Carroll had really poor clock management in this game. USC just hasnt been the same offense since Chow left, but it's good to see that Sark learned a few things from Chow. |

I wonder if Al Groh and/or Ralph Friedgen survive the season?
Not sure if or who the hot name will be for next season (not sure there is a Butch Davis like situation where it would pay off to have an early opening, maybe Gruden? Tuberville or Tommy Bowden, maybe?) |

WVU goes up 7-0 early. 58 yard pass by JB and Devine caps it off from a couple yards out.

I'm way more nervous than usual for this one. Feels like it could be a turning point, one way or the other, for the Stewart reign. I think he can be successful either way, but I feel like Stew can win over a lot of fans with a big win here. |

All I can say is FUCK YEAH!
Looked early on like USC was just going to run all over us, but USC started getting away from the run game and credit Holt and the UW defense - they buckled down. Mason Foster was a beast out there, seems like he's always involved in some way with turnovers. I was actually frustrated at times with Sark's play-calling today, but I can't fault the result - huge, huge win for him and the program. It was fun to see everyone storming the field as soon as the clock hit zero, and there was so much elation in the stands - it was just amazing, and we soaked it up for quite a while. For everyone out there that likes to tout how strong the SEC is from top to bottom - well, so is the Pac-10 (with the notable exception of WSU, although they won today too). |

After swearing they wouldn't this season, the Texas coaches bust out the wildcat formation, and pick up 34 yards on the play.

And UGAg takes the lead 24-21 a minute before halftime. This looks more like a WAC Eastern Division game than an SEC game. Two really shitty defenses with a few good athletes that can occasionally make plays.

Northwestern scores on a highlight reel play -- screen pass to the WR, back to the QB for another screen (w/ about half of the O-line in front of him) for about a 30-yard TD.

Just got in from the Clemson BC game...
what a mess play stopped twice for lightening in the area. Well it looks like Clemson has a DEFENSE, a Kicker (which is actually a first in a while) and a CJ Spiller, and not much else. Thankfully that was enough today. not sure who got to watch it but Spiller had ANOTHER 75+ yard kick return TD and moved within 350 yards of the all time ACC all purpose yard record, not bad for a kid who never started a game until this his senior season. BC who came into the game 5th in the nation in total offense was held to -2 in the first half and 55 for the game..... wet, rainy and fun...what else happened in the college world today? |

Painful, we got our asses kicked up front, which pretty much exposed our below average speed in the secondary.......This is like the A&M Bowl game when Detmer won the Heisman. The other problem is we faced our first mobile QB today and as I feared that is still an issue for us. Fuck what a debacle!! Somebody please hide my Razor blades and take my shoelaces. |

Mallet's 4th TD pass puts Arkansas back in front 28-27 just inside 10 mins left in Q3.

Checking the box score, I think you left out the -5 in turnovers, I'm guessing that made a difference in the margin if not the outcome.

Georgia answers back with an easy passing drive & TD, 34-28 UGAg after a 2-point conversion was called back for holding, just under 8 mins left in Q3.
No defense in sight for either team really, although Arkansas was missing a starting CB who left with a hamstring on the first play of the drive.

Little trick play where the receiver falls down starting the route then gets up wide open gets Arkansas down to the 2. Two plays later it's 3rd & goal at the one after an offside. Finally score on play action, Mallet's 5th of the game for a new Arkansas record. PAT good and it's 35-34 with 5:15 left in Q3

Cox gets his 4th TD pass for Georgia to a wide open TE, Georgia back in front 42-35, this time the 2 point conversion try came from the 8 after a delay of game, no matter AJ Green was wide open, now 4:34 left in Q3.
It's like watching offenses run shell drills, and honestly Arkansas' defense looks even worse than Georgia's as the latter can at least stop the run a little bit.

Mizzou dominated today, up 42-0 at the half, and now Arizona State is looking to follow up their 50-3 win with another drubbing. So far they have had 1 drive, 14 points, and are so far looking more like the 10 win team of 07 then the 5 win team of 08

Was at the game today. Gabbert is just ridiculous at this point given his age and experience. I see all these comments in these threads about QB's throwing away games. We've had Brad Smith, Chase Daniel, and now Blaine Gabbert over the past 8 years. It's not wonder why we've had such a good run over those years. Gabbert now has a 68% completion rate. 8 TD's, 0 INT's. VT fans have to be relieved to squeak by Nebraska. That's a middle of the pack Big 12 team and they just barely beat them at home. They should have performed much better against that team. |

Syracuse hits a last second FG to knock off NW, 37-34.
Today is looking like a good day for the Big East. So, far Louisville is the only loser, dropping a tight one @Kentucky by 4. UConn, Syracuse, and Cincy all have wins over BCS conference teams (Baylor, Northwestern, Oregon State) and WVU is up by 1 @ Auburn at the half. Cincy's win aside, nothing too great, but these are the types of wins that make the conference look better overall. Hopefully, WVU can come out fighting in the 2nd half vs Auburn. |

Our offense will be fun to watch, yeah. But our defense? Shit, our defense looked worse than it did last year and it was terrible last year, especially the secondary. It was supposed to be improved this season, but you sure as hell wouldn't know it by tonight's game.

Looks like Auburn will take this one.
What I learned today is this WVU team is better than last season's. There's no doubt in my mind about that. Depth is a major issue for this team, though, and the D-Line is going to wear down if they're left on the field too long. Bill Stewart will probably get some heat for this, but I'm confident the program is headed in the right direction. Recruiting is great, the offense is exciting and will help with recruiting, and Casteel is a really good DC. I've said it a couple times, I think this team's year is '11. 8-9 win seasons this year and next. |

We turned it over 4 times last week and 6 times this week. Tough to win games with that handicap, but we're almost good enough to do it against quality teams. It's gonna be a long 11-days before we play again, but I think the schedule lines up to get us to 5-1. That's why this one hurts -- win this, I think we would have been in great shape to hit 6-0 and be in the top 10 for the meat of our schedule. Oh well -- good fight in a tough venue. Hopefully, Auburn is a legit team -- their offense is pretty good, but their D is pretty pedestrian, IMO. |

They might be the one team to go undefeated before their bowl game that neither them, or that aspect gets talked about. They have some challenging games coming up, but they could do it. Let's say Texas, Florida, and Cincy are sitting there at the end and you know Cincy is going to get the shaft as long as Florida, or Texas don't have two loses.

Probably a stupid question, but why is Weis on the hotseat? Is it just about how much he is getting paid? The program certainly seems like it is headed in the right direction. Heck, unlike last year, the offense is impressive, they have been recruiting well, and if they had a decent defense would be a solid top 25 team. The problem they seem to have is their defense is a seive and unless they are scoring every possession they will be in trouble.
