Every year I think, "this is the year I'm not going to be a dork about this game", and every year I disappoint myself. In the past couple days I've gone to Toys R' Us, PC Richard, KMart, CompUSA and Gamestop to see if anyone woul "accidentally" break street. Not gonna happen. In fact, the Gamestop I pre-ordered from said they probably won't even have it until the 17th. No midnight release for that location either, just an early open on the 18th.
Unfortunately, I may be on a business trip the majority of next week. Sigh.

Darn, I already promised the wife that we are watching a movie together tonight in a few minutes and the new job is keeping me worn out and limiting staying up late. Oh well, I'll have most of the weekend to check out the demo if it comes out. |

Played the demo.
Thoughts: I suck. Graphics are really cool. Some of the pre-play animations are a bit repetitive, but pretty cool. I hated playing Florida vs. FSU . If you let the pre-play graphics go without hitting a button, you're going to find yourself in delay of game-ville a lot. Playbooks were a lot bigger and, playing as Florida, you see a lot of shotgun and spread formations. They only let you play with 1 min quarters and you can't see stats or anything like that. My defense easily shut down their running attack. They were able to pass but didn't try any over-the-top bombs. I was successful throwing screens and in the flat. Running the ball seemed realistic to me - most of the time my RB didn't fall down immediately upon impact, but he didn't seem to be able to break 500 tackles either. I was able to pass the ball down the middle, but not to an extent where I felt I was ripping off the system. I also tried to throw a couple over the top and failed miserably. Overall my game went to triple overtime, and we lost, 19-13. My only semi-concern is that they were unable to run against me, and I am NOT an NCAA freak - I usually was just able to get my MLB NEAR the play - my CPU-run defenders did most of the job. Btw - I noticed, since the game went into triple OT, that the lighting on FSU's helmet changed - you could tell the sun was going down. A very nice touch.

Oh - I did run a post pattern to the left sideline and my WR caught the ball with one foot inbounds. They showed about 3 slow-motion replays of it (it was a great catch). Only after the 3rd replay did I notice that the opposing coach challenged the play! Finally, after the 3rd replay clearly showed his foot was inbounds, it said "The play stands!". Another nice touch

Yeah, I didn't see how to it, but the opposition did. The demo takes away almost every option. The weather, the skill level, ANY kind of sliders. It's pure 1 quarter, 75 degree and sunny in the Swamp. That's it. Couldn't even call a time out from what I could see.

I just played a game of it, and I know ithis is just a demo, but I love it so far. There are TONS of plays and just not enough time to look through them all. Of course, once I'm in a dynasty, I'll get used to my plays and what they can do. My only gripes are that the camera angle in the demo kinda stinks (too close to the field, so you can't see the sidelines near the line of scrimmage), and it doesn't seem possible to cycle through your defensive players in both directions. What I mean is that if you press B, it selects the next player, but if you accidentally press B too many times and pass your desired player up, you have to press B another 9 or 10 times to get back around to him. That's a bit of a pain.
Otherwise, it seems great so far, and I can't wait for Tuesday.

I believe they just changed the rules to make it so coaches can now challenge replays also. Too lazy to find a link though.

Pumpy, I am feeling the same way. It seems like I might actually play this years game more than a few hours. For some reason it just felt right. It is hard to explain.

Just played a game, VERY COOL. The graphics are wonderful (IMO, far better than last year's Madden) and the crowd looked and felt real. Lots of plays to cycle through and I felt like I was looking at Urban Meyer's playbook. I don't know if this had been implimented in past games, but the Kicking game was AWESOME, using the right thumbstick as kind of a swing. Very nice indeed.

Graphics are great - but the game seemed a bit choppy for me - could it be my TV?

Hmm... worked smoothly for me. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow and see if it is choppy.

Played a game, pretty cool. I don't really recall the graphics being choppy. But then I was trying to get the plays off on time and learn the new controls. One minute quarters blow.
I completed every pass I threw, no drops there. But then going 8 for 8 seems a bit suspect. Just need the whole game to really tell. Yes the playbook was pretty nice. You could choose by formation, play type or by feature player. Even though the momentum flasher went off a lot, I could not tell a difference in success. I guess I'm the only one who didn't like the graphics? I thought the stadium models were cool, but I didn't like the player models. I like the touch passing, and the fact that you could play with the precision passing or not. I still haven't been able to get used to it, but maybe this year I will. I also like that they changed from Madden when you pull the trigger in coach or WR cam, that it resets. In madden, it didn't, and I fecking hated that.

My Gamestop rules. I traded in MLB The Show as I've worn that game out and I got $20 off NCAA.. didn't know there was a promotion going on.

Every year I tell myself to wait on getting NCAA. Then every year I get more and more excited as the release date nears. Same thing happening again this year.

In my game, I played as Florida and it was 0-0 until there was no time left on the clock and my guy fumbled his SECOND punt of the game. FSU picked it up and ret'd it for a score. Anyone else have mucho fumbles on punt returns?

I ordered through Amazon because I had a coupon, and I realized that I had miscalculated the timing on it. I thought it came out after I moved to Connecticut, so I had it set to ship there. Then I realized it was coming out next week, while I'm still in Chicago. That would've sucked if I hadn't caught that.

I've also seen impressions from people who have the game that say the demo is choppy, but the game itself is not.

Don't read the blog for the sports gamer.. some weird stuff already popping up according to those who have the game already.
http://sportsgamer.blogspot.com/ Is is the same ol.. same ol? Do we now see that BBCF, although not perfect.. is much better with the polls? Soon enough.... actually if NCAA 2007 is bad, BBCF will be my ONLY source of college football bliss this year, well.. unless Jim has something up his sleeve.
