Coghill is the man! He has already set the Little Rock team record for TD passes in a season and is within range of breaking the single season passing yard record too.

Well, now we have a problem on our hands, as LT Hardy Woolridge has (finally) been revealed to be a shell of his former self. His contract is up after this season, but he is idolized by our fans, so he will at least have to get a new offer. Though, to be candid, it doesn't look like that will be all that much, judging from the amount he's asking for by way of a renegotiated contract.
All FYI... this might place LT near the top of our priority list for next season, one way or another. |

It appears that we will finally get our first 1,000 yard reciever this year, if McAllister stays healthy...also, Wade- can you look to see if it is possible to bump up the playing time of Blaine- and bump down the playing time of Perera? Maybe set it to where the backup SE is used instead of the backup flanker in 3-WR sets?
Edit: Also regarding the FLs, Morrell & Parea are both rated the same currently, and Morrell has much better potential...Maybe we should consider moving Morrell to the backup FL position? Last edited by Doug5984 : 03-20-2003 at 12:21 PM. |

House rules clarification:
I know we have to offer contracts to the most popular player at each position. Can we ever cut or trade those players? I don't remember off-hand if that's ever happened |

No trading or cutting unless there is a more popular player at that position. We are stuck with Wooldridge until he retires, gets a better contract offer and takes it, or until we get a player more popular than he is at LT. |

Speaking of that stupid Howard Hammond is Content with his playing time despite being on our inactive list. I guess I would be too if I knew the team was going to have to give me a fat paycheck despite the fact I suck

I'd say if we get another 100 popularity playe at LT we could trade him...what are the chances of that?

Well, again - at least it looks like Woolridge will at least be reasonable with his demands for next year. Looks like he'll target something like $2m per season or thereabouts... not totally unreasonable for a guy who was recently an all-pro left tackle, even if he has eroded by injury. I'd have no major problem eating that cost - don't think we need to adopt desperate measures to rid ourselves of him quite yet.

Well, obviously I am VERY VERY happy with how Coghill has developed and at how our team has made the transition to being a pass-oriented offense.. Coghill is the highest rated passer in the league, and should set several team records.. Biggs has been very respectable, and should be a VERY capable backup to Crawford.. As stated, we should have our first 1,000 yard receiver (but more to my pleasure, Cog can REALLY spread the ball around).. And besides Garnder, we really haven't give up many sacks..
I don't see too many cahgnes being made on the offense at this point (if it ain't broke, don't fix it..) I may get the #2 FL involved more (maybe Morrell some), but beyond that I'm quite happy with the offense.. We're #2 in points and #1 in points allowed.. The list goes on.. As for Wooldridge.. it's a shame, but as QS said eating his salary shouldn't be too bad... it stinks, but nothing earth shattering.. no more than we're eating on Pritchett at the moment.. (which btw, we need a more capabl backup for QB as we can assume that Pritchett will get hurt quickly if he gets in the game).. I'll do the next 4 games in the morning and prime can move on to the playoffs..

Doug, rejoice... among other things, we have our first 1,000 yard receiver!!!
If only Cog stayed healthy, what other records could he have broken? He had the highest QB Rating ever in the league... was 2 short of the TDs (he would have easily broken that) for the league and broke our record... he helped McAlister break a team record for receptions.. And now we go into the playoffs without him.. sigh... Overall, again, I'm happy with our transition into a passing team... it has gone quite smoothly.. We seem a little too stacked at WR and I keep having to shift guys around... we may want to consider trading one of our FLs in the offseason, as we just can't use them.. or we keep them while they're cheap and have them in case of injury... Prime, when you sim, watch for Dresow to get healthier, because when he does get healthy we need to put him back in..

Another dominant season, despite our troubles with injuries.
Seems like as much as we worry about having a guy here and there who are less than wonderful... we're still head and shoulders above the competition, and unless we really screw the pooch, we should probably expect to stay that way (even with these house rules, and your GM's occasional screw-ups in that regard). |

Well damn it. I just noticed we forgot to put our stud rookie CB Maffett back into the lineup after his early season injuries. It sucks to lose that year of development oh well. The team obviously did just fine with Godfrey starting at RCB. I am getting ready to run the playoffs now.

Texarkana (12-7) at Little Rock (15-3)(-9) Code:
Ouch. We lose a pretty ugly game to Quik's old Texarkana squad. They won the toss in OT and the defense just couldn't hold them as they drove down the field for the winning FG. For the second straight year we go home a bridesmaid, but not a bride.

not exactly Pritchett's finest hour, although he did damn well in getting us there. I wonder if his playing time in the playoffs will be reason enough for him to come back again next season?

Well you can hang this loss squarely on the defense. We had two turnovers, but neither one of them resulted in points for the opposition. All we had to do was stop them in OT and let Covington kick the game winner for us. But the defense blew it.

Well of course it would have been nice to get more points on the board. But when the other team gets the ball first in OT the defense has to step up and we just didn't get it done. |

I think the more likely suspect was the offense, but it was basically through no fault of it's own. Any time you make it to the super bowl without your starting QB or RB, you've done pretty well.

Man Coghill's numbers are just phenomenal. Not only did he complete 70% of his passes, but he did it while haveing the 3rd highest YPA average in the league. That is unreal.
Hmm did anyone else notice T Tracy Pedersen caught a pass this year?

Dunno... we carried injuries at TE for a while, I wonder if there's some deep reserve system that might use a T as a TE in a pinch?
Tipped pass makes more sense to me, though - or some other simialr sort of thing. |

I'm getting ready to start the next season... should have a new thread up shortly.
Here are our individual award winners for 1994: RB Bo Biggs - Offensive rookie of the year QB Otis Coghill - 2nd team QB DE Riddick Finley - 2nd team DE And so, we settle again for a 95 in team performance... I supose we can live with that. Maybe we can break the all-time record for consecutve appearances in the league championship... we're on our way with three, eh? |
