Virtue is a red server for me all the time, I believe. That's bad, isn't it?

That remids me. It's time for my daily "One of you yutz's start a dynasty report" request. Or at least post some screen shots.

Hey, thanks for adding me to the Supergroup. I couldn't respond in chat because my keyboard is fried (I spilled some water in it) and I can't use the enter button. I tried using the keypad enter but it wouldn't work.

Created a guy, but didn't get to go through the tutorial with him before I had to go to my friend's party. I didn't really like much about that guy anyways, except for how he looked. I think I'm going to create a new another character here in a minute, but make him in more in my character.

This is guy is going to perfect the Fozzie charge of death, except it will be lethal to the villans, not myself...

You're welcome and not a problem. I keep in mind that when somebody doesn't respond to a hail:

a) they may be AFK
b) they may not see the hail
c) they may be in the middle of conflict
d) [add your reason here]

just an FYI, to see the super group members only, there is a Supergroup "button" above the chat window that, when pressed, shows the group and all their stats (3 from left IIRC next to Team and Friends). Then, at the bottom of the chat window, one of the buttons is to talk in the supergroup channel.

Blizz, Ill Blood, Carl Bistro and myself went on a mission last night and had a great time. Bistro cracked me up with his war cry. Something about being "sassy". We kicked some Vahzilok ass and made the city a little safer. I have a screen shot of us that i will post tonight.

Here is a review that describes my feelings of the game almost exactly...

http://pc.ign.com/articles/511/511429p1.html?fromint=1

As I spend more and more time with the game and things get a bit more repetitive, the main thing keeping me clicking the icon on my desktop to start the game is the getting together with friends from here.

If I had picked the game up on my own and had to scrap for teammates every time I entered the game, I wouldn't be having near as much fun. With that said, i'd like to thank each and every FOFCer that has made the experience my best MMO game to date.

[having my wife walk in on my sessions is still a bit uncomfortable as she sees and hears me having fun with a 7 foot guy with ram horns and tights. And the other night, I let my 4 year old help me on a mission by letting her point out the bad guys and click the number keys to shoot 'em down.]

Most of us have these things called Jobs, Jeebies.

It's a place where you go for 8-10 hours and goof off, but you can't play any games or visit pr0n sites. But they make it up to you... they PAY you to come in! Pretty neat, huh?

Maybe someday you can have a Job of your very own..

That's a job, not a Job. There's a diffference

btw, to do a tell (confusing I know..)

It's /tell ,

So if you wanted to tell my current character something it'd be something like..

/tell Green Gale, I much prefer Texas Tech to UTEP

Jeeber, you can use /t Basaltic, whatever. The comma is important. Or you can click on a person on the friends list and select chat from there.

If you want to reply to someone, just hit backspace and type what you want to say.

Can anyone outline the character creation options for me?

About how many power combinations are there?
Can you customize your SFX?
How about apperance?

Sachmo,

You can not customize your SFX alas. As for your appearance once created you cannot change it (except if you are a member of a supergroup-you can change back and forth between the supergroup's uniform and your own costume). Cryptic has talked about adding a "supertailor" so people can pay influence to change their appearance, but that hasn't happened yet.

However you have a wide wide variety of character/costume creation options. Its broken down into several different body parts, and each part has a number of different options. You can keep the same option for many of the body parts or do something totally different with each one. You read various reviews where they say they haven't seen two costumes totally alike yet, and that's pretty close to the truth. There are so many different shades of colors to choose from plus various chest icons etc etc, that you won't ever be lacking for ideas for a costume. And I'm sure they will add to the options there over time.

Power combinations. Not exactly sure what you mean here, but you start out with a primary power group and a secondary power group in your specfic archetype. There are five different archetype and five or six different power groups in each to choose from at the start. Starting at Level 6 you have the option of a third group of powers to choose from, the power pool. You don't ever have to take a power from them if you want. Each primary and secondary group have about 9 powers in them to choose from each time you are given the chance to get a new one. Power pools have four each I think.

My character in the FOFC group is a mutant blaster with ice blast as my primary power group with 9 different powers in that initial set, though I only get a choice of the first two to begin with. His secondary group is ice manipulation with 9 different powers I can get there eventually but only a choice of one to begin with. At level 6 I took the flight power pool, and picked hover, leaving me three other powers I might choose later.

Many of the powers in each power group work together, like I can freeze a guy to keep him from me, then blast from a distance, which is what blasters do.

Does that help any?

Once I finish the tuturial, is anyone interested in grouping?

I guess Cyber Freud needs to wash his suit more often, as his team members all quit in the middle of a mission.

One strange thing I've noticed, how come you can't have capes on your character? What's strange is that both the thugs and civilians will refer to superheroes as "capes" but you can't actually have a cape.

Capes are coming. It's tough for the programmers to build them so they look realistic in the game, and they opted to have someone work on them after launch so that they didn't half-ass them ingame.

Had fun kicking some butt with hoopsguy (aka Cerulean Monk) for a while tonight. He was a few levels higher than me, so he was having an easy time on my missions. Just gives me something to look forward to when I gain another level or two.

Oh, and Fighting Miner is just a little bits away from reaching level six...

Basaltic got to level 6 tonight, I was a sidekick in a level 10ish group with a guy I know from another message board (Seculo) and some of his buddies. I guess I didn't realize just how little xp I'd get as a sidekick. Is that built into the system or is it just because I'm a controller with bad damage?

Wow, just got around to playing with the first dude I created and I had a great time. Blasters are freakin cool!

The Frozen Jeebster is a science blaster on virtue. Just got him up to level five when I realized that it's past four in the morning and that I really should get some sleep...

Found this on the CoH boards. It's a dev comment about the first update:

Quote:
I'm sure many of you are curious what we're adding to the game and when...so I thought I'd talk generally about our first update content. I'm not going to get too specific here, because we're still working on stuff and things might change a little in production. We're aiming for an update a month or so in - again, we're aiming for a month, but things might slip. But anyway, here's the scoop...

1.Opening up levels 41 to 50 - the cap at release is 40 - this opens it up to 50 (where it'll stay for a little bit). Naturally, this means new contacts, Enhancements, tasks and story arcs.

2.Two new zones - One zone is the HQ of the Portal Corporation, where they house the top secret "Project Looking Glass." You'll see that this has enormous ramifications for the game background as well as gameplay. The other zone is a crash site for one of the Rikti base ships. It remains a constant war zone between the military and the Rikti.

3.Three New Villain Groups - The mysterious Malta Group. The macabre Carnival of Shadows. And the immensely powerful Praetorians.

4.Two Trials - These are two repeatable tasks that a group of heroes can undertake for a special Enhancement reward.

5.Tailor - Give players the ability to change their costume for an Influence cost. But there may be a little more to this system...so keep your eyes peeled.

6. New Mission "Interactivity" - As some have noted on these boards, players would love to do "more" on missions. Ya asked for it - ya got it! I'll give you a taste of one of these features: if heroes are defeated in some 5th Column bases, they'll wake up in a cell instead of a comfy hospital! The hero will need to knockdown the cell door, overcome the guards and find his way back to his teammates. Plus, you never know what kind of allies you can make in the 5th Column's jails...Anyway, that's just a tease of several features we'll be adding into the mission sets.

Not a bad first update if i must say so myself.
