Quite possibly, but not a certainty.

This game is a perfect example of why I decided to wait until a couple of weeks worth of games were played before starting the Top 25 poll this season.

It's been a good week for Appalachian State. First, their most famous freshman was all over the Internet tubes with her answer in the Miss Teen USA pageant, and now their upset victory.

Good lord.

Why the subtitles?

Should be a fun scene at ASU tonight.

The subtitles are probably there so you can figure out what they're saying over the sound of your own laughter. I'm sure there's a copy of it out there without the subtitles, but this is the one that I know and love.

Yeah, I'd be a bit concerned about the caliber of students they are trying to attract if they need subtitles in their promotional vid.

Hey, they have to weed out the non-readers somehow, don't they?

I'm almost positive that the actual ASU video doesn't have subtitles. I think the subtitles were added when this made its Internet rounds as a "funny" video.

While you may be right about their talent level, perception is reality, and the perception is that this is much worse than losing to a MAC team because of their division.

It does seem like Lloyd Carr has let his program slip a bit the last few years. I think he's a good coach, though - hasn't he won a National Championship? I don't see them firing him, unless somehow they don't even make a bowl game or scandals arise. He may retire, though. He's not a young man.

Well, GT seems to have mastered the trick of letting people stay in games
Just had a FG blocked, keeping the lead at just 6-0 in spite of a great first quarter by the defense and a pair of ND turnovers.

So after watching this first quarter, it looks like Georgia Tech will have a very good defense, Tashard Choice can win a few games by himself, but the rest of the offense is very, very suspect.

I guess that should be good enough for a bowl bid and maybe 8-4 if things go well.

That's true. App. St. would beat both of OU and Texas' opponent tonight. The problem is, perception is reality in the polls of college football. No matter what the team, the best 1-AA team will be looked at as worse than the best 1-A team.

Nevada picks off a pass and takes it back for a TD! 10-7 Nevada leading Nebraska in the second!

Went to a sports bar to watch Miami-Marshall. Pretty cool atmosphere because there were lots of Appalachian State fans there.

As for Miami, looks like the same as last season. Pretty good running game, great defense (although both are probably improved), but no passing offense. Kirby Freeman went 9-21 for 86 yards. Ugly. We won't beat Oklahoma.

Sigh. The Chan Gailey follies continue.

Strongest armed QB maybe in school history, one with mobility to boot, sitting on the bench. Meanwhile Bennett looks like a slow rattled career backup that can't escape the rush & can't hit a receiver keeping ND in this one.

BC ties the game up right before the half, after Wake returned a fumble for a TD. Good game so far.

SoCon represent!!!! I still hate App State.

Also, they've probably beaten Furman on the last drive of the game 3 or 4 times since I was a Freshman in college... a damn good late game team.

And I still loathe them.

Are you seriously asking for a QB switch 25 minutes into the season?

Bennett isn't looking great, but Choice is running the ball well, give him time to find a groove.

16-0 thanks to a Choice run.

16-0 GT after Choice takes it to the house.
Maybe the 2nd half gameplan should follow the "passless upset" model, 'cause Taylor Bennett is making Gary Lanier look pretty good right now.

I'm amazed that Bennett got the start frankly, with the talent that's sitting on the bench. So it's not like I'm looking for one 25 minutes in, I've been looking for one for weeks. Said it before, will say it again - Gailey is a double-digit moron that doesn't belong on the sidelines of anything beyond pee wee football unless he's on the chain crew.

Who are you expecting, Booker or Nesbitt? Granted, I'm not on campus or anything, but every practice report I've been reading since Spring has said that Bennett has been consistently the best-looking quarterback on the field.

Nesbitt, who I really believe could become the best QB in school history if our resident brain surgeon doesn't convert him to WR .

And God help us if those spring reports are true, it'll be a damned long season that sees a good defense get left high & dry a lot against better teams.

Nesbitt is seeing the field - they've got a couple packages for him, and he was in on one play (QB into the line) earlier.

Yeah, one play that was about as predictable as a Reggie Ball overthrow.
