If Lidge gets the save, it will be nice to see him exorcise the demons from Houston and get a ring. Still, I'd rather this series go 7.

(Obviously, I know the Phils fans don't want this but I don't want baseball to be over yet)

Surprised how happy I am about this win. Reminds me of my grandfather's joy when they won in 80.

The first thing I thought of was my grandfather. He loved the Phillies...died 3 yrs ago. I am so happy I got to take my dad to the game and share this experience with him.

Seriously, congrats to all the Phillies fans. It's a wonderful feeling to have your team win it all and I wish everyone gets a chance a couple of times in their lifetime.

Nothing against your team at all- it was just one of the more compelling series we had seen in a while and I really wanted it to go 7 and have a bit of a thing for the underdog but I would have been ok if you had dramatically won game 7

Long distance Phillie fan here.

After last seasons post-season collapse, they exorcised those nightmares, with this World Series title in 2008.

It'll be an interesting offseason for the Phillies, who stays/goes/new additions.

Yes, yes, yes, I'm proud of ya'll Phillies.

I would also like to say congrats to the TampaBay Rays, a 200-1 longshot to even make it this far.

Rays have alot going for them, a young growing team.
Just get a new ballpark, Tropicana Field does the team no justice.

One of the first things I thought of was a man from work - a longtime Phillies fan who was diagnosed with inoperable cancer just a couple of months ago. He turned 60 in mid September...and died two days before the playoffs started.

Enjoy it Don, wherever you are.

Just in shock. I called my Dad, and nearly started crying.

I know that life trumps anything in sports, but if there was any one moment where both came together, it was tonight.

I'm getting choked up just typing this post.

I'm heading into the city tomorrow for an observation at the federal courthouse on Market & 6th. I might just walk 14 blocks and park my butt there until the next morning.

Now, I'm off to splurge on some merchandise.

Philadelphia Phillies: 2008 World Champions.

I wonder how long that will remain a contradiction in my mind before I wake up and realize it's real.

GO PHILS!

Do they sell those caps with the ear warmer thing? Maddon had on a TB one, I saw Rollins was wearing one of the Phillies ones. But I don't see them on shop.mlb.com. It would be nice for the upcoming winter half of the year.

Big congrats to the Rays. If the Phils or Cubs did not make it to the Series, the Rays would've been my next choice to root for to pull it out.

That AL East is going to be wicked next season. I kinda feel bad for Baltimore.

Royals trade Leo Nunez for Mike Jacobs.

Not really sure if I like this trade - injury prone MR for Steve Balboni v2.0.

LOL!!!

For one, follow along. He was talking about the fans' reaction to the Mets getting Santana. Mets fans pretty much had their World Series tickets purchased when that happened. This season proved that you can't win as a group of individuals (ie: Mets).

Jimmy FTW!!!

It doesnt matter what context it was in, it's a classless move. You just won the world series, talk about your team and whatever. To bring up other teams and players is a piece of shit move in that spot. Me being a Mets fan has nothing to do with how i feel about it.

i view it differently. these players are put on stage in front of 50,000 fans and given a microphone, expected to say something. since they're not professional orators, they probably don't know exactly what to say, but want to give the fans something to chear about. so that's what leads to rollins' comments and 'world fucking champions'

Hey, when you win the whole thing, you can say whatever the heck you want.

Don't like it? "Come back when the Mets actually win something."
