I'm surprised that we know about any of this - the positive test, the reports of symptoms, and the hospital trip. I don't know if this is good journalism, a Trump strategy, or internal anti-Trump strategy. (Or, much less likely, they're just trying to keep America informed).

Here's the thing. The left has been dealing with the purest exploitation of power from the republican party since before 2016, and almost exclusively since the election. There has been no good will built up, it's only about, I can do it, and I will. That is the only sort of response that should be generated. You do not defeat a bully by letting them off the hook. You do it by humbling them, and if they manage to come to their senses before you finish them off you give them one chance to redeem themselves and walk away. That's it.

I just think people in general that are not already in Trump's pocket are sick of the circus and could see a move like this as compelling. |

You know, if this plays out just right for the GOP, this could work out really well. Trump is diminished just enough that he is persuaded to step away from the nomination (saving him from the embarrassment of losing as a bonus), Pence takes his place, and tens of thousands of conservative-leaning voters who would never vote for Trump suddenly shift to the GOP/Pence. And McConnell continues along on his merry way as Senate majority leader/puppet master.

I think Pence may bring back some never-Trumpers to vote Republican. But, I think there are many only-Trumpers that probably would not vote. All of this is speculation. There could be a real rebound for the Republicans because of the loss. Or, there could be real lack of interest without him.
