Stevens put up great offensive numbers early in his career. during a 10-year period in his prime, he averaged 65 points a season. even though his offensive output declined later on, his career average is a very respectable 45 points. 45 points would put him in the top 25 blueliners last year in the "new" NHL.

As I said, he played in Jersey.

Demitra to Wild for that 17th pick and O'Sullivan.

And Kings pick Trevor Lewis with that 17th overall pick.

Avs had to do something - Blake, Skraskins and Clark are all unrestricted free agents, and the Avs are somewhat loaded at wing. I just thought it might be Hejduk or perhaps Svatos moved, not Tanguay.

I REALLY like Tanguay. Besides Sakic, he was my 2nd favorite Av by a pretty wide margin. It hurts.

I have a very hard time picturing him doing as well in Sutter's system. This reminds me a lot of Drury for Morris - talented forward for a promising young defenseman. Drury didn't do what they thought he would do in Calgary and was gone after a year, and Morris lasted just a bit longer before being traded for (ugh) Ossi Vaananen

The only way I like this trade is if the Wild were having serious trouble signing Gaborik, and needed this to convince him to sign with them.

Big fan of the Wings getting some extra picks all the while getting Emmerton. He's a guy I wanted in the first, but to get him where we did while getting picks is a coup. Good offensive prospect.

Ha, I hope so, but I don't see it. Blues have no one on D, new ownership taking over and they need to make a splash. People are going to want to see this kid play, and I think the pressure may cause both sides to cave.

St. Louis isn't used to being a loser (In the regular season anyway) so they're not going to stand pat for multiple years of dispair, even if it's inevitable.

So you think he'd start up in St. Louis? That would be stupid. Just because he has the size doesn't mean he's anywhere near being ready for the NHL.

If he gets signed, I highly doubt he'd go to the A.

He has size but he has the smarts to play. He can do it all. Now the ideal situation is bring him along like Phaneuf, but the Blues don't have that option I don't think.

You never really know though.

I love college hockey so I want to see the powerhouse that the Gophers could be.

Just don't know if it's possible.

But it all depends on EJ. Jack Johnson loves college, doesn't want to leave Michigan. EJ might want to play with his friends there then go to the losing of St. Louis.

.

If he's signed, he pretty much has to play in the NHL, since he's too young (under 20) for the AHL.

Online feed if you like watching later round discussions which seem to go exactly like the NFL draft (talk about 1st round picks, occasionally mention new picks)

Good call. I totally forgot about the age limit in the AHL. Yeah he has nowhere to go but Minnesota or St. Louis.

So I get back from dinner (and kitchen cabinet Hell at Lowe's), checked to see what Atlanta got ... and lo & behold to my great surprise the guy I was hoping for dropped to us. For the middle of the round I think Bryan Little was a good choice.

Amazing choice. I'd say he's the best playmaker in the draft. He with Ilya could be something very special.

And assuming we don't find a way to re-sign Savard (which I've already pretty much abandoned hope of), he may get a chance to play a lot VERY quickly.

I know its just EHM and doesn't mean anything, but Emmerton has been pretty good for me. It's probably more about his linemates tho.

VANCOUVER (CP) - The Colorado Avalanche have traded Alex Tanguay to the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenceman Jordan Leopold and a second-round pick in Saturday's NHL draft.

The Flames also get a conditional second-round pick in either the 2007 or 2008 entry draft.

Sharks did the "package pick with later pick to move up a few spots to grab a guy some experts think would still be available at their first spot" again, getting Ty Wishart at 16 for their 20th and 57th? 52nd? and packaging a couple late picks to move up to 36th for Jamie McGinn and 98th for James Delory.

Of course, since guys they've done this to get have included Carle, Bernier, Michalek and Setoguchi, I can't complain *too* much.

All I've seen is the list at
http://www.nhl.com/news/2006/06/275750.html

which includes:
-- St. Louis acquired the No. 25 pick (F Patrik Berglund) from New Jersey for the 30th pick (D Matthew Corrente).

Dola,

Unless STL insists on him playing in the NHL, he will play one year at Minnesota. Same deal with Kessel, he is expected to play one more year with the Gophers.

It's ok, DD. I know how you feel. I got teary-eyed back when the Wings shipped Petr Klima, Adam Graves, and Joe Murphy to the Oilers for Jimmy Carson and Kevin McClelland. Though I was just 13 at the time, I still know your pain.

but I'm not 13, I'm 35, far too old to be getting to the verge of tears on losing a player.
