There are many more deals too, but those are the ones I'm excited about. Solar 2 looks interesting though. Anyone whose played it like it?

I'll echo what JPhillips said about Solar 2. It is actually fun though. I picked it up as part of an Indie pack so I am happy with it's inclusion.

I grabbed Dawn of War II, Terraria, and Sequence on today's deals. I fired up Sequence first just to get the achievement, then ended up playing it for 3 hours and even forgetting there was a Jets game I could have been streaming or at least listening to. Very, very fun little game.

I got Terraria myself. Passed on the SW stuff as I already have a couple of them. I will probably end up getting the indie pack after all as i want solar2 and limbo and at least one or two others. Anyone got a coupon for it?

I picked up Sequence, Terraria, and Solar 2. I'm a sucker for cheap, fun games. Solar is the only one I've messed around with so far. I suck right now.

Picked up Solar 2 for the achievement. Ended up spending a couple of hours playing it before I even tried to get my piece of coal. Fun game. Odd, but fun. I can see playing it for awhile, letting it sit, then coming back to it for a little while as a quick time-waster. Could be fun on a tablet or phone.

Solar 2 is fun.

Sequence blows chunks royally. Once I got the achievement and subsequent piece of coal I uninstalled it.

Very tempted by Space Pirates and Zombies for $2.50. Anyone with experience on this one? Some good reviews but the metacritic score of 74 is lower than I'd like to see. Sample size is probably the issue on that, but I'd love to hear comments.

And yes, I'm frugal with my $2.50. I've already bought way too many wastes of time for that price and want to cut back.

Space Pirates and Zombies for $2.50 is a steal. Fun little game with shooting and RPG elements mixed together.

You can always grab the demo from Steam and check it out.

Wow, I'm surprised to see that, I had a super good time playing it last night. Different strokes I suppose.

So I've never played any of the Assassin's Creed franchise and the price is pretty low for the first 2 in the series. Is there any opinion on which one is better?

I have only played the first two Assassins Creed games, and the second one is much better than the first.

Dead Space 2 is five bucks on Amazon for the PC download.

If you have a 5 dollar off coupon for Amazon from the holidays sales... apply it and get the game free. Does not activate on Steam. But.. free game!

Yep and because it is still the best college basketball game out there for a console.

I might have to break out my copy and update it with this year's IU squad.

On another topic, what was the final verdict with Dead Island? Worth playing?

I enjoyed it for a little while then it started to feel like more of the same over and over. Though it is still fun to fire it up once in a while to blow off some steam.

My girlfriend got me Dead Island for Christmas, and I've been playing it a bit off and on lately. There are some things I like about the game and some things I don't.

Things I like:
  • Firearms are a rarity. I'm level 12 (out of a max 50 I believe) and I've squeezed the trigger exactly four times. You're on a resort island in the middle of a zombie outbreak, so yeah, guns should be a rarity.
  • Good variety of melee weapons. The first weapon you use to kill a zombie will be a boat oar. You'll use sticks, wrenches, hammers, crowbars, pipes, and all manner of makeshift weapons. This I like...feels more like a survival game when you have to make do, rather than finding broadswords and uzis every 50 feet.
  • There's a skill tree that allows you to progress your character and earn you various bonuses, including combat bonuses, lockpicking abilities, extra inventory space, etc.
  • Walkers, which are the basic run-of-the-mill zombies you will encounter, are pretty varied, especially in their speed. Their speeds vary from a Romero-esque shuffle to a quick walk. There are also 'Infected' who do the full 28 Days Later sprint, but go down with one swing pretty much. Fear the Thugs...
Things I don't like:
  • Forward/backward movement is smooth, but this appears to be one of those games where side-to-side movement is a little rough. And this isn't due to hardware restrictions either (I've got a quad core box with a GTX 470 card, so that's not the problem).
  • Combat feels pretty visceral, and there's plenty of gore to be had, but it can get a bit repetitive. I find I'm limiting myself to 1-2 hour game sessions. I don't think this is a marathon sort of game.
  • Zombies scale to your level. I understand games need to continue to feel like a challenge, but this is a pet peeve of mine. If my character is going to gain levels and abilities, I want the ability to eventually feel like a badass, at least in certain areas. But it looks like the zombies scale to (approximately) your level no matter where you go on the island.
Overall I'm enjoying it when I restrict myself to limited doses. This will probably become one of those every-so-often sort of games, when I really just want to go and bash some zombie skulls.

Based on a very good friend of mine who is quick to embrace all things zombie, absolutely 100% not.

He tried and tried and tried to play Dead Island and finally gave up. He said it might be worth $10 just to play around with it for a while, but not more than that.

I am thinking $5 during some future Steam sale.

I have 30+ hours into this and like it a lot. It does get to be more of the same later but the early part of the game is fun. The real challenge kicks in later chapters.

Co-op with people you know can be an absolute blast. I've had hit or miss time with random internet folks.

There is a story, but it's weak. Weapons can be upgraded and there are RPG elements for your characters.

The tough thing is weapon management. It costs money to repair and upgrade them and they can degrade quickly. A majority of the weapons are melee and that means they break quickly.

Guns are almost worthless in this game until you upgrade them with shock mods.

I think it's a good deal under $20 bucks which is what I paid for it.

Game Stop is running a buy 2, get 1 free sale of Vita games (only includes 5 games though: ModNation, Wipeout, Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf, and Little Deviants).

Target is running a similar sale but it isn't live yet on-line (rumor is Wednesday is when it'll actually go live) but includes any/all Vita games.

Just to add to this, Best Buy is giving a 40% bonus on any trade in value that is used to buy PS Vita games. Pretty sure you can take a Target flier in and get the bonus trade in along with the B2G1 deal match. With the bonus, you can get $47 trade in value on a PSP.

GOG is having a buy one get one free on D&D games. So if you don't have Baldur's Gate 1&2 you could get both for $9.99.

Other titles are Icewind Dale 1 & 2, Planescape Torment, Neverwinter Nights Diamond, Dragonshard, and Demonstone.

GOG.com

If you buy any pair you also get Temple of Elemental Evil for free as well, so it's kind of buy one get two free. I'm picking up BG 1 & 2 just so I don't have to remember where my disks are.
