from what little I could get from the "rules", the higher your fitness, the less chance you run of getting injured. Since we're all starting out, I'd guess we pretty much all have fairly low fitness, certainly nothing like outstanding and above, so the risk of getting injured is probably quite high...

I've joined this thing and practiced a few times. I've also tried to enter the Chattanooga Classic. We'll see what happens . . .

I wonder if it would make sense to train nothing but fitness to get it up to a certain level and then try to get in 4 or 5 practice days per week? Using the club pro skills are eroding quickly enough that its hard to see how to get your skills up high enough to start making any money before you run out. Of course, fitness training for awhile and then more training on top of that would drain funds even quicker, so its risky.

never thought I'd say that about a golf text sim, but yeah that could be one strategy. Thing is, we don't really know how high the fitness needs to be to really save yourself from injuries, or even if that's how it works.

I'm still pondering what to train on a day to day basis. Is it better to have three very high skills and only maintain the other, or try to be a good all around good player? There are some interesting dilemmas. I mean, one could be the John Daly of EasyPar and only train in driving, three times a week, but then kind of suck on every other aspect of his game...

I train with the pro, the $1000 option and I usually see an increase of two points on the trained skill. By how much does your trained skill increase when you do it with the free training?

Double good news for me as I play with vex and our tee time is late enough that we will be able to follow it live

yeah, I also got a one with a pro right after posting here, heh. But I swear, I was getting twos accross the board before that. Maybe it's that there's a probability, maybe even higher than 60%, that you can get a two with a pro as opposed to being sure you'll get a one at the range...

holy moly! Don't know what I did overnight, but take a look at my player profile, especially the form part...
Quote:
FrogMan with solid experience is in solid form and calm in temperament. FrogMan has a Total Skill Index of 1429 and is ranked number 650 in the world.

I had always been in weak form ever since I started playing the game, maybe that explained my flurry of +6 rounds, or at least I would hope so

I also see that I'm now ranked 650th in the world, woop-dee-do. I think it's the first time I've ever seen a ranking there.

What's everybody else's TSI?

My training strategy atm is to train up my player kinda like HT. I'm focusing on one skill (putting, atm). Right now, this is killing me in competitions, but I really think it will help me out in the long run. I've decided to only train another skill when/if they drop down to passable.

I assume that's because I have still not played in a tournament. Next week...

And I haven't played in a tourney either, so that may be the key here.

I agree that this might be the reason as here's the whole profile page:

regarding my form increase, there may be some explanation in this tidbit from the EasyPar news:
Quote:
Form - 21 Jun 06
The volatility of form has been reduced and will trend towards an higher average. In addition the impact of form on player skills during play were slightly reduced. Changes implemented with immediate effect and form for all players have been updated.

Maybe that's what happened...

you've earned enough money to pay the wages of a new caddy, or you expect to start winning money now?

haha naw I'm still stinking up the course. I just looked at what is required to get a new caddy and now understand that it wont happen anytime soon.

I've played two tournaments and my best finish was 75... Next up is the Chattanooga Classic!

that's odd, I could have sworn that when my puttin and driving both went brilliant(10) on back to back days, both were at formidable(8) before practicing. Anyway, I've started a spreadsheet (I know, who would have guessed ) to track my training/skill drops on a daily basis. Will not have much to add as far as skill increases over the next 6 days since I just got done with my 3 in 6 routine, but still, we'll start documenting stuff...

Crim with solid experience is in inadequate form and calm in temperament. Crim has a Total Skill Index of 1049 and is ranked number 918 in the world.
Crim has played in one Easypar tournament, and did so poorly that he was nearly ejected from the grounds, due to being mistaken for a homeless man whilst wading in a pond looking for his Ping. Crim sucks and has little outlook for improvement, due to his lack of attention span and poor work ethic. Crim would be better served taking up the "sport" of Miniature Golf. The Easypar administration looks forward with anticipation to the day when Crim's funds finally dry up and he is forced to leave the Tour, wearing his abject failure like a badge of honor.

Sheesh, this profile was pretty detailed. That stings a bit.

Sniff ... stupid thing doesn't like me. It's been about 6 hours now since I submitted my form, and haven't gotten a email back yet.

I think the thing is anti-Appalachian. Stupid racist automated computer golf game.

I like how I can miss a 6 foot putt on 10...

Shot 2: Approach - Missed Green Left To Pin: 13Yards - In the Bunker

Shot 4: Putt - Missed Putt To Pin: 7Feet - On the Green
Shot 5: Putt - Holed Putt To Pin: In the Hole

... and then sink a 34 foot putt two holes later.

I'm still not sure why I play so bad on the front nine, but good on the back nine.

+5 on the front nine(including two double bogies)
+1 on the back nine

Go get 'em.
