver 3rd and 10: The receiver drops the pass. 4th and 10: Nate knocks down the pass! We get the ball deep in their territory with a minute left. Walter has to come in because Sanders is really hurt. We run the ball and run out the clock. Game over. 24-21 win. Pros: The defense made plays when it mattered at the end. Cons: Gave up too many yards. Poor passing at times. Not a great game for Wes to punctuate his Heisman bid. Randy is truly a glass man. I need to change the title of this thread (I think Buc initially suggested the change.) |

Our Offense finishes 2nd in the nation. Our defense finishes 1st in the nation. The good news is only 14 of our guys are seniors. The question is: How many of our star juniors will go Pro early?

We will be playing Miami for the National Championship. The bad news is that it is at the Orange Bowl this year.

Injury Report:
Everyone is 100%! Correction, our offense and defense are both #1 in the nation! Preview: We averaged 502.3 YPG this year. Miami averaged 444.5 yards per game. We only allowed 293.4 YPG on defense. Miami only allowed 361.4 YPG. The Talent on our offense is judged to be quite a bit better by most experts. The Talent on our defense is judged to be a bit better. We are 10 point favorites going into the game! A look Miami's stats and results on the year:

Looking over their stats, a couple of keys that stand out:
Brad Morgan has been quite good, but mainly due to how great Raghib Alt is. We need to stop Alt without double teaming him and also stop Steve Clatterbuck. Brad Beach is a versatile back who will be tough to contain, so we can't focus on just stopping their passing game. We must make sure we keep DE Michael Hall from disrupting our passing game with his phenomenal pass rush skills. Our Offensive coordinator wants to keep things the same. Our Defensive Coordinator is coming up with a complicated blitz scheme to try to stop their passing game, by putting pressure on the QB. It's time for kickoff now. |

What quarter does everyone think Randy will get hurt in during the title game? I'm going to say 2nd quarter.
Sorry, Eaglesfan, but I can't stop laughing at the misfortune of Randy Collins. At least the team is winning.

I just have to laugh at it at this point too. He actually played the entire game other than a brief period where he was slightly hurt! It could have been a poll, with all of Randy's injuries |

Texas 8-4 10. Purdue I'm going to enjoy the national championship for a bit before we see who we lost early. Here is a list of Seniors who we know are going: WR Mike Maddox - Special Team contributor TE Dashon Kattus - Was a starter in past, 2nd stringer this year. FS Brian DeMulling - key play in NC game. Decent starter this year. QB Jamie McGeoghan - Mobile 4th string QB QB Walter Liddiard - Mobile 3rd string QB and 2nd string for short yardage plays. TE Alan Hollas - 3rd stringer and special team contributor. OG Mike Reynolds - 3rd or 4th stringer. DE Abdul-Salam Tolbert - 4th stringer. OLB Lou Buckhalter - 4th stringer. CB Robert Rolle - Dimeback this year. CB Watts Soriano - 5th stringer. CB Tom Stricker - 6th stringer and Special Teams contributor. SS Jerome Bosley - 3rd stringer. K John Mitchell - Backup kicker. Very few starters are definitely going pro, but a lot of our stars are juniors. I'll be hoping we get lucky and they want to come back and repeat.. |

Not surprisingly, the AD and the rest of the school are thrilled with my performance. I get A's in every category, and an A+ for my overall grade.
The offseason brings plenty of speaking engagements, and it's clear that the alumni have had their expectations raised. They expect us to be starting a dynasty and they aren't going to tolerate much less than repeated BCS appearances and preferably a string of National Championships. During the offseason, I end up getting about a dozen job offers. The most prestigious is at Texas. I turn them all down. Our budget increases 40,000 dollars to 2.52 million. We "only" we have 91,000 for recruiting each week. Darn! My amazing offensive coordinator was hired by Alabama-Birmingham to become their new Head Coach. I wish him well, but will miss his top notch coaching ability. Potential Early Entrees into the Draft (only Pac-10 Listed) MLB Gil Dyer, Washington DT Chris Herring, Arizona OG Marsh Heyward-Johnson, Washington OLB Sam Jells, UCLA FS Kyle Jones, Washington CB Ron Jones, Oregon State HB Wes Nelson, USC CB Dwone Secules, USC HB Clem Sirmon, Washington Not bad at all. My plan of not using Malcolm too much seems to have paid off! Hopefully, it doesn't backfire by pissing him off too much and making him transfer. |

Congratulations on the title. I'm guessing you can easily improve upon this class with recruiting, perhaps more than enough to absorb a couple of high-profile defections to the league.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty confident that we can get better with another good recruiting year.
Well, I certainly can't fire my defensive coordinator now. Last year, the defense was 1st in the nation. We were 2nd against the rush and 3rd against the pass. We were 3rd in points allowed as well. However, I need a new offensive coordinator. I contemplate several different offensive coordinators, but I finally settle on going after Texas Tech's OC. He is 46, is great at developing QB's, and is excellent at gameplanning. He prefers a balanced passing attack. I almost went after an OC who prefers vertical attack, but Antonio is too good at developing QB's to pass that up. Antonio is salivating at working in our program and he accepts my offer of 700,000 dollars per year. Antonio's one weakness is that he isn't that good at developing offensive linemen and this is very concerning. However, he is supposedly a true QB guru and also good at developing HB's and decent with WR's. |

My potential Star OT Terry Harper who didn't play much last year as a true freshman has told me that he is going to transfer elsewhere.
Stud OG Scott Standlee who did play a bit last year is also looking to transfer. None of my other players is looking to transfer. My new offensive coordinator who is Excellent at scouting QB's has a fairly different view on my QB's as well as several other skill positions:

Great season! Congrats on the championship! Every once in a while, there seems to be a magical season where you have the best defense and best offense (no matter which sport). It's funny, I just won my very first championship in FBCB at about the same you won yours (even though it took me a long, long time to do so).

OT Terry Harper left us to go start for Fresno State. Too bad, I probably would have played him much more this year.
OG Scott Standlee left us to go to Maryland. Oh well, at least we now have 15 scholarships open and will get a bit more recruiting money. So, we have 15 scholarships and 2 more possible if Wes or Dwone goes. I think both are likely to go pro this year. So assuming they go, I'll eventually be recruiting 17. Looking at our QB situation with all 3 going next year, I'd like to bring in 2 true H.S. Players, but certainly at least 1. Assuming that Wes goes, I'll want one HB. I'm going to recruit one early. We are set at FB for now, particularly with us running more 3 and 4 WR sets. We are probably going to lose one or two of our super trio of Freshman to the draft next year early, but we really don't need anyone yet. I might recruit one if there is a great WR who really wants to come here. We only have two TE's and I'll look to add one quality TE. With our defection of Terry Harper, we are very thin behind the starters, and honestly a top recruit could beat Mike Walker. I certainly want to add 1 T at least. I think we have good starters and decent depth at G despite Standlee's defection. I might recruit one, but only if it is a very good recruit who wants to come here. I think we are set at C for another year. Since, Brad moved outside, we are really set at DE with good starters and great depth if they develop like I think they can. At DT, I'd like to add at least one touted recruit, possibly 2. At MLB we are set with Bratton as our starter and decent depth behind him. At OLB, I'd like to add one good player for depth, but it is not essential. I'm assuming Dwone is going pro. In that case, we will need 2 quality cornerbacks, and I wouldn't be upset if we added 3 (knowing that one might transfer later.) I think Nate Ferrario has a chance to be a special FS and Drayton has the makings of a good backup, but I wouldn't mind adding one more for depth, but it isn't essential. I'm not happy with Courtney as our SS. Kevin might take over the role, but I'd love to bring one guy to challenge them. I'm happy enough with our kickers for now. So, with my first 15 I'm going after: 1 QB 1 RB Maybe 1 WR 1 TE 2 T's. Maybe 1 G 1 DT 1 OLB 2 CB's Maybe 1 FS 1 SS Even if I add the maybes that is only 13. So, I'll definitely go after that. I'll also go after 2 others that are highly touted regardless of position. Now, that I'm making this team my own, I can have a bit more flexibility during recruiting. |

Thanks guys. Yeah, Dwone was hurt quite a bit which kept his interceptions down. Maybe it will be enough to convince him to stay. I'm almost certain that Wes is gone though.

QB I'm confused about Bobby Richter. He is 21 and in H.S. but he has a 3.4 GPA. He plays in Baltimore, Maryland and he is 6'6 221 pounds. He is ranked #7 in the nation (2nd among QB's.) He is a bit turned off by our two senior QB's but still highly interested in us. I offer him a scholarship as he has very good accuracy on his passes. LSU and Michigan are also pursuing hard.
None of the top running backs are interested in coming to USC. I guess they think Wes might not go pro. I'm surprised that they wouldn't want to come even if they might have to wait a year. I decide to try recruiting Rudy Love despite his lack of desire to come to USC. He is 6'0 200 pounds. He runs a 4.55 and has great power. He also has a 3.7 GPA. He is from Marion, NC and plays for McDowell. North Carolina and Maryland are reportedly his top choices. WR Todd Cushing is interested in us, but has some other higher choices. He is from Staten Island, NY and plays for Tottenville HS. He is #33 in the nation (#3 receiver in the nation.) He is 6'4 171 with 4.5 speed. He also has very good hands already.
