Hopefully, Sanchez has gotten his head straightened out after being out of the rotation for a few turns. Especially now that he is in between Lincecum and Cain.

Great pitcher's duel tonight in Boston between Lester and Bannister.

M's trade Betancourt to Royals
It's so nice to know that the M's front office is no longer the most inept in all of baseball...

Rob Neyer updates his blog with this little tidbit
Awesome quote from Omar Minaya: "One thing we like about Francoeur is the amount of games that he plays."

Pablo Sandoval just stole a base. That was awesome. He may the most loved Giants hitter since Clark.

I don't know which is worse, this trade or the Francoeur trade. Betancourt may be the the only guy in baseball with worse plate discipline than Francoeur. Not to mention he's been one of the 5 worst defensive shortstops in baseball according to Dewan's +/-.

Holy crap! Sandoval just hit one where only Bonds used to hit balls at ATT park.

I think he was pretty much finished here after he acted like a spoiled brat that got coddled by mommy & daddy too much when he was shipped to AA for a few days last year in an attempt to get his head & his swing straightened out.

I've heard it suggested that the very best thing that could have happened to him was to be traded to Seattle, which would be the furthest he could have been sent from his comfort zone, the place where he was a high school football star. The implication that usually goes with that is, in spite of being married for more than a year now, he's mentally & emotionally never gotten much further than being an 18 year old high school hero (and we certainly saw that when he got his panties in a wad over being sent to Mississippi).

Still, going to NYC isn't a bad alternative. He'll either grow up & toughen up there or else he'll be out of the league within two years tops.

Way to finish off the no-hitter!!

And if not for Uribe's booting of the ball in the 8th, would have been a perfect game.

When you're down by EIGHT? I understand if it's a one run game, but bunting to break up a no-no down by that much is a douche move. Good thing he was just a fake douche.

Didn't the red sox blow an 8 run lead in the 9th a couple weeks ago?

And with 2 out in the 9th, no less. That wasn't about trying to win the game at that point. At least, not completely. That was about not being the guy who makes the last out of the first Giants' no-hitter in 33 years.

If you take away certain options in how to get a hit, then throwing a no hitter isn't really that special is it? Especially if you can cheat and pull your infield back.

What the hell planet is this? To score runs you get on base. If you can get on base you helped your team. Fuck his no hitter.

Ain't saying it's not legit. Just saying that I really don't think the motive was about winning the game at that point. Otherwise, why not try it again? He had a 2-0 count to work with.

Maybe the infield moved in, and that might have been his strategy all along.

Caught the last inning and a half on MLB.tv. It's always great to see someone throw a no-hitter. No way the Giants trade Sanchez now.

And really, if it's obvious he's not trying to win the game, then why does it matter whether he bunts or swings? That would be true either way, wouldn't it? He can't win the game, so why try anything?

I really dislike the fact that Sanchez loses the perfect game on an error. He pitched the perfect game, his fielder made an error. I'd like to see perfect game mean no baserunners of the pitcher's own volition....

Awesome play by Rowand on the second to last out. Hopefully Sanchez takes him out somewhere nice for that catch.

If I'm the batter against a pitcher throwing a no no, I do whatever I can to break it up no matter how many runs I'm down, wouldn't you have pride for your own team and not want your own team to get no hit? I would do whatever I could to get a base hit.

Now I’m probably just buying a gun.

Yup. That sums up today in a nutshell for the Royals. A lot of suicide/GM homicide watch going on at RR today. GMDM has now gone from grace period to carefully watched to hot seat in almost record time, starting this offseason.

The trade makes absolutely no sense. At all. If you're going to trade away one of your best pitching prospects, next time get someone who isn't just average or replacement level, but is a negative- he actually makes the team worse by being there than if we just had some stiff. And we traded away Cortes, public urination and all- I know but still, to do it. They should have been giving us players to take his contract.

Wow. That's a helluva haul for a guy that I couldn't really see a sane team touching. He's like Jack Wilson with a worse glove and worse patience, and a huge contract.

Speaking of which, I know this fan favorite 31 year old SS with a larger contract(though a team option next year) and an above average glove(this year anyways) that the Mariners could acquire at a very reasonable price.......

Nah-

A perfect game is 27 up, 27 down. There's too much flexibility in what can and cannot be called an error. Dunno about the play in the Giants game, wasn't watching it so I'm not speaking specifically about that scoring choice.

Not a no hitter or nothing, but a funny moment in the Angels-Yanks game (hopefully you can catch a highlight).

Figgy got popped straight up. Natural inclination is he stands there and looks up at the ball he just hit. Posada of course is thinking "catch the ball". Well, the ball fades toward the third base side (behind Figgy), but Figgy appears to figures he's in the way and starts to back off. Problem is, he goes back, toward Posada, and runs up against him and starts to trip, while Posada's trying to keep his eye on the ball and is flailing back at Figgins' falling back with his glove. Figgy finally seems to catch his balance and gets out of the way, but his hand catches Posada's glove and apparently slightly dislodges it. Posada tries to one hand shake the glove back on his hand, fails to do it, and throws the glove to the ground.

And then he catches the foul pop barehanded. lol... One of the weirder plays I have ever seen.

Posada complained about Figgy to the ump (he had an argument, lol, not sure what Figgy was doing).

There's actually been a lot of speculation in the last couple of days about an M's/Pirates trade due to the presence of an advanced scout from Pittsburgh in Seattle the last couple of days. Wouldn't shock me if the M's made a play for Sanchez or Wilson, though I wouldn't expect them to give up a ton given their modest win values in comparison to their contracts.
